Informative Speech about Gaming Addictions

- This is my very first upload. Some of it does not have much relevance to anyone other than my classmates. It is a recording from my speech class I took as a senior in High school. I know I stumble in areas but believe it or not, I was considered one of the best public speakers at our school. It is my absolute passion. Positive feedback and constructive criticism is encouraged. Please, no negative comments.

We watched this in my public speaking class and I kept fan girl squealing to myself when runescape was mentioned.

I teach public speaking in College, and am a public speaker, myself. Your speech was excellent, and I see why you are considered one of the best speakers at your school.You are engaging, fun, have great eye contact and body language, use humor, and relate well to your audience. That's just to name a few of your great qualities. Keep it up, Mr. MishDawg, but not with the on line gaming! (smiling).

Thank you, although I did this long ago, I have since continued giving speeches on various topics including major video games and sports.
Due to recent popularity of this video I would be encouraged to start uploading more, but all my saved videos were lost in a recent fire >.
All you have to do is keep people interested and make them want to listen to you. Acting energetic and adding things to laugh about get the attention of many people. Also give the speech as if you were telling a story, not earning a grade. You know the information. Deliver it the best way you can =-]
i maybe a few years late on this comment, but the video i thought was quite interesting, actually kept me hooked til the end.

All you have to do is stay calm. Of course everyone gets nervous in some sort of way when talking in front of people. But getting nervous is a good thing. That means people are willing to listen to you and you have a chance to send them information. you know all the information. A few breaths and telling yourself that your speech will rock will get you through it.
I would recommend you practice a few times in front of a mirror or camera and work on adding comedic parts.

I have always wondered why do some people dislike great videos? is it just to feel like they stand out.
I am doing my speech on video gaming addiction in 2 weeks. I am also a victim of the MMORPG addiction. Good to know I am not alone.
It is a response that my teacher used in substitution of clapping. We had a thin wall that divided our neighboring class.
I just calculated and discovered that i've spent more then 1200 hours playing league of legend. That's one game, i have played over 5 to 6 mmo(rpgs) in the last 6 years. Last week I picked up my guitar and started learning a track, smells like teen spirit by nirvana and after 3 hours i could almost play the whole thing. Imagen if i had spent those hours to playing guitar or just a sport. I'd be one fucking expert at it.... fml.
If you have enjoyed the games and playing them, then that is not time wasted, it it?
FinSituation "Enjoyed" roughly 60-70% of that time played was the time me being obsessed about becoming higher and very annoyed by every little mistake my team mates make and start raging. It was rather a goal seeking and achieving than enjoying it.
Fjerid Goals and achievements are important in life. If you spent your time raging on clanmates/friends then yes, time wasted. For me the reward of 99's or bossing or pking (not pking anymore though) is good enough to not make the worse parts waste of time.
FinSituation But in the end, here I am. Wasted that time, regretting everything. Wondering what kind of car i'd be driving if i worked instead or sport i'd be good in. Or something that matters in real life.
But I guess it depends on who you are. Some find gaming more important than real life, I suppose.
Fjerid Gaming is real life, you experience it, you live it, you do the things in it. Just because it isn't physical doesn't mean it's not real life, since it's you who does the work there. It's you who makes the joke in the clan chat for example. Its the real you, with real people. Sad to hear you spent time doing something you don' like. Why would you do that then? If you enjoyed it back when you did it, it was worth it. I doubt you would have enjoyed working more.

Great Speech, i was hooked on and kept focused the whole time. i'm doing mine about the same topic tomorrow (6/25/2015). as i see in you'r comments u were in HS and College i have the same thing here. well nice speech this really motivated me. use this for class. The intro is at the beggining (obviously =p) , When u hear the quote "According to. . ." that indicates a transition to another part of my speech. The structure of this speech is interesting in contrast to a typical speech. It has an Intro, an "according to. . ." (quote from and article), then a staggering fact about the overall topic, then more about me and how the topic relates to me (you could also relate yourself to the staggering fact), then another "according to. . . " then a staggering fact, then more about how the topics relates to me, then a final staggering fact and wrap up or summation of speech of how its pertains to me and reciting 1-3 small summaries of the speech. I hope this helped.

I started an account on legacy servers and OSRS and it is pretty fun. I dont play as much as I use to and now i am much more efficient with my play time.
Am I the only one who thought that the bozos laughing about the Farmville part completely missed the point? Yes, it is mildly humorous in a dark sort of way, but a 3-year-old child was KILLED by their MOTHER because they were crying while she was playing a Facebook game. Obviously, he did this for the shock value with a dark humor twist, but I found the way in which they laughed very inappropriate and indicative of them completely missing the point. Damn do I hate my generation.
I know exactly what you mean. I did it to spread the message of how bad it can become. The the way in which I delivered it was also not the most effective to have a serious impact. I take more of the blame on this one.
