This song describes a state of consciousness that we Hindus call Samadhi or Shunya in Buddhist terminology. It is a state which a spiritual seeker reaches where the distinction between the knower and the known disappears and there is just oneness. All the labels (of religion race country etc) made by the human mind disappear as the ego experiences temporary death ( thus the chorus - who is this bulla shah ? ) apoptotic . There is a stage of Samadhi called as Nirvikalpa Samadhi which is devoid of any form, of any polarities such as light dark, stillness travel, hot cold etc which is probably what Bulleh Shah experienced as it is evident from the text. The absolute reality in Hinduism ( Brahman ) is said to be Nirguna ( without any form ) Just like you cannot describe colour to a blind person you cannot describe Brahman to an ordinary person, You have to experience yourself. This is also probably why it is believed in Islam that the 100th name, the real name of Allah, cannot be said using words.

It is so heavenly pure, both the lyrics and singing...its spirituality so powerful, it gives a universal message of Oneness by Baba Bulle Shah, that all the human beings are the same... We need more of such messages in today's selfishly divided world.. Rabbi Shergill sang this so beautifully putting his heart and soul into the singing..God bless him..and also bless Pakistani people for showing their love and respect to the great Indian singer. This song describes a state of consciousness that we Hindus call Samadhi or Shunya in Buddhist terminology. It is a state which a spiritual seeker reaches where the distinction between the knower and the known disappears and there is just oneness. All the labels (of religion race country etc) made by the human mind disappear as the ego experiences temporary death ( thus the chorus - who is this bulla shah ? ) apoptotic
. There is a stage of Samadhi called as Nirvikalpa Samadhi which is devoid of any form, of any polarities such as light dark, stillness travel, hot cold etc which is probably what Bulleh Shah experienced as it is evident from the text.
The absolute reality in Hinduism ( Brahman ) is said to be Nirguna ( without any form ) Just like you cannot describe colour to a blind person you cannot describe Brahman to an ordinary person, You have to experience yourself. This is also probably why it is believed in Islam that the 100th name, the real name of Allah, cannot be said using words.

I m surprised when someone say we could not understand the lyrics, it is pure Punjabi, Bulla shah explained in very simple way that god, allah, waheguru does not live at particular place but it is universal and everywhere and only one. Bulla shah mazar is in kasur, his poetry is part of our school curriculum in Indian Punjab, our Punjabi poetry start from baba farid shakarganjh.
Punjabi poetry is Punjabi and it is not Hindu Sikh or Muslim poetry, Sufism part of all Punjabi culture, for ur information Sain Mian Mir was invited by Sikh guru to lay foundation stone, first brick of Golden temple, if our guru have included Muslim sufis poetry in our holy guru garanth sahib, why can’t we not read it?
