The JMI has an extra gain stage that's supposed to give it increased headroom, though I find the difference to be minimal. The JMI tone stack is wired like classic 1960s Voxes, whereas the Abbey has the more modernized connection on the bass pot (which Vox themselves are using these days).
Thanks! I honestly can't recall, but I'd guess that I had the bright cap engaged with the cut rolled back a bit and the tone knob on the guitar rolled back to 75% (which I always do). I usually keep the bass low on this amp, around 9:00. It has a lot of low end on tap which is nice, but lower settings are more quintessential Vox. Treble probably around 9:00 or 10:00, but no higher than noon.

Nice tones! I have the head, can I ask you your Bass and treble settings? Brighto on? Cut? Mine is quite dark (or maybe to much bass)
