Taken during the evening tornado drill of severe weather awareness week in Minnesota. For this year’s tornado drills, I ventured up to north central Minnesota to record a pair of undocumented Thunderbolts. This was my second stop. Since my original target for the evening drill was recorded in the afternoon by someone else, I wanted to figure out something else to do instead. We’ve known that this Thunderbolt does hi-lo for over half a year, but nobody has been crazy enough to drive all the way up here to record it… until now. I was already in the general area because of Brainerd, so I figured why not give it a try. I admittedly was a little worried, because one of the solenoid covers is missing now, but it is working for the time being. Who knows how long it will last, though. I was a little bit disappointed when it shut off after only a minute and a half, but hey, I’ll take it! This was my first time hearing hi-lo on a mechanical siren, and it was quite an experience. Although, driving four hours home after sunset is something I will not be doing again anytime soon. Thanks for watching, and enjoy!

This was taken during the evening tornado drill of severe weather awareness week in Minnesota, which took place at 6:45PM on April 15th. Wisconsin holds their drills the same day as Minnesota. Hubbard County normally tests their sirens on the first Wednesday of the month at 1PM.
