@17:23, I’m glad you mentioned Barry Ord Clarke and Davie McPhail because I follow their tying a lot, I have Barry’s book and I think he’s top shelf. I’m surprised you didn’t mention Del Mazza from Utica, NY. He tied beautifully fishable flies. I don’t know if he’s still alive but I took a class from him. Classic Catskills tyer.

Why not have Charlie tie a few flies, stick them in a small box, include a short description of the flies, and have Charlie sign it?

Very enjoyable Q&, once again very valuable insights from Charlie. I have Euro fished for about 4 years now and have come to the conclusion that it is just one of the many techniques available to us that is best suited for the situation. I now rarely just solely use one technique these days. Thanks Charlie for another great video.
PS I mentioned to Max while I was in the shop that I would greatly appreciate a video on the characteristics of all the various dubbings out there.

"Art of the Trout Fly" is one of my favorites, too. Hard to believe it's been around for so long. Big format books like that might not be so well received these days in the era of social media and high-def everything at your fingertips, but it's a beauty still today.

Hee hee… not as Neanderthal as pegging egg but when I lived in AK I’d cure humpy eggs, tie a tiny clump in a wee mesh bag, and cast it with a seven weight. Does that count as “tied”? Ha ha

Casting against the wind is my weakest link.

    I DEFINITELY need help casting.
Sorta self-taught and I *know* I have some ...ticks...haha The line tells me where I'm struggling, just need a coach to give me "another set of eyes" and hopefully undo some bad habits, techniques and quarks!!

One of the most enjoyable video I've seen in a long time. Charlie you're the reason I bought 5 weight XP (my first great rod) and I love love my 7 wt X. Remember Ross and your tying class 20 years ago. Thanks so much!! You changed my life.

I bought a 6 weight, Loomis GL3 from Frank at St. Pete's back in the day. He won a distance casting with the rod that year. Still my go-to rod. Good-on-ya for not having to hoover every fish in the river, Charlie!

😂 high sticking has been around for eons by any name it's productive time on the water which many working men don't really have a whole lot of n they wanna catch some fish... guess how they gonna do it.... I don't wanna use the word pampas... but humble beginnings give way to fame it appears... n that's not a jab.. mearly an insight as a viewer n long time admirer of tying skills..
