Gorbachev whom the international community have enough respect do not like stupid power-hungry criminals who grabbed power after his resignation, blackmailed and destroyed Russia and the international community for their petty personal interests. Salute to visionary leader Gorbachev !
You know nothing, The other leaders never did anything good to the nation, They only focused on the cold war, Gorbachev was the one who stopped it but too bad there wasn't enough products and the soviet union was very close to collapse with a bad economy, He wasn't the reason for this.
Gorbachev is not well-liked in Russia so Putrid does not want to be associated with him. Unfortunately Gorbachev was given the impossible task of changing not only the way business was done but the way people thought and acted. The Russian people couldn't manage the transition and inflation ran out of control on his watch - he was however a good man and encouraged free speech and even a democracy of sorts. Of course Putrid has undone all of this taking the Russians back to the stone age where I'm afraid the majority belong as a people. They just cannot get their heads around free speech, democracy, or how to work and or live without corruption in every single part of their lives. And I have worked in the post Soviet Union by the way before someone asks how I came to these conclusions.
Do you really believe you can say whatever you want in the west without being censored? Do you really believe that the democracy you see in the west is a real democracy? Do you really believe that if your vote made a difference they would have let you vote? The pandemic and the Ukrainian war were definitely not enough to show you how fake your democratic system is.
You are forgetting Stalin was responsible for millions of deaths, including those of the famine in Ukraine in the 30s. Stalin died comparatively young in 1953 at the age of 73 - he could have lived another 10 years or longer in which case he would have been responsible for millions more deaths. Stalin was one of history’s 3 mass murderers, Hitler and Mao being the others. If life did improve in the Soviet Union era it came at a very high price indeed. I am not sure that is a legacy to be proud of.
@Abdullah Khan & now Putin is taking that "freedom of speech" gained after the end of communist rule, away from the people bit by bit. Any citizen that doesn't agree with him, particularly about the war with Ukraine, or as they have to say "special operation", cannot express themselves safely now.
Mr Gorbachev meant well for his people but his people are used to being controlled and they found it difficult to adjust and reap the benefits. It's a pity his wife died earlier. May his soul rest in perfect peace.

Mr Gorbachev's legacy: stayed silent for weeks to hide the Chernobyl disaster, pathetically incompetent leader whose legacy was the impoverishment of millions: people with 2 higher educations immigrated to do shitty manual jobs at Mcdonalds and the other symbols of Western progress, total economic collapse, rise of unbelievable corruption, ruined education and public healthcare systems and ruined lives of a few generations...
When a man is guided by the principles of reciprocity and consciousness, he is not far from the moral law. Whatever you don't wish for yourself don't do unto others. Putin has forgotten that Mikhail was once a powerful global icon and is now reduced to a mere mortal man. He will be treated in the same manner even maybe worse.
no, the fact is that for 95% of the population, Gorbachev is like Yeltsin traitors. The fact that Putin said goodbye to him is his own business (not as president) And an official visit would mean a loss of rating and a flurry of criticism for Putin
You believe Putin didn't attend for his own safety? Is this meant as a joke? Putin did never like Gorbachev and most probable despises him. Putin followers consider Gorbachev as a traitor who panderer to the west. Do you really believe the reason Putin dictator did not attend the funeral in Moscow was for a safety reasons?
The main reason why Putin is not attending funeral is if he attends, most likely Putin will lose some of his supporters and he might create more opposition as well. So he wants to keep it low key and he is playing it cool as he can. I don't think all these reasons given here are not credible to me.
If you ask about NATO bases on Crimea, so yes, major of Russians supports Putin against NATO. Most of them who supports Putin is adult and have experience in 90th and now cuz Russians live much better nowdays. Moreover, I know non-Russians personaly, who support Putin against NATO.
In his attempt to return to politics, Gorbachev received only 0.5% of Russian votes. The fact remains, Gorbachev let the USSR slip to chaos instead with no back up solutions.

Russian social networks and media indicated the fact that Gorbachev was extremely unpopular inside of the country. In Russian culture the ethical norma says "Keep silence about dead people if nothing good to say". In my memory, Gorbachev's case is unique in term of how many bad wishes of hell, anecdotes, humiliating comments were released in public domain. Even Yeltsin who responsible for economic decline during 90th is less controversial figure in modern history of Russia.

In the west they called him Gorbi Surely the west is mourning their greatest collaborator and ally in the destruction of the Soviet Union. Those who love traitors let them mourn and whip for their hero is no more. It just like how the west mourn Mandela and millions of Black South Africans didn't. The west has tainted his character beyond repair and beyond rebranding. What this man did to the legacy of Lenin was horrible and cold. I am glad he was never murdered by anybody but let to live the results of his betrayal. The fact that he confessed that the west has betrayed him it means he had a deal with them to intentionally collapse the Soviet Union. I am not Russian but you should know that the oppressed world dependent on the USSR for their liberty from the draconian western oppressors and Gorbachev destroyed the only pillar that kept the west in check. The USSR was not about him or how he felt about the system but about how it assisted millions of Africans, Koreans, Chinese, Cuba, Indians and Eastern Germany to gain independence. He opened the door for separatists and narrow-minded nationalist to catalyze the dissolution intentionally. What Poroshenko and Zelensky is doing to Ukraine is not different to what Gorbachev did to the Soviet Union. A leader of a generation open to change.
A leader who wanted to preserve socialism.
@@markusberzborn6346 He was born into socialism, he knew nothing else... He was open to seeing the issues in his country & the relevant times & did the work to attempt to give his people freedoms which the current Russian president absolutely demolished.
@@Malfoy1594 This is complete nonsense. There is much more freedom today in Russia in ANY respect than in Gorbachev's times. Obviously you have never been there neither today nor back then. I have.
@@markusberzborn6346 Did I say there was freedom DURING Gorbachev's tenure? I said he was open and attempted to give his people WITHIN SOCIALISM freedoms. If you misinterpret what I'm saying so easily then you're an idiot.
Many of us still live in socialist countries in Europe & for the most part it works very well. The USSR was a combination of nations run under communism. It is NOT the same. Now the Russian Federation is on the slippery slope to dictatorship.
This is not surprising. Gorbachev had a great part in taking down the iron curtain and Putin is doing his best to resurrect it. R.I.P
Gorbachev whom the international community have enough respect do not like stupid power-hungry criminals who grabbed power after his resignation, blackmailed and destroyed Russia and the international community for their petty personal interests. Salute to visionary leader Gorbachev !
RIP Mr Gorbachev.
in fact he hates his guts for dissolving the Soviet empire which he obsesses about and would love to see reinstated
We need to understand most Russians absolutely hated Gorbachev. Gorbachev reminded them of the immense suffering of the Russian people.
This is complete nonsense. There was no democracy with Gorbachev at all. It came with Yeltsin.
Rip Gorbachev. The man who changed the USSR and the history of Russia forever
Biggest traitors in our History.. We all hate him

