I don't see the advantage of the device cause of the following reasons: 1. you said one of the advantages is the group calling, but that is already possible with group calling thru Viber, messenger and other VOIP services and this uses full duplex plus it even has video. Your device uses half duplex meaning you can't heare the other person if you're pressing the button to talk just like a wakie talkie. 2. It still uses cellular signal therefore it can't be use for an emergency response in remote areas with no cellular signal 3. You are still using cellular data connection the better to use VOIP at least with VOIP you can talk normally without the need of push to talk I had high hopes for this device but I'd better of using the mobile phone. This is just like NEXTEL which was popularized during the early 2000's but internet connection was still expensive at that time and became impractical to use and ended up being more expensive to use compared to a mobile phone.
For personal use, I dont see the advantage of Two-way Radio vs. Smart Phones. For business, This is the best communication equipment for the business operations. #1. A lot of business do not allow cellphones to their operations #2. It is fast (one click) communication to group of people Also, this radio has full duplex mode, just like a cellphone. For me, PoC Radio is not comparable to Cellphone. It is a different device. Cellphone has pros and cons Conventional Radios has pros and cons PoC Radios has pros and cons There is no perfect system Just need to choose based on your needs.
