Thanks so much for this tutorial video . You are so beautiful and your videos are amazing, can’t wait to try ! Please keep them more coming
Thanks 😊
love your vidios! It is so easy and quick to do.
I like how she showed us what we wanted to know in the first 10 secs but we still hung around just to watch it again in detail
Same.

Exactly
Yes!!! I can’t stand long intros so this video was amazing!!!🤩
She didn’t waste anytime!
Wow what the heck. We've really been over thinking makeup. It's so good to be reminded that it doesn't have to take 30 minutes to blend out our smokey eyes.
Yes. 😊
Totally this! ⭐️
no, youtube has been overthinking makeup. this technique is not revolutionary, but people want to make their lives extra hard, especially on social media
@@fave525 🤧 im a victim of that thunking
God yes!
I'm an artist and I use this technique when I'm painting on a canvas. For some reason it's never occurred to me to use it to put on my make up LOL! I will try it now..
Same!!
same!!!
Same!
I also blend eyeshadow with my finger often because it feels really similar to blending with charcoal or conte, lol
Same 😂
You've got to be kidding, I find it hard to believe you're a Pro.Make-up Artist and haven't had the Clue of using a sponge applicator before this ~ 2021~ when back in the day eye shadows came with the Lil Sponge Applicator. Of course for so many many years professional and higher end shadows haven't come with 1 any longer. I myself have worked in this field since the 70s and need to say, where have you been all this time? 👁👁❣👀
As a makeup virgin, FINALLY an eyeshadow tutorial that actually lives up to its "beginner friendly" title, doesn't require a million brushes ($$$) and/or several complicated steps. I was starting to get disheartened watching tutorial after tutorial like these supposedly designed for "beginners" until I found this one. Now, I'm actually looking forward to trying out this technique. You're saving so many of us time AND money. Subbed!
Yes!!! I completely agree!!! I was feeling so overwhelmed too!!!
Exactly!!!
I'm a makeup virgin too! I love Smitha Deepak and also TheMakeupChair, if you haven't already seen her.
Finally!! Thank you sooooo much❤
I'm 41 and just getting into makeup after 17 years of rarely buying it and also the first time I've needed to wear foundation. We didn't have this kind of selection when I was younger. We also didn't do much more than eyeliner and mascara 😅 I want to do a modern look but omg I've bought so many products and I still don't have all 30 products the "easy" and "simple" tutorials use. 😢
No fake drama
No extra filters
No big intro
No exaggeration
Just pure makeup
Don't forget "no clickbait", some of these thumbnails for makeup tutorials are insane.
For someone who hates putting eyeshadow this is a life saver
Did you try it?!
If you hate it why you putting it on
I cannot do eyeshadow blending to save my life...will have to try this as well...lol

I gave up on eyeshadow. My eyes are so sensitive and I’m 60. I tried your technique. It was so fast, simple and my eyes look amazing! Thank you so much for this video.
That's good. I find those whipped/ mouse cream eyeshadow pots tend to be very easy to use and better if you have dry and sensitive eyes and because it is cream it would be even easier with this dabbing technique.
Lots of Respect from Pakistan
Yes! Thank you, I'm so bored of beauty gurus who make unwearable heavy looks which are difficult to do, with products I can't afford, while talking about stuff I don't care about! This was so informative and useful, and you're really friendly and helpful. Keep going girl!
This was the best makeup tutorial I've ever seen on youtube. The intro showed what the video was in quick detail, and the actual video was about five minutes. Plus it uses things in eyeshadows that most people toss in the bin so it encourages using things more and wasting less. Thank you, Smitha!
I'm almost 40 and I started doing this technique instinctively as I got older. My eyelid skin moves and folds too much with sweeping motions and this causes skipping. The dab technique is great for mature lids. Even if you don't use a brush you can just tap with your finger and get a great eye look.
Same! And I use my finger, the less time I spend on my makeup the most compliments I get
@@lih1352 yeah, I'm so over the "25 eyeshadows and 50 brushes" for an eye look technique. 😂 How did we ever have so much time to waste? 😭
@@PujaWahi lol so true
girl if that's you in the pic and you're almost 40, you need to be giving US tips omg
@@farheennaqvi1052 that is so sweet of you. That picture was taken when I was 35 and sadly time has steadily marched on. 😂
But on a serious note, I find makeup can be quite aging when over applied. Use 1/3rd of what you might be tempted to and you will look better. I always leave something off. I never do the blush, bronzer, highlight, contour... Just any two at a time. Similarly for eye shadow, I find simpler looks are more youthful.
This was so refreshing to watch something new in the makeup community and for someone who struggles with layering eyeshadow this technique is super easy
Agree, there is so much to learn from this diva..
This is exactly what I wanted! No matter how many eyeshadow techniques I’ve tried, it always just looks obnoxious and unnatural on my face, to the point where I have gorgeous eyeshadow palettes sitting untouched in my makeup drawer. This is a game changer! 🤩
I am 50 and since I was in my 20s I have never been able to get eyeshadow to work. I tried this technique and it turned out beautifully in seconds! This works fabulously well for hooded and small eyes.
Dear sponge applicators... sincere apologies for cruelly discarding you and not seeing your true worth 😭
😂😂😂😂😅facts!
Yes sponge applicators. We’re sorry lol.
Sponge applicators have a place! Try them next time you want to add black to your outer corner... it will really help if you are not super experienced!
Simply Nailogical tried to tell you...Her teach me how to Beauty series.. lol..
Lolz, so true.
Eyeshadow application for the average woman who isn't on camera for a living 😁 love it. Way more useful than the dramatic stuff.
I draw the Eye of Horus with liner and call it an everyday look. At least my interpretation of everyday look😸
The great thing about this is that it makes blending so much simpler for hooded eyes, tysm!
I was thinking the same thing!! 😊
The technique looks quite simple. But i still dont know how to apply it on my hooded eyes. I mean still you wont see the eyeshadow because of the loose skin covering the eyeshadow when you open your eyes. Can anyone explain how to apply this technique on hooded eyes? @ Smitha it would be great if you would do this technique again on a hooded eye and then explain in detail. I somehow try and try but simply dont manage the other techniques on my hooded eyes. Anyway love the video. :)
Oh girl you said it! 🥰
@@Jasmin-jf9cv awhen you’re applying the eyeshadow, apply it with your eyes open while looking straight in the mirror. Because we have hooded eyes we will need to apply the eyeshadow above the crease/hood. If you apply it while looking straight ahead, it gives you the control to place it wherever you want to see it. Of course make sure you aren’t raising your eyebrows, you want to apply with your most relaxed face
@@eriseternity7 Thanks a lot! I will definitely try it again that way. :)
this whole video is already summarized in the beginning's few seconds. love it.

