I will point out that Caitlyn's mom may have told Jayce to stay away from her daughter (after she almost died because of his illegal experiments with magic), but she was also the first one to vote for him not being banished even after knowing everything he'd done. She was angry but still cared about him to some degree at least
I don’t think I’ve seen anyone draw the parallel between her name and the knife before. That’s an excellent observation, and I love it, and yet another testament to this show’s attention to trauma and pain.
Love that detail. And I love the political nuance of how she handles not getting what she wanted, not retaliating but instead bringing Jayce into the council. And the look on her face when Jayce makes his own moves later. Mel is such a great character. And how nobody in this show is purely good or evil.
@@TimoRutanen…as so many tools of industry or toil or conveyance have become throughout history, from farm implements to hot air balloons to frickin’ lasers. Science has always been focused more on can we do it and less on should we do it.
The first portable hextech inventions Jace thinks of are thingsthat will increase piltovers profit. When he could be making device to fix the polluted water and air of the under city. These device being the one shown it to draw attention to how the people in piltover have no actual consideration for the people of the undercity
@@TimoRutanen I was wondering why they didn't make top quality excavators or anything else less adaptable into war weapons. Also, @vamarock7119 it was interesting how the priority of water and air filtration got pushed aside.
I love that you spent so much time at the beginning of the video talking about your thoughts on episode 3. It really does take some time to process everything that happened. Great observations Basic! I am loving your insights and predictions. 🤓
THANK YOU, ALEX!! I almost NEVER have fully formed thoughts at the end of an episode, so having some time to rewatch and write things down makes sense in MY MIND! Glad you don't mind the switch up! ☺
The story just takes off into some extreme highs and lows from here! But all of it so well crafted, and the animation continues to be amazing. Enjoying this journey with you! …even though, yeah, I watched it twice and have seen three others react to it, but you know what I mean! Cheers 😁
This is such a great show and I'm so hyped for season 2 I've resorted to watching S1 reactions lol. So glad I've discovered yours, best by far. Can't wait for more!
Powder going by the name Jinx, most likely was self ‘empowering thing, since Silco had no prior knowledge that Mylo always called her a Jinx and Vi’s last words to her was saying that Mylo was Right, she is a Jinx. I think it was Powder thinking, alright you all think I am a Jinx,I will show you what a Jinx can do. Then ends up adopting the name Jinx.
The little creature is calle a Poro. They are native to the frozen north called the Freljord. That one in particular belongs to Professor Heimerdinger and is named the Porofessor.
I love your reaction you're so observant its frustrating sometimes when other reactors miss some of the nuances of this show cause honestly theyre what really drive home how amazing this series is
Regarding the Council's seeming love for HexTech.... Its major use at the moment looks to be that big teleportation gate. Imagine how world-changing it would be to have the ability to instantaneously move things around the world at industrial scale, even if it's just one way with the return by conventional means. Now, imagine what would happen to that global supply chain if that fast travel suddenly stopped without warning. Suddenly, that remote town that was expecting its shipments of vital food and medicines find out that they've been delayed for months with nothing coming in the interim. I mean, anyone remember what happened the Ever Given got stuck and blocked up the entire Suez Canal, and the chaos that then ensued?
Oh no, third thing. Riot has an official company policy that they do not copyright claim any of their property because they like reaction channels. If you want to play any Riot owned music in Arcane you wont get struck with the exception of Enemy as that is owned by Imagine Dragons. But you can play all of their music and music videos copyright free without exception. Arcane footage is still owned by Netflix though so if you want to play the music make sure its mostly audio only or Netflix still gets you for footage.
Copyright free without exception? As I understand the policy there is the exception that monetized videos do not fall under it. So as soon as you add advertising to your videos, you can no longer use the music freely.
15:47 good catch. It is reminiscent of cyberpunk, that’s because Zaun is a different kind of punk… steampunk (on in this case an Arcane version: chempunk)
It doesn't really make sense, but gauntlets are supposed to be tools for mining in this universe. Vanders gauntlets that he had hanging from the bar (that vi used in episode 3) were mining gauntlets too, so the ones jayce made were basically suped up versions
