Zacky vengeance been feeding the metalcore community for 20 years with that riff
As I lay dying made an entire album with this riff lmao
@@xezmakorewarriahnewer stuff a lot less so or at least different intervals albeit same scale/key
@@gagearmijo4150what's the album title? I haven't listened to As I Lay Dying and wanna check it out
5-7-8 guitar riff is pinnacle of Metal 🤘
I'm pretty sure the pinnacle of metal is actually 0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0. Slayer comes.to mind...
5-7-8, the holy trinity of metalcore riffs.
Bro "the riff" has been a staple since the 80's and I love it
They all sound like variations of the unholy confessions riff
I love it
The unholy confessions riff was itself a variation of an Avenger riff from 1985 which had already been done multiple times before A7X. They just have the most well known example.
@@jamrhein2which was very similar to a Judas priest riff, Electric Eye
As soon as I hear unholy confessions I knew knives and pens was about to be played
First time I ever heard that song I started cracking tf up. Were they trying to rip off that song?
@@cherryfroggodoubt it, it's just an easy combination. If you played guitar you'd know
It looks like "Through Struggle" from As I lay dying too 👀
Every melodic metalcore riff with the 5, 7, 8, 10 looks like another one
and also "One Good reason Why" from Bullet For My Valentine and "Don't Mess With Ouija Boards" from Falling In Reverse
For the soul of the savior by Darkest hour is a song that sounds like this back even before AILD and A7X
Ilia Topuria fucking shreds, who knew
I never realize that asking Alexandria and black veil brides Sounds similar. Thx. Good perf
I knew it was gonna be this before even tapping on it 🤣
Well played. Literally.
They all just sound like Spirit Crusher from Death. In fact metalcore riffs were inspired by melodic death metal
Basically, especially this bands in the late 90s Avenged Sevenfold pioneered the metalcore sound with Waking the fallen, thus creating the sun genre
@@justanothermando8834 False, Avenged Sevenfold didn't invent Metalcore. It was created by Hardcore Bands that experimented a fusion between Beatdown Hardcore, Groove Metal, Heavy Metal and Death Metal. Bands like Earth Crisis, Merauder, Shai Hulud, Strife, Hatebreed and Integrity are early examples.
Then during the 2000s Bands like A7X, Trivium, Killswitch Engage, Bullet for My Valentine and Parkway Drive pioneered MELODIC Metalcore, that took the Metalcore sound and fused it with the guitar melodies found in Melodic Death Metal, and adding a bit of post-hardcore to the formula
this is why i never understood metal elitists that like death but not metalcore/deathcore cos its "not metal". reason why i personally like death is cos its basically just metalcore/deathcore without the cleans and the last time i said that i had bunch of elitists said i was wrong and they're nothing alike
@@perro7391 Metal fans arguing over metal genre and who created this or that ....All I see right now are a bunch of little school girls arguing at the playground "yea" "no" "uh huhh" "nu uhhh"
Sound so similar i could barely recognize the difference between the 3 of them
That 5-7-8 riff
This is like burning low - too late for roses
I just knew it was gonna include Unholy Confessions
Knives and pens BVB riff mixed in 😍
killer playing bro
knives and pen amazing riffs
That Padge guitar in the back is sick man.
Tbh i love that style of metalcore riffs
Frail words Collapse is one of the best metal albums hands down and As I Lay Dying used this entire riff and variations of it for the whole album lol
You just made me realise why I like all three of these tracks! 😂
A7x, asking alexandria, black veil brides
@@enzobauzasoriano1267 daaaaamn his version is better than the original xD
Bullet for my valentine - The poison also has a riff that sound similar with these
Hell yeah man these riffs really take me back!! Especially the first one, it was so common but so amazing. Man that first one reminds me of this one band, Summers end? I think, they were very "Halloween themed" you should check it out it sounds identical
When you listen to in flames or at the gates once
"Breeeeaaaathingggg and graaahhhhhspiiing ALLLL LEEEAADS TOOOO another messy endiiiiing."
As I lay dying. Middle school flashbacks.
Bro ur knives and pens omg so goood
You forgot "Crawling through Knives" by in flames. Very very similar. Suppose you could write a book naming all the 5-7-8 riffs. My favourite to play is "empty inside" by all that remains
A7x made that riff sound the best too
The second one is bullet for my valentine and the third one is black veil brides.
glad someone else also realised they sound similar.