@@I-AgreeWithYou These eyeshadow "maps" have been on the back of Covergirl trios and quads for decades. That is how I first learned to apply eyeshadow.

As a person who struggles with makeup...thank you
Now we know why they gave them useless eyeshadow applicators 😂
😂😂
hahahahahahahahah
Slick........lol 😂🤣
🤣🤣🤣Right!
They are great for packing on shadow and are great for shimmers. You can find other videos on UA-cam that have more complicated looks using them too that don't take too long to create. Wide access to makeup brushes is a relatively new thing. Before it was just MUA that had a lot of brushes. The average woman used the spong applicators, their fingers and those makeup wedges. The plus side of brushes is that they are reusable for a longer period of time.
Just love that your videos are exactly what their titles promise. No clickbait, yas!❤️
Makeup Artists who learned the artistry prior to the 90s, learned to use those sponges rather than brushes to create beautiful looks just like you did. Makeup brushes are a wonderful profit making product for companies where the sponge applicators are not. I'm so glad I was trained on how to do makeup with disposable items. They are so much healthier for the client and they save tons of time because you dab the product on instead of windshield wipering it with a brush. Your skills are awesome!!!!

Are you kidding me? All this time and I’ve been struggling???? Girl, you are truly Heaven in a Box 💓 I needed this....
I can’t blend for my life but now feel confident. Will order an urban decay palette now.
This technique reminds me of how I was taught to use BareMinerals back in something like the year 2000. You don’t swirl the shadow, but you do use that same dabbing motion with a large kabuki brush to apply it. Thank you for a most instructive video!
This opens up endless possibilities. Who doesn't have those beautiful pallets just laying around because we couldn't make them work. Now l am excited to try this method with confidence. Yay
I absolutely love this technique and I'm so happy that you did an updated video with a different color palette. For someone who has hooded lids this technique is seamless. Genius....
Those sponges were my JAM for so long and I never had issues blending. I only switched to brushes due to peer pressure lol

Hello Christina🤩
Smitha, you're amazing! This actually looks like something I can do - all other tutorials usually were pretty demotivating and just too long to remember all the steps! Thank you so much! 🤗
Girl, Im in LOVE with this technique! Bravo! I find I avoid doing eyeshadow in the summer because even the application can make me sweaty. This simplifies things tremendously
I watched this video a couple months ago, and it has been a game-changer for me. This technique is simple and versatile. I'm so over overly complicated eyeshadow tutorials that use a dozen shades and take an hour to do. I've modified this method somewhat to what works best for my eyes (only that I apply the darkest color more in the shape of the number 7 that's slightly tilted instead of a straight line), and it works with pretty much any set of three colors.
Just tried this after YEARS of other techniques and I’m BLOWN away. Thanks!
I'm definitely gonna try this this is easiest way to pull out a eye look perfectly, you're a savior 😍😍😍
