He'll admit it's only partway outside of acting; the acting pays for him to make whatever he wants and stay in a shop much bigger than he could otherwise afford, but his pieces are very good and earn big bucks themselves for sure

Tension is good! At least in a show I think mark was a more reachable attainable version of a everyday Ron Swanson you know a little sour a bit introverted with a touch of weird and twisted sense of humor but overall a good person, considerate and poised.
Mark was an astonishingly boring character but he did have the sole ability to check Ron when Ron was bulls****ing without fear, which I think they shifted to Donna a little later.
My now-neighbour who originally sold me my present home (after I moved out of the city and went rural), an old farmhouse in need of refurbishment , was celebrating her 80th with her family at a local pub... it was a big bash, triple-digit turnout...I was also invited.. As part of the refurb (which I was doing myself) I had removed some old teak window sills... I used one of them to make a hexagonal-shaped box with pine dovetail splines on the corners and put 6 coats of poly on to finish it... I filled it with Cadburys Roses chocolate sweets... I presented it to her and explained to her that it was made with part of her family home, she was overjoyed at the gift... That was 6 years ago and her farmer son says she has it in pride of place on her mantle and mentions it often... I'm happy she likes it.. 🙂 😎👍☘🍺

Woodworker here: a good rule of thumb is this: depending on the tools you have and the service that needs to be done, you can save yourself 100-300 dollars. Not always, of course, but simetimes.

It’s a very easy way without a good mold to have a nice amount of metal with a hole in the middle, I have no idea how he got the metal to cool enough to forge and quench in less than 20 minutes though!
The amount of damage the crib did to a truck from what was basically ford’s “everything is an armored car because safety!” Era is an amazing testament to Ron’s build quality. Kinda want him to build me a car body out of wood

I know we're all here to appreciate Ron's crafts, but i need to give honorable mention to the Harry Potter conversation shared between Leslie and Dianne.
If I heard someone talking about a conservative/libertarian character on a sitcom that's against government and makes boisterous claims about everything awesome he can do, I would think that everytime he tried back up one of his claims they would backfire tremendously agains him and we would laugh at how much of a clown he is. That's not the case with Ron Swanson, not the case at all. Whenever he claims to be able to do something you can bet your money he will be a master at it. In Ron's case, we laugh not because he's a bozo, but because he's a boss.
Ron never really does anything that would be considered politically incorrect. The worst one could say about him is that he's a bit judge-y an his views sometimes could be a bit toxic. He's a grumpy libertarian with a "Man's Man" attitude that's pushed so far it's a parody. BUT he's also courteous, caring and never has any issues about working with women or people of color. To my recollection he never does or says anything racist, sexist or homophobic. That's part of why the cast still loves him: He's just a great guy, _regardless_ of his politics.
So, i been living under a rock, (or working in the oil patch), i just started binge watching this show 2 days ago. It is by far, the greatest show, EVER. If Ann or April were single, i would actually travel to propose. JK. They'd be future exwives.
