We tried to change the song in Frost’s first year, it wasn’t good and it was changed back a couple weeks later. There’s ways to make the Tunnel Walk more exciting without changing the song. Use the flashing lights/light the stadium up red like the 4th quarter, get a better sound system, more smoke, maybe some fire like they do at Chiefs games, the pre-song videos the last couple years have not done anything to set the tone for fans and you have to find a way to get the guys amped up coming out of the locker room. The reason Jason Peters acted the way he did was mostly not because of the song, it was because guys like himself and Wistrom lit a fire under the team moments before the doors opened. Alcohol sales for sure do and ending grandfathered ticket prices will possibly have a pretty big impact on the experience bc overall it should lower the average age of fans attending. The biggest issue is the in-game hype moments, it’s been the same 2 or 3 3rd down songs for as long as anyone can remember and they’re not exciting. The songs they use in game are a much bigger problem (if you want to consider it a problem) than Sirius is
Here's an interesting data point. One of the things Nick Saban changed when he got to Alabama was the type of Music being played. He ditched the Old Country music for something hip and modern so that recruits would be more excited and the team would feel more energized.
People are forgetting they did change the tunnel walk in the Frost Era and it was a major flop. Maybe we could change it again and do it more successfully this time, but it’s just weird how everyone is selectively forgetting this was already tried and tried very, very recently Edit: and no, it wasn’t just Frost’s first spring game. It was his first few actual games too. I believe the Colorado game had Thunderstruck as the tunnel walk song
I know it's not super popular but play the husker version of red kingdom by techn9ne. He's a huge fan of nebraska and the university, and it's a song about the program. It makes sense.
Ok, Hear Me Out.... "Great Production and Video Department"??.... MAKE Our OWN Song and Beat!!💯 It Doesn't even have to be a Famous Artist or Group, No Age Parameters, No Copyright Restrictions, and it Doesn't even have to have Lyrics! ...Just somethin like "GBR!", "Husker"-something, or the "Gooooo Big Reeeedddd" chant to a Vicious, Commanding Beat!! #WeGotOurOwnIntroSong #GBR
Mitch is completely right here, the song is so dated! Some songs stand the test of time, this one does not. It’s not even loud or intimidating. I think it should be less about what song is used and just go with some different ones. Went to a few Oregon games and that’s almost like a concert over the PA with the amount of varying songs they play over the speakers. People are dancing and singing, it’s country it’s rap it’s Shout. It just works. What they don’t play is some British keyboard artist from the early 90s
How about a mix of Sirius at the begining then lead into Cum on feel the Noise when they leave the gate. Someone at the school should be able to make a smooth transition. The song is old enough to not offend older fans
They wave and “throw” a volleyball into a dark crowd, not real exciting stuff. IMO Blindly thinking “they can come up with something better” is just as much a wild thought as “it’ll be worse”
I agree that the tunnel walk is out of sync with what's happening with the player entrance. I would support changing the entrance song but I think you're going to get a lot of pushback by that. Tradition is important. Perhaps with some careful editing and coordination with the football team, we could make it better. The in game music is horrendous to be honest. When it's played what's played just needs to be reviewed. That's an opportunity to get more up to date. The most amazing pregame entrance song I've experienced is at va tech. When they play, Enter the Sandman and the crowd is into it that place is hopping. You guys know how important the Huskers are to the culture of our state. I think it's the biggest unifying factor we have .Lot of changes going on in society. Memorial stadium is a safe place. Not sure I would want to be a new AD that changes a 30 year tradition. Maybe at least have a winning record and go to a bowl game before you start mixing things up too much. Great show. Great topic
Nebraska just needs to make it great, and start with the UTEP game. Absorb the predictable criticism from the crusty’s and move on with it. Just rip it off like a band aid, but do replace it with a great stadium entrance. There are thousands of examples to draw from.
The Nebraska gameday experience has become so commercialized it’s disgusting. I’m sure that most stadiums are more like that now with more media timeouts but the choices of music are awful! Whenever the team gets any momentum they ruin it by playing some slow rap tune that just makes everyone sit down. I see other stadiums having group chants with the band or music playing. Nebraska needs to ramp up their mojo in this department big time!
There is only ONE reason the tunnel walk is ineffective now. LOSING! NE is no longer intimidating. A "new" tunnel walk would fall on it's face too if we aren't winning. A new "tunnel walk" would not make NE win again. If we were winning again, (when we are) the original tunnel walk would be intimidating and cool again. Get a clue.
Tunnel walk shouldnt be changed, like are you going to change enter sandman at va tech, gtfoh, however, every time ACDC gets played at memorial i roll my eyes because its a million times, play something newer that the players like. I'm going to be loud regardless

As a 20 yr old fan that tunnel walk is what makes me love the pre game hype. KEEP IT UNDOUBTEDLY

Bring back “Let me clear my throat”. The Oregon game is just 1 example where that really worked. Jmo

Blind by Korn or Out of my way by Seether should be the entrance song

If you're mad at Trev for leaving. His punishment is he is at Texas A&m
Disagree with Mitch. Sure enhance it BUt that song IS neb football. Gives me the chills whenever/wherever I hear it.

Try new songs when the team enters after halftime. If one catches on the n consider a change.

I could go the rest of my life without ever hearing the song Old Black Betty again
This was a running joke among a few of us in the media - 20 years ago!
