  • I take a look at the Manfrotto Compact MKC3 H01 tripod and give you my thoughts about this small travel tripod.
Also in other news I talk about my forthcoming exhibition Mill Road Faces, my recent street photography workshop and some awesome t shirts from F Stop Lounge.

Thank you guys. It took me 20 seconds to understand that I need to scroll down and see when the actual review starts.

If you make a video about a tripod then don't use the first 5 minutes and a halv minuts talking about some completely unrelated stuff.

takes 5 mins until he actually starts talking about the tripod :)

I'm confused. My head locks damn near perfect? I can lock it and wack it with my hand and it doesn't move an inch. I got mine at a thrift store, so who knows how many years it's been used. $5.99! Anyways, none of the leg pieces have fallen off yet either and it still works great. I love it.

Didn't know you get a tshirt review free with a tripod review

You're the 3rd one who failed to mention how a camera attaches and whether there is some sort of quick release system/plate. Can this flip upside down to shoot macro underneath or just close to the ground view? You didn't mention. Review... fail.

What a load of tosh! The tripod is worth every bit of £50. This guy must be on a retainer from a competitor.

This is a really bad review. I have this manfrotto and the ballhead locks securely. It is great for families that want the occasional family shot. It is lightweight and can fit into a suitcase very easy and with a strap or carrying case you can take it around. It is bad with panning and because you lock it by tightening it with a wheel, you reposition the the camera a few mm. It's not bad and most people will like it. I would not buy it again because of the two negatives.

+booboorhymes Can you tell me what camera and leneses are you using? I'm thinking on buying this tripod but my set is pretty heavy (Nikon D7200+Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8). Do you think it can hold a 1.5 kg set? Thanks

Hi, great combo! I used the d7000 and had a sigma 55-200, the nikon 18-55mm kit lens, the 35mm f1.8, the 50mm E-series and the 50mm f1.8. Not the heaviest combos. What I like is it is rather lightweight and small (46 cm collapsed). What I dont like, is that is practicly impossible to do panning. Even if you dont do video, you will get a bit irritated cus you can't position your cam as accuratly with the pistol handle that has a wheel to lock it in position. When you start to lock the roller wheel, the camera is being repositioned a bit. For panorama, portrait or group shots that can be disturbing. Also, max weight it can bear is 1.5 kg. If you would add a flash you surpass that. I would say get a tripod that can carry more weight and think twice about the pistol grip.
      Hope this helps.

Great review. Unfortunately I bought this Manfrotto MKC3-H01 and now it's in the basement getting dust.
I have Giottos VGR9265-M2N Aluminum. Not very sturdy but would do for I meant it for.

I thought this was a tripod review, not a t-shirt review?
    I think I'm getting old

So first you say it doesn't stay in place. Then you say you can smack it around and it stays in place. Then you say you can put the head on a monopod and it's great. That is the most contradictory review I've ever heard. Go get a day job please. BTW, I've had mine for years and it doesn't get loose and the thumbwheel doesn't click. Maybe you if you didn't strong arm it into something it's not supposed to do, it might last longer.
