I like MVs with some kind of story, not just individual sets for each member with a few different angles of their face and a couple of group dance shots. I still like their first 4 songs the best, and this is one of the reasons why. I think G Idle does this kind of thing well, because they’re good lyricists, but the whole “I’m a bad bitch, you can’t touch me” thing very easily falls flat.
Especially since I think BP have the personality and stage presence to give off that kind of impression (empowered, confident, etc) without explicitly stating it in the lyrics, so it just feels like overkill when all the songs are written like that.

Tbh, BabyMonster's debut was very disappointing. The song doesn't feel original at all, it just sounds like a 2NE1 and BLACKPINK formula. I feel like Yang should hire new writers and visual directors to improve the overall quality of the MV as well as the song.
Batter Up was disappointing at first but I guess it kinda grew on me already because it sounds reused from my fav groups.
Overall, I hope YG doesn't mess up their future comebacks. I also hope that Ahyeon will join the group ASAP

Though they had good songs here and there ya could see in most of their tt Teddy went with the same sound over and over again with like barely any comebacks. They could definitely play with concepts and sound considering whatever BP releases would definitely have success but it would've been hood to see the quality of music improve with the popularity. Though I didn't watch the show but I have watched clips here and there so I know that the BM girls are immensely talented might I say one of the most talented in 5th gen currently so their debut was very disappointing

Thank God a creator pointed out the similarities. The other day I put up my opinion regarding the BM debut when a other creator asked in his/her post, literally one ‘already sounding toxic’ BM fan jumped on me saying you all just jealous seeing such expensive sets. But bro, no matter how much expensive it is, it felt Deja Vu.
The girls are super talented esp the rapper (I have been always a fan of female rappers) but YG?? Why are they making the concept almost, ALMOST similar to the seniors. Since its new debut they should have tried different concepts. Its just like used and thrown by someone and then picked up by the next.
Please the girls are talented. Dont waste their talents by making them almost similar to their seniors. Rather make them unique so that they can stand out.

I was disappointed by BM's debut. It was nothing new at all. Not a single bit. And it was so uninteresting. So boring. The only thing worth attention about them is their label name. That's it. Like there are multiple other groups doing much much better right from the debut. I don't know how they are gonna live up to all the competition.

I must say, when I watched Batter Up for the first time, it had almost the exact same vibe as Blackpink.
Starts with a shout, has solo scenes for the pre-choruses and the bridge was also the same as like "Kill this love"'s bridge: Everyone sings one verse together.
As you said, the settings were almost pretty much the same. I don't know whether I should like it or hate it, though.
On one hand I think it builds that "YG vibe", which could be smart/fun to do, but on the other hand I feel that every group should have their own, unique, fresh concept. I don't know ...

SM did too. We all recall the white box rooms of doom back in the late 2000’s and early 2010’s. I swear until View By SHINee, they didn’t know what a concept was. I think YG is still there. Even the debut song for BABYMONSTER sounds like a Blackpink ripoff. Pretty sure Lovesick Girls was supposed to be Su Pearl’s (they were a girl group that would have came out in 2011/2012 I think under YG) debut song; it has that Little Mix Shout Out To My Ex vibes. It’s good to reference things, especially with how YG likes to make themselves “high brand”, but I think originality (which I’d say Born Pink was like the most original sounding stuff from them in years) really goes a long way. But if they are going to recycle, couldn’t they recycle 2NE1’s English album’s songs or CL’s solo songs. At least give us something new.
