Wonders I think that they are being a little unfair about it to a certain extent but I also think that they want Eren to think objectively rather than emotionally being that he’s a soldier as well as the fact that it was revealed that the royal family can alter memories. I’m guessing they may be under the assumption that the memories that were transferred to Eren could be false or altered and that Eren isn’t thinking straight since he immediately accepted the memory of his fathers actions as fact.
The moment you said Eren is weak threw me off for the rest of the video. He literally just found out that he ate his own dad, and then the idea that he ate his dad for something that was not supposed to happen (because it ended up killing more people) was dumped soon after. You've gotta understand that Rod Reiss just didn't tell those things about Grisha. It really happened. He just told what Eren have seen. So Historia AND the AUDIENCE would know. Eren have seen what his father did FIRST-HAND because that was his father's memories. That's why Eren was so broken.

Now Eren sees through the memories of Frida and his father than rod reiss is telling the truth that his father stole the Titan powers from the reiss family. Eren believes that had the reiss family had access to this power the could have helped defend wall Maria. The shame he feels is immense. He wants the Titans power to be handed back to the family that can fully wield it's full power. Eren is really only living for one thing. To defeat the Titans. If he believed his death would lead to that why wouldn't he want it?

I love you guys but imma have to disagree with yall with Eren's reaction. I feel like it's a realistic reaction from a teenage boy who literally just witnessed his father murdering a whole family and seeing that he was potentially the reason behind all of his family and comrades death. I mean who wouldn't lose their mind. I think what makes this anime work is mainly because though the situation is crazy it's not far from reality. You can really honestly feel what the characters feel because it what you would expect from a human who goes through these things. Eren's response to the situation is honestly the most correct one. Like ol boy saw his mother die, he just saw his father murder a while family without reason (until we learn later on), all his friends and fellow soldiers died from a situation hid father created that HE has to live with. Like no human being would be able to go beast mode over night. The same situation with Mikasa and Levi. They became what they became because of the years of shit they've been through but honestly nothing can beat out the feeling of being the reason humanity has yet to be save because your father stole the only power that could save humanity and sealed it you. Like that some tough shit to take in in the matter of a few minutes. So I mean, I get you guys want a main character who is "bad ass" and "strong" but I personally believe with a anime like this that really rely on true human emotion and drama/psychological play making him turn into that would be a unrealistic choice and fuck up the flow of the story.

Eren's a 15 year old boy, who within the past few days, has had 3 of his friends he grew up with betray him, had his squad die right infront of his eyes, had many people die trying to rescue him, watched Hannes die right infront of him without being able to do anything and now just learnt that his Dad massacred a family and that he ate his dad himself and stole the power from the family that can actually use it. He literally just learn that all of the deaths up until that point had been meaningless because he can't use the power inside of him and he blames himself because all of those people died for him. So he begs Historia to eat him for the sake of humanity in hopes that she can save humanity instead. Seeing a character like Eren's who's main characteristic has been his unstoppable drive and determination being emotionally broken to the point where he's begging for death. How can you diss him after guys c'mon! Get some perspective please and try to understand why the characters feel the way they do, it'll make your future reactions way better!
Tbh I understand why Eren was so broken, but the problem with that scene is, like with many animes, is the pacing: Eren's monologue drags on for so long that it feels like time is frozen, while the scouts are actually coming their way.
Gotta let you know something MAJOR was cut from the anime for some reason. In the manga, when Historia went to inject herself, she remembered as a kid, she crossed the fence to see Frieda. Frieda SCREAMED at her, "DIDN'T I TELL YOU NOT TO CROSS THE FENCE?" It was weird. Then Historia said how Frieda would change. She would say how all humans are sinners, then she'd get depressed. Like she was a different person. This is a BIG part of the first king's will.

Remember guys. He’s only 15. Sure, anyone can get hardened objectively at 15 but with everything Eren’s been through in a small amount of time, you kinda have to understand where he’s coming from. In his earlier youth, Eren had a naive but commendable sense of justice and it only got him so far, but the loss of his mother, friends, eating his dad, his dad potentially doing the wrong things and the fact that he’ll have to die to achieve his goal of killing all the titans. Come on ya’ll. Not every protagonist is gonna be someone like Goku. It’s easy to judge as an audience member but to really think criticially about what is actually going through each character is much more appreciated. Don’t get me wrong though, there are actual shows with actual bitch ass protagonists with little to no depth or relatability.

