We must first acknowledge that God is the God of the loving, in order to understand the purpose of praying to Mary, Saints, and Angels. Although the flesh is what dies, the spirit is what lives for eternity. As far as the rosary, there are historical videos to provide better explanations for you that i would recommend you to look into. I would recommend searching into a priest testimony on how the rosary brought him closer to God, out of sin, and into priesthood. Fr. Donald Calloway is his name. And as for the beautiful Mother of God, when we look into Luke Ch 1 and notice that Mary says "i am a servant of God," we should also notice that when Elizabeth approaches and her reaction. She approached with such love saying "Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb". Then we later see Mary herself say "My soul magnifies the lord and my spirit rejoices in God my savior, for he has looked upon the humble state of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed." The hail mary prayer used in the rosary is "Hail mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus, Holy mary mother of God pray for us now and the hour of death." Its simply meant to Honor her, which would be no different than to our loved ones in Heaven. For their spirit is eternal and rejoice as a family in Heaven, when someone follows Christ. The rosary is a tradition based off the prayer beads that Mary had. As i said, look into the history Fr. Calloway and he'll explain it better than I can in a comment lol. Rosary allows to meditate on the mysteries that put us in her view of being a witness of Christ. I just prayed my rosary and today (friday) was the sorrowful mysteries that made me cry throughout praying on meditation of Jesus's Crucifixion, while viewing it in the position of his mother. The prayers for the rosary are based on scripture and it is meant to allow us to meditate on scripture as we pray. Now i lovingly recommend Father Calloway and how he teaches the history of the rosary and how it impacted his conversion. I also recommend watching Father Mike Schmitz discussing Mary the beautiful Mother of God. I ask we all just remain with enough humility to learn past our misconceptions. I myself had similar misconceptions due to growing in a society that would always look at me with disgust when i mention being Catholic. Grateful to God for leading me back to learn my faith before considering any other. But nonetheless, please just look into it a bit more. Our faith teaches that our brothers and sisters in Heaven are alive in spirit. The bible says nothing about rosary's and you shouldn't be speaking to dead people, the bible says necromancy (speaking to the dead) is a sin. We must first acknowledge that God is the God of the loving, in order to understand the purpose of praying to Mary, Saints, and Angels. Although the flesh is what dies, the spirit is what lives for eternity. As far as the rosary, there are historical videos to provide better explanations for you that i would recommend you to look into. I would recommend searching into a priest testimony on how the rosary brought him closer to God, out of sin, and into priesthood. Fr. Donald Calloway is his name. And as for the beautiful Mother of God, when we look into Luke Ch 1 and notice that Mary says "i am a servant of God," we should also notice that when Elizabeth approaches and her reaction. She approached with such love saying "Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb". Then we later see Mary herself say "My soul magnifies the lord and my spirit rejoices in God my savior, for he has looked upon the humble state of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed." The hail mary prayer used in the rosary is "Hail mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus, Holy mary mother of God pray for us now and the hour of death." Its simply meant to Honor her, which would be no different than to our loved ones in Heaven. For their spirit is eternal and rejoice as a family in Heaven, when someone follows Christ. The rosary is a tradition based off the prayer beads that Mary had. As i said, look into the history Fr. Calloway and he'll explain it better than I can in a comment lol. Rosary allows to meditate on the mysteries that put us in her view of being a witness of Christ. Personally, the sorrowful mysteries always bring me to tears because im mediating on loving mother witnessing the process of her son being crucified. As Catholics, we follow scripture and traditions as well, the bible even states we cant have wisdom without understanding. So i humbly and lovingly recommend to search for true understanding on our practice. Whether we agree or not, but lets please refrain from disregarding God to be the God of the living. We do not believe those who have died of flesh, have a dead spirit, or are dead completely. Therefore all spirits are eternal and very much alive in the presence of God. We find it great for them to pray for us, because even in Job it mentions that a righteous mans prayer is more pleasing to God. Since they are in the presence of God, they are to be much more righteous than us. I just prayed my rosary and today (friday) was the sorrowful mysteries that made me cry throughout praying on meditation of Jesus's Crucifixion, while viewing it in the position of his mother. The prayers for the rosary are based on scripture and it is meant to allow us to meditate on scripture as we pray. Now i lovingly recommend Father Calloway and how he teaches the history of the rosary and how it impacted his conversion. I also recommend watching Father Mike Schmitz discussing Mary the beautiful Mother of God. I ask we all just remain with enough humility to learn past our misconceptions. I myself had similar misconceptions due to growing in a society that would always look at me with disgust when i mention being Catholic. Grateful to God for leading me back to learn my faith before considering any other. But nonetheless, please just look into it a bit more. Our faith teaches that our brothers and sisters in Heaven are alive in spirit. And since we are a family in Christ, and we all rejoice when someone follows him, then they would love us enough to pray for our continued guidance to serve God more and more righteously everyday.
