I used to have one when i was a kid-this brings back so many great memories!! I loved that i could pop it in neutral and speed right down the hills. Centre pivot was such a great idea back then
Hi David. It still is a great little mower today. That would be scary speeding down hill. My steering cable has broke twice in the many years I have own mine. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thank you for the video. I just bought one today for $200 from a local Swedish farmer, who bought it new in 1982.. Stiga is a Swedish company.
For me this is a big lawn tractor, compared to my small ride on, and the articulated steering is going to cut my lawn mowing time in half. Guess i'm going to need the extra time keeping the machine running :).
Great deal. Good luck with it. Thanks for watching.
Wow that was cheap!
Great repair job
Neat Tractor, I have one. I believe mine is an 83, I've had it for 15 years, still has the original trelleborg tires on it. My original mower deck was rusted out so I replaced it with a 48" deck off a Mastercraft (MTD), I swapped out the original Tecumseh 10 for a 15.5 Briggs and Stratton. With the awesome articulation and the 48" deck, I can U-turn and not miss a blade of grass
That would be great. I use mine to get in small places. It's all original except I built a new mower deck the.year I bought it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hi Randy. I have this mower and the steering cable snapped... any chance you can post a quick video of how the steering cable is wrapped around the bottom of the steering column.
I made my own cable. It wasn't hard to do. It's a weak spot on this machine. I believe i used a thinker aircraft cable on mine. The later models have a bicycle tipe chain that is much stronger.
Hello Randy. can you show how the steering cable is wrapped around the bottom of the steering column. thank you ...
I will try. Working lots of hours. Thanks for watching and commenting.
That is a nice looking machine right there especially for the age
Thanks sir.
keep it they are quite reliable if you clean them after every use let them sit dry, as well as good engine maintance
I do all the maintenance myself. It runs great and it's over 30 years old. Thanks for stopping by
If you own this model of Stiga, you MUST MUST give attention to the longitudinal shaft that allows the machine to 'flex' on uneven ground. This needs greasing on a regular basis, and some owners do not even know that this shaft swivel has siezed-up! When it has siezed, it is a devil of a job to free this shaft in its' Bushing.
Hi Peter, Yes I grease that twice a year and all other parts. I installed grease zerts on the back axle bearings because I thought there should be a place to grease there. I think this tractor is over 30 years old and runs great because I do alot to keep it in good running order. Thanks for stopping in and commenting. I have a more recent video of the mower deck rebuild "Mower Rebuild Canadiana (Stiga) Park 2000"
There is also a part 2 "Mower Rebuild Canadiana (Stiga) Park 2000 Part 2"
Do you know the specific build year of this type i got the same one but build.in in to a race mower i keep the middel joint greased the rear bearings do i need to grease soon but for the rest i love it but i dont know the build year (btw fotos of it are on my instagram @jurrienmoto if youre interested)
I have one and just love love it! Do you have the owner's manual by any chance?
Hi Julie. No I don't have an owners manual. I wish I did. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Dont suppose you have a video for changing the short drive belt under the engine? I got the old one out (snapped and shredded between right side pulley) looks like it only goes around the two pulleys and then back to the fan wheel.
My most recent video I put that belt back on. A tree branch managed to jump it off. I have never had to change that belt.. it should be easy to change. Thanks for watching.
I have one and love it my steering cable just went did you make a video on this repair ???
I just made a video today. ua-cam.com/video/Qc6dr9v4k-o/v-deo.html
Two years ago I made my own steering cable. I got tired of paying over $100 and waiting for it. Its in the play list "REPAIRS AND REBUILDS"
At the end I show a litle bit of how I made a new steering cable. I had to go and watch it to see if I included that in the video. ua-cam.com/video/FF7HTY1YaoU/v-deo.html
Thanks and keep up the videos its allot of help
I have a stiga 2000e too. Do you know where i can find parts??
Hello Alec. What part are you looking for? The transmission shift cable was available a while ago. That would be the hardest to get. I made my own steering cable after changing in once before. The rest is fairly easy to track down. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@JourneymanRandy Thanks for getting back to me. Im looking for the main/middle spindle assembly for the deck.
Hum. That is another hard to get part. The two side spindles are different. If you can find one it would be new old stock. I believe I found a parts list on-line a while back. With that you can get the part number and maybe Ebay. Worst case bring the old one to a machine shop. Might cost some but it will keep it running. I believe parts were discontinued 20 plus years ago although some are around. I found new old stock mower blades four or five years ago. Not cheap.