It is so interesting watching your perspective not knowing the league of legends game. Hearing your thoughts about jynx and her new name. Cuz all us who know even a little were waiting for powder to become jynx (since jynx is a favorite player in the game for many) I've been really enjoying your perspective 😊
So, let's recap.... the first arc started after Powder / Jinx stole Jayce's magic blue stone, blowing up a building and nearly killing Caitlyn in the process. Now, the second arc starts after Powder / Jinx steals Jayce's magic blue stone, blowing up a building and nearly killing Caitlyn in the process. My.... how history repeats itself..... 😁😁
I LOVE Vi! Never thought I'd be into a woman like that, buuuut yep. I identify more with Caitlyn, but give me a Vi. Sorry. Just had to gush for a minute. 😁😇🤷😁
And by "if you hadnt done that" do you mean? Vi taking them on a mission they couldnt handle? Vi not giving Vander the stones when powder suggested too? when Vi broke into Benzo's and got him killed? when Vi sent the message to grayson behind Vanders back? and also the reason shes dead too. Or when Vi walked her brothers straight into a trap? Or when Vi could have just closed the door instead of playing tough guy on a bridge to prove herself? This of course let powder see her get manhandled by decker. Or maybe when she blames her baby sister instead of taking responsibility and punches her in the face then abandons her in the alley for "The Bad Guy" to find? I'm sure thats what you meant.
Or alternatively powder could not have went and they might still be alive 😂. That's clearly how they framed the tragic events of ep 3 to be like and is a reasonable thing for the audience to ask. Of course, it's unfair to lay all the blame on powder, that's part of the tragedy. You can list many reasons for why you can blame all the other characters too, not just Vi.
Just to clarify. The dagger Silco stabbed Vander with wasnt the one he used when he was being drowned. Its the dagger he took from Deckard in episode 2. But do notice that Vander got stabbed in the stomach and then slashed on the right forarm when Silco was fighting free. And Vander wore a leather waist belt and leather brace on his right forarm for the series. And even rubs the leather brace when talking about monsters at one point. If anyone Vander is the one who spends more time remembering what happened than Silco. And Silco has the eye to remember the event by. Because silco can only use make up to help cover the eye when he wanted to. Vander had to choose every day when getting dressed to cover the shame of those scars.
I’m gonna disagree with the notion that Vander spent more time remembering. We “see” Vander’s moments of recollection and reflexive tells but they are largely triggered flashes. We don’t “see” those tells from Silco because it is (a) a narrative reveal and (b) Silco keeps his cards close to his chest. And when the reveal happens, Silco (heh) immerses himself in his memories, as opposed to Vander who contend “I’m not that man anymore.” Meanwhile, though Silco seems like a calm shark in the water, he cannot and will not forget what happened. It is a core motive of what drives him. Since that betrayal, he trusts absolutely no one. When we meet him, he is a man apart, plotting alone in the dark. He seeks satisfaction from the world which wronged him. He commits every fiber of his being to getting it - to show “them”; to show them all. Powder is the one who finally breaks through that tower of isolation, and when she becomes Jinx, she is the only one with whom he shares everything he’s plotting. He instantly goes from “I will show them all” to “We will show them all”. He has downed Vander, and one of Vander’s brood is now his. The path to victory is already partway travelled. …but it is still very much coloured by the past, which he remembers with clarity, never forgetting where he came from.
Think it has been 3 years since the 3rd episode. So Jinks/Powder is now 15, and Vi is 18 . I don't remember how old Caitlin and Jace are... maybe 20 and 23.. not sure.
Way longer than that, more like 6 or 7. And Jayce was 24 in episode 2, and Caitlyn around 15 or 16, like Vi. So he would be more like 30 now, and Caitlyn early twenties.

I know, right? So funny!
Probably one of the most accurate depictions of psychological issues in animated form.
13:30 the gauntlet and laser are mining equipment to make life easier for the undercity citizens
Pretty easily appropriated for other uses though.. Quite shortsighted of them to start with those items
The gauntlets are for mining, the laser was planned for "our artificers," which is to say, "builders."

imo it seems like a heady mix of self hate, empowerment, and spite. She clearly has very mixed feelings about what happened.

Singling out Vi for all the blame is an intriguing thing to do when the show goes to great lengths to provide depths of nuance in its storytelling.
