Sun in 8th... My mother would often tell me "Curiosity killed the cat". My retort being " Yes, but satisfaction brought it back" ;~)
My sun is in Pisces in the 8th and moon in cancer in the 12th and Leo ascendant...in tropical/western i am an Aries sun Leo moon Leo rising but this feels much more accurate with vedic.
Man! Blown away! I have Jupiter in the 8th house. Really into the occult it just seems knowledge falls into my lap. I know how to solve problems using occult means. Sexual vibes there also.

I'm divorced, take care of my son, who is a leo, rising leo, nearly all on my own. I work as a maternity nurse. Yes, I have faced some traumas at work and in my personal life for sure, but i feel everytime I do im stronger for it. I don't go looking for trouble however!...
It has found me enough over the years 😝.
I think in many ways I'm a fearless person. I feel I'm a bit more psychic or intuitive in my work than perhaps in my personal life. I'm an emotional person for sure. I struggle with staying grounded and independent vs. counting on others (resources or energy for help) and becoming overwhelmed for doing everything on my own. I've learned also that I can't do everything on my own, and need to learn to let go of the control and ask for help!
I love astrology, I have since I was very young, as you mentioned for the occult sciences, I also do yoga and need to meditate regularly. Yup, you summed everything up pretty good!
I hope what I'm writing can also help others who may struggle with their intense feelings from their 8th house aspects. We can be our own worse enemies at times! But as long as we can help others it can help to pull us out of our negative or darker selves.

I keep coming back to Jotish because you guys keep it real. I have Sun, Moon and North Node in Aquarius in the 8th. I also have a loaded 6th house which is also crisis, and it's been one trauma after the next. But finally I have a handle on it. I have an extreme amount of compassion for people in a bad way because I've been there. You nailed it for me when you pointed out this can occur because we don't move. So I would be still because I was unsure about what to do, and I have a feeling no matter what choices I made there would be crisis, so I would actually handle things by not acting. I guess it's avoidance. So many things happened due to a domino effect, so I would offer a hypothesis that we are often dealing with a domino effect of other circumstances that are hard to shake. Things that happen at pivotal points in our lives. My ethics are based on suffering. Suffering matters more than death.
Look I don't like this life at all, and at 47, almost 48 it's finally better because I partnered up with someone, and we share resources. So many people cannot take this kind of astrology and get sharp with me when I go this route in my gab about various topics, but looking realities in the face is much more helpful than a bunch of nebulous meanings for things. How does that help anyone? Anyway I'm just voicing my appreciation for your information here. I can't ride the dragon if I don't know his nature. :) It also astounds people in the prediction arena. I'm happy that we can find "vedic" explanations and the use of Tropical Zodiac is mixed in too. Such an exciting time to be learning astrology.

Very interesting! Love your videos, Ryan. I have Sun conj ASC/Pluto in 1st, Aries (Mars) on cusp of 8th with Mars in 8th! There is a vibe!! I do get along well with men - and work with them often - but some attention is not always wanted & you have to learn to moderate your energy. I love to wear black & shades - haha! I also have Moon conjunct Venus in Scorpio (in 2nd house) so I get along well & prioritize women but they are typically more yang - tough & strong & I come from a long line of strong women. (I have moon opposite Mars - ugh). 8th house energy is a blessing and a curse though as others have described & that can include stalking or pull in some bad elements when you are not conscious. I love to research, love metaphysics, have incredible tenacity & am in Real Estate and my close friends in RE also have Mars in 8th. (As does my father!) And we leverage financing - true to 8th house! I have a deep need for psychological & physical privacy & a sort of discretion and any mate that doesn't get or respect that is a non-starter. I usually attract men with Sun/Mercury in 8th, or in a decanate or duad of Scorpio (no matter what sign) and ones that have their female planets aspecting Pluto. I love men who are psychologically astute and have a sense of power, mystery & depth. Ay yi yi...I have strong Uranian influence as well that lightens all of this & working more on "surrender" for greater ease in my life but that "never give up" pull & love of the "edges" & risk is strong...Plutonians (or 8th housers) we always find each other, don't we?? ;)

Dear Lada: Good to hear from you. I need to make a video on this, because I do get this question often. However, I've got about 20 more videos to go before I am done with the current series. Maybe I can make a video for your channel describing this and you can upload it?
Basically, I look at cusps as concrete things. Many astrologers will use the 4th house and set that as the ascendant to get information about one's mother's life. The mother is a concrete "thing". I used to do that, until I discovered using the Campanus house CUSP system, not just using the degree of the ascendant in each house as the cusp. If the 4th cusp falls in the 3rd or 5th house I use that as the ascendant for mother. So if I want to read the chart to get information about the mother's life, I use the 4th cusp as the ascendant. If that happens to also be the 4th house, that is great. If not, I use the house that it falls in. This has proven to explain many things I couldn't get right before. However, if I want to know about the native's relationship TOO the mother, then I use the 4th house indicating how the person relates to their mother. These are different things.
Anyway, if you would like me to do a short video for your channel, I will happily do that, otherwise, it might be a few months as I do not want to break the sequence of the current series.

