Would google meets be considered HIPAA compliant with the BAA only after those relaxed standards have gone back to normal? I noticed in signing our practice's BAA Google meets was not mentioned.
Thank You! I just had an EAP company ask me if I could do CSID /CSI in groups online. I use doxy, too, but so far at the free level. i'll look into using this for groups.
Hi I am new on the thele healthpractice setting. My company decided to use google meet as the primary way of communication.my concerned is that is not soo interactive as zoom. And the success of a our service some how depend of that. Any adicional help will be appreciated.
I'd say it depends! I really like the waiting room feature of Doxy. It skips the hassle of keeping track of links (both of my end and the clients'), since there's a new link for each meeting. However, if you're needing to do therapy with multiple people (for example, couples therapy for long-distance couples), the group feature of Google Meet makes it a winner. So it depends on what you're using it for and what interface you like better. Hope this helps!
We found out this weekend that people who don't have a Google account can't join a Meet from a Mobile device. Including iPads. :-( This makes Meet a totally unreliable option for teletherapy.
Oh no! I just double checked and you’re right! They can still join from a computer without an account, but I know not everyone has access. Important to note!
@@PrivatePracticeSkills This threw a major wrench into our plans. We're lucky that one of our therapists tested Meet this weekend with her non-tech savvy parents (who don't have Google accounts). The could not join fro their iPad and were prompted to log in. Actually, it's a blessing in disguise because this would've been a much bigger headache if we found out after teletherapy started for us!
@@PrivatePracticeSkills Well, we're trying to figure that out. We've narrowed it down to three options, each with their own set of challenges. We want to empower our therapist with multiple options because for us, I don't think there's a one-size-fits-all option that's free. Google Meet (free) Pro: ease of use and familiar to therapists working at Little Talkers and you're able to share your screen. Pro: works on any device IF the family has a gmail account. (e.g. cell phone, iPad, laptop, desktop) Pro: Group calls for co-treats Con: people who don't have a gmail account can't join a Meet from a Mobile device.(e.g. cell phones and iPads, any other tablet). Will work without a gmail account IF they are using a laptop/desktop. Zoom is a good alternative (free) Pro: many people are already familiar with and using this platform. Pro: great video quality and you're able to share your screen Pro: Group calls for co-treats Con: you are limited to 40 minutes. Doxy.me is another good alternative (free) Pro: works on any device regardless of email. (e.g. cell phone, iPad, laptop, desktop) Pro: no time limit. Con: no screen sharing. Con: more likely to drop a call with bad internet connection. Con: No group calls Other platforms (FaceTime, Skype, Duo) These platforms are not likely to be used in the future when things get back to normal.
Love all these pros and cons! Just a heads up though that Zoom is also in the category o.f not being HIPAA-secure. Their $200/month healthcare plan is the only option that offers the BAA to make it HIPAA secure. Though as you said, the rules around HIPAA are relaxed right now. I'm working on a video going over all of these platforms. I'll include your tips!
At first I thought everyone needed a Google account to enter the meeting, but I just tested it out while completely logged out and it still worked! You can just copy and paste the link from your Google Calendar and send to their (non Google) email. When they click the link, they type their name in instead of signing into Google. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for the support and gathering all this info for us ❤️
My pleasure!
I’d like to ask how is record keeping
done with telehealth? What are the important guidelines to consider when doing record keeping in Telehealth

Hi thanks for the video. I was wondering if you could do a video on doing interventions through video Counselling ... example empty chair.
What an interesting question! I hadn't thought of that before, but certainly some interventions at least need modification to work online.

You read my mind. Thank you so much for this video. 🤗
Oh good! There are so many videos I'm trying to make right now and it's hard to know which ones to prioritize!
Well done - and on the fly no less.
