In this video, I'll teach you how to perform a battement glissé, a basic ballet step that can help improve your balance, strength, and flexibility.
Follow these simple steps to perfect your technique:
Step 1🔹 Begin in first position with your feet turned out and heels touching. Keep your arms rounded and held in front of your body.
Step 2 🔹 Shift your weight to one foot.
Step 3 🔹 Slide the lifted foot along the floor, keeping it close to the ground, until it reaches the end of its range of motion, tip of the toes hovering just off the ground.
Step 4 🔹 Return your lifted foot to the starting position and repeat the motion with the other foot.
To help you visualize this movement, imagine your sliding foot like a well-oiled piece of bread that's just gliding across a hot griddle. 🧇 Or think of your standing leg as the "captain" of a ship, guiding your sliding foot along a smooth sea of dance floor. 👨‍✈️⚓
Practice this step regularly to improve your technique, and soon you'll be able to perform it with ease and grace.
Get ready to embark on this exciting adventure and discover the incredible world of classical ballet! 💃🕺

    Hello Alessia,
I have a question: Is there a difference between Glissé and Battement jeté? If so, what is it?
Thank you for your Videos! I've been following your channel for years now and find the Videos very helpful! Although already have some experience in Ballet and this series is not particularly helpful for me, I find the idea fantastic! I also started (again, after going to classes as a child ) as an adult and when I tell people I dance Ballet, I often hear that they find Ballett interesting but would be too old or not flexible enough to try it - this is such a common misconception! I love that you fight against it and make Ballet for Adults and especially Adult Beginners so accessible!
    All the best!

I’m so happy you are an advocate for ballet in the Adult community! You are right, there is a massive misconception, and this is why we need people like you to be the example that ballet can be done at any age in life.
Going back to basics is always a good practice even for the most advanced dancers, we never stop learning!
I will answer the glisse-jette difference in the next video, you totally anticipated me 🤣
Remember to follow along with the downloadable pdf, I give you few more reminders and tips along the way.
      Lots of love
      Alessia 💕💕💕

@@lazydancertips thank you for your answer! ❤️ You're totally right, it always makes sense to go back to the basics - that is why I'm watching this series anyway ;) In the classes I attend, we always do jetés and I know glisses only from this channel and was already wondering some time ago. I'm really looking forward to your next Video and your explaination :) all the best to you and thanks again, Alessia!
