I remember Gerry Rafferty when I was in grade school and listening to this song among Baker Street and Right down the line. He was underrated in my opinion!
From Gerry's 1978 album, "Night Owl", this song was the 3rd release. Co founder of Stealer's Wheel, Gerry had previous hits with "Baker's Street" and "Right on Down the Line." This song ranked Number 21 on the US charts and Number 30 on the UK charts. The bass line is so beautiful, along with the perfect sax, the drums driving the beat home and Gerry's great vocals make a super song. Definitely shades of George, Harri, I agree. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and the Greybearded Music Man. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
This swings; and it's so catchy: there's more hooks than a fishing tackle shop. Miles better than Baker Street and up there (maybe eclipses) Stuck In The Middle With You.
beautiful, distinct voice and sound. amazing artist and singer-songwriter. not every song needs an “explosion” to be great, and this song is great. it’s supposed to be calming. an “explosion” would defeat the message.
I remember this song. Funny, I'm hearing a bit of Alan Parson's. Gerry Rafferty does not disappoint. I sponsored Right Down The Line a while back. Great pick GBMM. Glad you liked it Harri. 👍
This is a great song but is not reacted to very much. It is from Gerry's third album "Night Owl". You may want to listen to the title track "Night Owl" also.
One of the best voices in Rock ...ever!
The sax just floats in and carries you away on a soft gentle cloud ! Amazing!
My Favourite song of Gerry's.
Unique style.
Great Scotsman great talent!
Well you already know that I like Gerry Rafferty a whole lot. Thanks Greybeard MM and Harri.
A deep dive into Rafferty will not disappoint. ❤
Gerry Rafferty - Home and Dry.
One of my all time favorites.
Rafferty is under represented in thw reactions.

I love Gerry Rafferty and this song reminds me of another but I can't quite get it yet. Thank you Greybeard and Harri.
uh huh ! The Saxophone was the explosion in this tune :)
Thats a giod point
.Maybe it was..i never lokked at it from that point 😃
Everyone should have a bit of Gerry in their life.

How about “Stuck in the Middle with you”?
Night Owl was Rafferty at his best.

GBMM - I really like this piece from the very talented singer-songwriter Gerry Rafferty. Well played Grey Beard and Harri.
Soooo groovy. Love it

Great track !!! Totally love this track and the whole album. Thanks again GBMM.
Imo, one of the greatest lyricists of all time. "LIFE is a liar, LIFE is a cheat, It'll lead you on and pull the ground from underneath your feet."
Gerry wrote a lot of longer songs but his record company wanted radio friendly songs.
Yup love it my friend 😎👌

Agreed. "The Gold Bug" comes to mind.
A creed for life!
The beginning sounds so much like Alan Parsons
the bass line is staggering
Gerry brilliant singer writer, try his song island or the ark..
The title track on the Night Owl album is one of my favorites, describing his alcohol addiction
I totally agree with the tease aspect. The sax bridge is pretty explosive, and somewhat unexpected if you don’t know the artist’s biggest hit.
Cheers for the video mate 😎 👌
Brilliant man... his mate Billy Connelly was OK too, Humblebums 😂
Billy (Sir William) Connolly is one of the funniest entertainers this planet ever produced.

His best song!
Hear Hear. The EP is the better version imo.
Gerry is a songwriting genius,in my opinion as good as beatle mcartney, better than solo mcartney, world class,up with the best ever!!!
comment im too pissed and enjoying my day lol
You kind of went off on a tangent and didn't finish. What George Harrison tune were you referring to?