1. When you say crisis oriented, does that also mean that the person only thrives when there is a conflict or crisis? Does it mean then that the person always has an expectation that something "bad" is going to happen and that the "good run" cannot last? or should we check Saturn more specifically for that because of its practical outlook?
2. Also, having studied jyotish for a while now, i am quite confused when astrologers use the word cusp in their analysis. How do you use the cusp houses in your deductions? Is the use of cusp house analysis more prevalent when astrologers use the Tropical compared Lahiri?
correct about 1.
cusps are a source of confusion no matter what system you follow. there is an idea that western astrology or vedic astrology all share same ideas within their own camps. not true. even in traditional vedic, there are countless differing opinions and ideas. yes, cusps are very confusing at first. I hope to do a video on them eventually, but for now it's beyond the scope of this. also I have a full course planned for a few months that I will be offering as a tele-class, on cusps and dashas. very revealing. make sure you are following my blog, for updates on that.
Does 8th house apply to Life Path 8?
I have a loaded 8th house with all 3 malifics(tropical) conjunct jupiter on the cusp. I do have strong sexual energy. I also have my acendent lord Saturn in the 8th. I always wanted to be a forensic photographer. I do have nervous energy but I thought that was because I have alot of mercury influence in the rest of my chart. And for some weird reason when I'm really in love with someone I fantasize about wanting to die with that person. It seems romantic to me. :(. I'm obsessed with astrology and the occult. Has that been your experience? There are other vargas and influences to consider. But always remember, if you see a possible indication and it has been your experience, chances are it is.
do you use tropical zodiac or sidereal?. Tropical zodiac shows I have sun, venus, and rahu in the eight house in pisces (moon and ketu in opposition).

Happy to reveal that Jupiter is aspecting these planets from cancer by parashara aspects. Ketu is aspecting this clump from leo by jaimini aspects.
So obviously I wanna know(who wouldnt?) what this conjunction mean ?
And also, do you have any insight in what would create Bipolar Disorder? My boyfriend has ADD and bipolar disorder and also i am about to do an investigation for that(bpd or borderline i havent decided yet...:P because i have had so high/down mood swings).
I saw some clip saying if you have almost all planets on one side of ketu-rahu cycle you would be bipolar and i´ve heard rahu with moon would create bipolar disorder and that rahu in the fourth house would make one adhd/add.
Have you noticed any patterns of these disorders/diseases? Or can´t you tell by looking at the chart?

***** No problem Frida, but these are very intense questions that require more than the space in a youtube comment. There are many combinations for mental illness, you have hit on a few possibilities, saturn with the moon, moon in the 8th, 1st lord in the 8th etc., there are a lot, and they need to be judged properly. Find an astrologer who specializes in these things and set up an appointment. You will get more out of that.

What if 8th house lord in 6th house?...
Ryan, I hear you stress the dignity of the planets often and I perfectly understand that but looking at the Lajitaadi avastas the story (of good and bad) can often quite drastically change don't you think, in this sense that dignity becomes rather a nuanced thing to consider yes... I mean in the Rasi things can look quite awful but when examining the lajitaadi avastas you get a much clearer understanding of what's actually going on and things may seem less devastating or not..:-).

This is literally me. I'm Scorpio Rising (8th zodiac), 8th lord in 1st, dig Bala and conjunct angle within 6 degrees, 1st lord in 8th, Ketu in a Kendra conjunct an angle within 1 degree, and 8th Karaka Saturn in his own house, in an upachaya, 8th from the 8th, tightly conjunct Venus within 2 degrees and tightly aspected by Jupiter within 3 degrees. Basically, is the 8th lord in good dignity? Are the planets influencing that house benefics? Are there good Rashi aspects to that house. Is the 8th lord situated to support positive 8th house influences. Use any technique you have to help you determine if the 8th house and its lord are going to give supportive influences.

campanus system== jupiterR/uranusR in 7th w/ neptuneR in 8th
Use whole house system. Bhava cusps = campanus system. As mentioned that's an advanced topic. With this particular course, we will stick with whole house. Meaning if first house degree is Gemini, then following house is Cancer, third house is Leo, etc. Don't worry about campanus for now, I shouldn't have mentioned it. If you really want to learn about it now, go to Ernst Wilhelm's video site and watch the videos on Astronomy as the Guru etc. There are also great classes on bhava systems.