Pre.G is the Russian legend peaceful nostagical folk.He will be truly miss.
Because this guy Gorbachev destroyed the soviets instead of seeking peace and prosperity of the soviet union. I don’t blame putin.
Small Brain 🧠

@Abdullah Khan & now Putin is taking that "freedom of speech" gained after the end of communist rule, away from the people bit by bit. Any citizen that doesn't agree with him, particularly about the war with Ukraine, or as they have to say "special operation", cannot express themselves safely now.
He's involved in a War. He doesn't have time for funerals
Acting like his a soldier going in the frontline :/
Only his own 😆 🤣 😂
I was named after him ! RIP
Very clever Mr. President. Avoid of any attempt of assassination.
Farewell to the last President of USSR.
Gorbachev sold out humanity.
Mr Gorbachev meant well for his people but his people are used to being controlled and they found it difficult to adjust and reap the benefits. It's a pity his wife died earlier. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
Lol ''the benefits'' . The world to hell is paved with good intentions'' and incompetence.

Why would he?
When a man is guided by the principles of reciprocity and consciousness, he is not far from the moral law. Whatever you don't wish for yourself don't do unto others. Putin has forgotten that Mikhail was once a powerful global icon and is now reduced to a mere mortal man. He will be treated in the same manner even maybe worse.
Different times... Putin was respectful. Here are your just your speculatins.
By the way, Putin is not obliged to 'admire' Gorbacov.
For me it’s just speculation. It could happen to anyone to not attend a funeral for being busy…
no, the fact is that for 95% of the population, Gorbachev is like Yeltsin traitors. The fact that Putin said goodbye to him is his own business (not as president) And an official visit would mean a loss of rating and a flurry of criticism for Putin
Gorbachev failed USSR.
Condolence to the family of Mr. Gorbachev. RIP Mr. Gorbachev. Putin is not attending the funeral for safety reasons.
At least Gorbachov didn't have an 'FSB flying lesson'. Much more dignified.
You cannot "snub" someone who is no longer in this world. No problem--Gorbachev will not be attending Putin's funeral either.
It’s amazing that BBC is allowed to broadcast in Russia yet RT is blocked even here on UA-cam, who is more open?
The BBC was banned in Russia almost immediately following their invasion of Ukraine. Research, my dude.
@@CMichael2276 the fact is mate it is still broadcasting from Moscow, while RT remain blocked
What is the necessary appointment which Putin has that makes hin can't attend the funeral of Gorbachev?
Historic person and today in a short time ! Summertime Sadness !
The main reason why Putin is not attending funeral is if he attends, most likely Putin will lose some of his supporters and he might create more opposition as well. So he wants to keep it low key and he is playing it cool as he can. I don't think all these reasons given here are not credible to me.
Also because it would have been a prime assassination opportunity
Putin has supporters?
If you ask about NATO bases on Crimea, so yes, major of Russians supports Putin against NATO. Most of them who supports Putin is adult and have experience in 90th and now cuz Russians live much better nowdays. Moreover, I know non-Russians personaly, who support Putin against NATO.

And that my fellow Americans tells you everything you need to know about Putin, reminds me of someone else closer to home.
In his attempt to return to politics, Gorbachev received only 0.5% of Russian votes. The fact remains, Gorbachev let the USSR slip to chaos instead with no back up solutions.

I think Putin doesn't want to see Gorbachev's bloody head for the last time.
China can import a large amount of natural gas from Russia, and then resell it to European countries, making a lot of money
What's this got to do with Gorbachev's funeral funnyman?
Rest in Peace
Russian social networks and media indicated the fact that Gorbachev was extremely unpopular inside of the country. In Russian culture the ethical norma says "Keep silence about dead people if nothing good to say". In my memory, Gorbachev's case is unique in term of how many bad wishes of hell, anecdotes, humiliating comments were released in public domain. Even Yeltsin who responsible for economic decline during 90th is less controversial figure in modern history of Russia.
О мертвых или ничего или только хорошее. Так у нас говорят
In fair play, I imagine that there will be more people spitting on putin's grave than attending his funeral (which can't come too soon).

The US will never give New York and Texas their independent but expect Russia should just roll-over and die.
As an individual that’s political views believes of a strong relationship between US and Russia is necessary. I personally am sad to see Gorbachev death. I’m am paying my respects to a man that wanted nothing but peace between the two of us.
Russia asked many times in the 90s and 00s for cooperation and even to join nato and it was not answered also trump left the nuclear treaty gorbachev singed in the 80s so tell your complaints to usa
He's probably afraid that he will be murdered if he shows his face in a public place like that.
He already did.
