"I once had dreams of becoming a beautiful poet..." She did it! She's such an amazing writer, every thing she makes, touches my heart ❤
Lana explained in an Instagram live she did in 2021 that after she finished boarding school (where she was sent by her parents at 14 to get sober) she 'wasn't allowed to go home' and had to move to Spain and live with a family out there. That's why the repeated line in this poem 'can I come home now?' cuts so deep. A kid desperate to go home, or find somewhere that feels like home because they were rejected from their real home. Incredibly sad, but such a beautiful poem.

The way this poetry collection hugs the inner child in me, I sleep to it almost every night.
the way she said teach them about fire warn them about water , shes really meant it and idk why everyone doesnt pay attention to this line , its so dark she didnt have a mother so she doesn't know what to teach her daughter (mountains) about or what to warn them from so it got mixed for her cuz she learned about bad things and didnt know about good things so thats only what she knows so she's gna teach them about fire (bad things especially to green mountains) and warn them about water (good things to them) this line is so heartbreaking

And also she would warn them about water because water would be dangerous to her in the context of drowning which is something she mentions on the ocean blvd album talking about her youth.. So much depth here..

The see I have no mother and you do, a continental shelf a larger piece of land from where you came. and I, I’m an orphan a little sea shell upon your native shores line is my favorite ❤️🥺 plus the instrumentals by Jack Antonoff and Lana’s speaking voice add so much to the experience of this book

I know that there's also an unreleased song called LA, who am I to love. The full song has never leaked, but there was a snippet of it that was really different from the poem because it very was pop and upbeat. The poem and the song have completely different vibes and lyrics but I do think that them having the same name was on purpose
You are getting me more into Lana Del Ray. I can definitely relate to a relationship ruining places, whether a city or even just a common restaurant or stop that was routine for you and that person. Maybe your old ice cream spot is somewhere you never want to step foot in or even the thought of ice cream is disheartening and sickening. Anyway, she pinpoints in a beautiful way these thoughts feelings that can be associated with so many things in our personal experiences. So relatable in everyday life…
3:50 "Ït wont be my city again till Im dead" for my this verse reffers to her inability to go back to New York by personal/emotion reasons, but knowing that she will return dead and she dies because we are usually buried along with our family members in the same city/cemitery.

I wonder now, that you mention the wildfires of it ties into “wildflower wildfire” by Lana del Rey. That song she talks about how her mother raged at her and everything, man she’s so talented and intentional
I've always thought there is an association between this city and her loved one. I perceive it as a two dimension poem - expressing a complex love towards a city, wanting to be accepted by it (to have a home), but at the same time expressing these feelings to a person - so LA is a real person from her life at the same time. Anyways, these are just my ideas :) Thanks for a great clip!