FERK YEE DUDE 🤘 I'm always a sucker for dat 050708 jank lmao
love how these sound so close to the original 🤘🏽this guy fucking rocks ❤
Suffocating under words of sorrow, aswell
I feel good because I had these 3 songs on my playlist before I seeing this video :D
What ? That is Amazing!
''As I Lay dying - Reinvention has entered the chat''
Man i want one of your beuty guitars !!! Hi from Argentina. Keep the good videos i love bfmv
There are two riffs that although aren't metal core, they are similar: in the song Parasite Eve of BMTH after the first chorus most of all you can hear a badass riff, and in 2022 Muse released the song Won't Stand Down and a very similar riff can be heard before and after the choruses
Loving the BFMV Paget signature
Love the tank top
Love those guitars my friend. That Rhoads pro is super sweet! Also that BFMV LTD.. MMMhmmm! \,,/
Activated my headbang reflex
That blends to well
Ah, the 2000's. Back when we understood and loved that metal bands took inspiration from one another and didn't "steal their music"
Every band was 5 7 8. Once I started learning the guitar I realized how much riffs sound almost identical
Nice job Ilia Topuria I hope you become champ this year
Это реально единственный любитель острых углов на ютубе 😮😮
Black Veil Brides - Knives and Pens. For those that are wondering.
Bro knives and pens is so unbelievably easy when you get into the "intermediate" stage
You couldn't be more correct , the intro riff is piss easy , but the one thing that I keep having a small hiccup over is the before the chorus 20th fret shit
Riff like breakdown of sanity - Read My lips
Over the years, bands have just collectively thought "there should be more Unholy Confessions" and just went for it.
Billy Talent called, they want their Reckless Paradise ep back 🤣
lmk when u play the next riff
That 7-10 trill to 6-9 trill reminds me of Gwar.
Bvb-knives and pens
Okay this comment section is literally a gold mine for some great metal core and 80's metal song recommendations!!
Dam that's crazy I never noticed that lol
in the intro im thought was "spirit crusher"
Nice playing the 🎸
Que video más original no lo había visto nunca
0578 in drop d will never die!
Unholy confessions is still such a banger
That riff is literally the pre chorus riff to spirit crusher.
Rip Jimmy the rev Sullivan!! Love you man!!
Revenge Attack! by Avenger is the first use of this riff to my knowledge.
Sweet guitar 👍
If you guys like this riff, listen to some of the underground straightedge metalcore or “edge metal” bands out there, you’d probably mess with them. Ictus, Undying, xElegyx, Balmora, Dead Blue Sky, Azshara to name a few
Riff unholy and knife and pen 8🔥🔥
写着柔声细语弹着高增益RIFF😂
Ahh yess, i vi v in minor keys
The last part
black veil brides - knives and pen
Don't forget early bullet for my valentine
originates from avenger - revenge attack
You can actually go back farther. It's just Paint It Black by the Rolling Stones with distortion and palm muted.
thank you for the venom is also similar
Sweet guitar
Attack attack - What happens if i can't check my myspace when we get there
Check this song
It also sounds pretty similar
To whom it may concern - There for Tomorrow
Is another one too lol
Asking alexandria, avendged sevenfold and black veil brides .... old stuff
Pumped-up dudes are kind of a staple in metalcore. I see that's still the case. For some reason, the genre just stimulates insane muscle gainz.
Check crawling through knives by in flames. You get a 4th riff
The annoying thing about old school metalcore. The drop c 5-7-8 riffs that all sound similar
You look so gentle
This is the metalcore counterpart to Smoke on the Water, except I don’t know more than one song that starts with 0-3-5.
This tone sounds good, What are your settings?
When you and your guitar have matching tattoos 😂
A7x, Black Veil Brides, Asking Alexandria... fuck i gotta get out more
A7x back in 2003: Wow dude that‘s sick!
Guitarists the last 18 years: It‘s free real estate
Not anymore. That’s Architects that’s getting ripped off now
First band to do it (to my knowledge) was Avenger in 1985
@@BobRocksGuitar and i'm so sick of it. Metalcore is sooooo boring nowadays 🙄
@@getscared_x3 it literally isn’t.
@@getscared_x3 I don't think you've listened to metalcore made in the past 5 years.