Eren is not a robot
Eren watched his mom die, ate his dad, watched his fellow comrades die many times, mentors aswell, was betrayed by close friends of his and then finds out his dad killed a whole family to steal the founding titan power he now possesses and that one of his close friends was going to eat him. Now after all the shit he’s been through yes he has a right feeling od hurt. Historia watched her mom get executed infront of her, watched her fellow comrades die, grew up thinking she had nobody there for her, realized she had a whole dad and mom, remembered someone did love and care for her and then learns that same person was killed and eaten by one of her close friends dad, and thennnnn is told to eat him to gain the memories of the past etc etc. if historia has had it of rough if we gotta be honest here.
I love you guys but imma have to disagree with yall with Eren's reaction. I feel like it's a realistic reaction from a teenage boy who literally just witnessed his father murdering a whole family and seeing that he was potentially the reason behind all of his family and comrades death. I mean who wouldn't lose their mind.
I think what makes this anime work is mainly because though the situation is crazy it's not far from reality. You can really honestly feel what the characters feel because it what you would expect from a human who goes through these things.
Eren's response to the situation is honestly the most correct one. Like ol boy saw his mother die, he just saw his father murder a while family without reason (until we learn later on), all his friends and fellow soldiers died from a situation hid father created that HE has to live with. Like no human being would be able to go beast mode over night. The same situation with Mikasa and Levi. They became what they became because of the years of shit they've been through but honestly nothing can beat out the feeling of being the reason humanity has yet to be save because your father stole the only power that could save humanity and sealed it you. Like that some tough shit to take in in the matter of a few minutes.
So I mean, I get you guys want a main character who is "bad ass" and "strong" but I personally believe with a anime like this that really rely on true human emotion and drama/psychological play making him turn into that would be a unrealistic choice and fuck up the flow of the story.
I think you guys are being too hard on eren, think about what he's been through and about how he feels having ALL OF HUMANITY placed on his shoulders. People are dying for him and I bet that's hard to deal with. Cut him some slack lol.

Manga reader here, this scene is pivotal to Eren as a character. He becomes a lot better and badass later on, and not too much later either.

Y'all really gotta start caring about the characters emotions instead of just hyping over the action and calling any character who cries a pussy. If every character was just as cold and straight faced, and as undeveloped as Mikasa is, this would be one boring ass show with no emotion in it! Eren's a 15 year old boy, who within the past few days, has had 3 of his friends he grew up with betray him, had his squad die right infront of his eyes, had many people die trying to rescue him, watched Hannes die right infront of him without being able to do anything and now just learnt that his Dad massacred a family and that he ate his dad himself and stole the power from the family that can actually use it. He literally just learn that all of the deaths up until that point had been meaningless because he can't use the power inside of him and he blames himself because all of those people died for him. So he begs Historia to eat him for the sake of humanity in hopes that she can save humanity instead. Seeing a character like Eren's who's main characteristic has been his unstoppable drive and determination being emotionally broken to the point where he's begging for death. How can you diss him after guys c'mon! Get some perspective please and try to understand why the characters feel the way they do, it'll make your future reactions way better!
Tbh I understand why Eren was so broken, but the problem with that scene is, like with many animes, is the pacing: Eren's monologue drags on for so long that it feels like time is frozen, while the scouts are actually coming their way.

In the manga, when Historia went to inject herself, she remembered as a kid, she crossed the fence to see Frieda. Frieda SCREAMED at her, "DIDN'T I TELL YOU NOT TO CROSS THE FENCE?" It was weird.
Then Historia said how Frieda would change. She would say how all humans are sinners, then she'd get depressed. Like she was a different person. This is a BIG part of the first king's will.

Dissing Eren for wanting to get eaten is 100% justified. We see that Rod and his brother Uri both wanted to save humanity by exterminating the titans and when Uri finally received the opportunity to do that, he did jack shit. Remember guys. He’s only 15. Sure, anyone can get hardened objectively at 15 but with everything Eren’s been through in a small amount of time, you kinda have to understand where he’s coming from. In his earlier youth, Eren had a naive but commendable sense of justice and it only got him so far, but the loss of his mother, friends, eating his dad, his dad potentially doing the wrong things and the fact that he’ll have to die to achieve his goal of killing all the titans.
Come on ya’ll. Not every protagonist is gonna be someone like Goku.
It’s easy to judge as an audience member but to really think criticially about what is actually going through each character is much more appreciated.
Don’t get me wrong though, there are actual shows with actual bitch ass protagonists with little to no depth or relatability.

It’s easy to say what you would or wouldn’t do if you were in Eren’s situation, but you can never be 100% sure how you would actually feel unless you were experiencing what he did head on. This kid is only 15, just being told that if his father didn’t kill Frieda and pass the power onto him, the world could have been saved already. From where he’s standing, he thinks he was a mistake, and feel like it was all his fault. Why wouldn’t he want to die? We know Kenny wants to avenge his whole family and be truly free of the Reiss family. But Historia asked that $1 Billion Question: What does the Reiss Family want? WHY HAVEN'T YOU DONE ANYTHING ABOUT TITANS FOR 100 YEARS?
And taking what Rod Reiss says into account, you can see why Grisha got so desperate 5 years ago: The Reiss' really were going to pray it out.
