B-hyve Pro - Creating an account and pairing

Why do I have to buy the B-hyve Pro app? One would imagine it would come with the device as part of the purchase if advertised as a feature; no where does it mention that it's ~$10 to download.

The controller does NOT go into pairing mode automatically, and none of this actually works in the app.

Troy, I have the B-Hyve Pro being installed on 4/29. Did you ever resolve why yours did not go into pairing mode automatically after installed? Or did you end up having to press the button on the back side to pair to your app? Any other words of wisdom after you've used it? Thanks,
