I think this was such an amazing gift because Leslie loves Anne so much and her wedding ring being made from something that’s Anne’s must mean that much more

I like that he used a waffle-maker as a mold for their rings knowing how much Leslie loves waffles.

The fact that what Ron does for Leslie at the en is exactly what Nick did for the cast is amazing.
For those who don't know, to comemorate the show Nick Offerman used pieces of wood from the set to make his castmates wooden paddles.

My now-neighbour who originally sold me my present home (after I moved out of the city and went rural), an old farmhouse in need of refurbishment , was celebrating her 80th with her family at a local pub... it was a big bash, triple-digit turnout...I was also invited..
As part of the refurb (which I was doing myself) I had removed some old teak window sills... I used one of them to make a hexagonal-shaped box with pine dovetail splines on the corners and put 6 coats of poly on to finish it... I filled it with Cadburys Roses chocolate sweets... I presented it to her and explained to her that it was made with part of her family home, she was overjoyed at the gift...
That was 6 years ago and her farmer son says she has it in pride of place on her mantle and mentions it often... I'm happy she likes it.. 🙂

Ron never really does anything that would be considered politically incorrect. The worst one could say about him is that he's a bit judge-y an his views sometimes could be a bit toxic. He's a grumpy libertarian with a "Man's Man" attitude that's pushed so far it's a parody. BUT he's also courteous, caring and never has any issues about working with women or people of color. To my recollection he never does or says anything racist, sexist or homophobic. That's part of why the cast still loves him: He's just a great guy, _regardless_ of his politics.
So, i been living under a rock, (or working in the oil patch), i just started binge watching this show 2 days ago. It is by far, the greatest show, EVER. If Ann or April were single, i would actually travel to propose. JK. They'd be future exwives.
I know we're all here to appreciate Ron's crafts, but i need to give honorable mention to the Harry Potter conversation shared between Leslie and Dianne.

Ron Swanson is the only true Gryfindor on this entire show. He has great nerve, bravery, and is not afraid to show it off. He's also outspoken, brash and not afraid to ruffle feathers if he believes in the topic at hand. I would argue Leslie is a Slytherin. She is resourceful, ambitious, and deeply loves the group that she is a part of.

Lacquer is fine. A stain to color the wood and lacquer to seal it. But paint? Ruins wood. Lacquer over paint? Why?
Only time I use paint in my furniture is if it’s ugly or mismatched wood, stain or oil and lacquer is the way to go

So, either he bought the lamp that he made the rings from, meaning he is a sucker too, or, he made that lamp and destroyed it only to make two tiny rings! If he had the means to make that lamp in the first place, that'd mean he could have made the rings from scratch as well which would have been much easier, cheaper and quicker and he'd still have the lamp, also no need to repair and paint the wall either. Oh wait,.....I forgot this was a comedy show!

He skipped the part where you heat the rings close to melting and then submerging in water to strengthen them at the end. With that exception it could probably work.

If I remember correctly, the shop they show him in is Nick Offerman's actual woodshop. He has a successful business outside of acting as a professional custom woodworker.

He'll admit it's only partway outside of acting; the acting pays for him to make whatever he wants and stay in a shop much bigger than he could otherwise afford, but his pieces are very good and earn big bucks themselves for sure

Tension is good! At least in a show I think mark was a more reachable attainable version of a everyday Ron Swanson you know a little sour a bit introverted with a touch of weird and twisted sense of humor but overall a good person, considerate and poised.
Mark was an astonishingly boring character but he did have the sole ability to check Ron when Ron was bulls****ing without fear, which I think they shifted to Donna a little later.
The flute joke is low-key one of the smartest jokes on the show

It’s a very easy way without a good mold to have a nice amount of metal with a hole in the middle, I have no idea how he got the metal to cool enough to forge and quench in less than 20 minutes though!
