@@LearnedSophistry I'll take that but I truly think picking a guy that wasn't supposed to be much coming in to the point he puts them in the "5 Pitchers I Like" video... And then the guy gets the Pitching Crown and by that probably a unanimous Cy Young pick. That's when you have to defy the laws of the human body just like Sale did. The only other time a recent memory I've seen a better pitching season coming off an Injury was 2022 Verlander. Coming off a Tommy John surgery going into a year of being 39 years and throwing the lowest ERA season the AL West has seen since the millennium is crazy. That maybe would have been in consideration for the "MaCHAMP" award. Because that might be 4 thumbs up in all honesty if he selected Verlander before 2022
I appreciate the reprieve from sports betting sponsors. All power to those who enjoy it, but I'm so tired of seeing ads for it within, not only baseball, but every sport I glance in the direction of for a microsecond.
Looking back at that video, he put Ohtani barely in the top 10 as a hitter. Would love to see his reaction to him being one of the two best hitters in baseball despite the rehab from the elbow surgery.
3 cheers for Mike Imanaga 🎉 Arguably the best free agent signing the Cubs have made in years when you consider his very low price tag for how well he pitched in his first year.
It's not hard to be the best signing, when your other two FAs were DFAed by mid year. Though the Busch trade was really good, and we finally got to reap the benefits of the 2021 Javy Trade
Thank you for not doing gambling ads. We are inundated by it, and I've lost a good deal of respect for some creators who seem to have sold out to an industry that ruins lives.
i loved the shota imanaga signing, i loved that you supported him too, and he was excellent!! top 5 in rookie of the year, probably getting a few cy young votes too!
As a Giants fan I knew in my heart that Ryan Walker was going to be absolutely filthy this whole year. Wasn't expecting Doval to do so poorly like that, but I would definitely like to see Walker as the main closer next year.
That Chris Sale breakout pick officially tops the Austin Riley one from 2021. This is why I think Bailey should pick Orlando Arcia, Jarred Kelenic, Spencer Schwellenbach, and Jorge Soler for 2025 breakout picks (I’m definitely not a Braves fan)
Glad that someone has got eager to sup at the tit of the gambling advert cow. Kudos...... It's gotten so bad that I saw a history of punk rock video starting with a sponsorship to sports some gambling site. Now that just screams PUNK ROCK
The Foolish Fifty rankings and reactions are some of my favorite baseball content of the year. I'll be putting "*rotates hand diagonally back and forth with palm facing downward indicating an unsureness* soon" in my calendar!
I got to say some of those fakeout gradings are absolutely silly. Castellanos is one of the worst defenders in the league, his offense regressed to about League average, the result is him being one of the most overpaid players in baseball and a huge detriment to an otherwise great Phillies team, one thumbs up. Schanuel wasn't terrible but as you mentioned when you picked him, he was Vegas 4th for rookie of the Year, the season was well below expectations, one thumbs up, neutral if you're being harsh, one thumbs down is just dumb. If you weren't so crazy harsh on those two picks this would be your best year yet.
@@JacksonPrice-j6h Watching previous ones of these makes it pretty clear that this is not the case. He's obviously going to give a catcher more credit than a DH. Cause over a season that's almost 3 war just from positional adjustment. Though you may be right that he doesn't value it as much as he would in the foolish 50.
Seeing Chris Sale absolutely cook the league makes me so happy because I knew from the moment he signed the Braves would use their devil magic and make him an absolute monster
4:28 not going to pretend to have done the analytics needed for it to be completely on Woo; but Willylitics had the vid on Seattle being so K friendly, thoughts on treating it as a more fair Rockies knock? Since the park itself actually does seemingly make a difference that should be noted?
Red Sox fan here: Give yourself two thumbs for TON. This was only the second time he played in 100 games, so his season went as well as one could reasonably expect.
Nah. He got hurt for no reason, slumped at times (as noted) and didn't play enough to count as a two thumbs. .240 30-31 is weirdly, a dime a dozen now.
Hot take: The first round of the MLB playoffs should also be 7 games. Every NBA series is 7 and their season is half as long. Give us more of the good stuff. The wildcard should also be 5 games
-2 for Garcia seems a bit too harsh. He wasn’t insanely hyped up for this year, and still provided utility defensive value for a playoff team. When compared to Gorman, who was on track to potentially become an all star caliber player, and now may never become an everyday starter, I think it’s clear that Garcia was a tier above, and I think should only be -1 if not neutral.
Sounds to me like you've become a really good evaluator of pitchers (although, to be fair, the Sale pick was very lucky), and merely an OK evaluator of hitters. I wonder why that is-are hitters generally more volatile when it comes to their peripherals versus expectations?
one thing i noticed as a royals fan is that Maikels stance and stride changed and looked rather uncomfortable about 1/4th of the way through the season. in the clips in this video you see he has a clean straight stride with good extension, but any clip of an at-bat you find later in the season he steps more toward left field and doesn't get nearly as much extension on his hands. hopefully he can figure it out in the offseason, as i was really high on him as well
Tyler o Neil was a great pick. I think that concussion probably derailed his season a bit. I know he had some other injuries, but man concussions can really change the trajectory of a season.
I still can't believe the dull wet thud Sale's signing with Atlanta seemed to arrive with. Everyone acting like he was completely past it and couldn't throw a ball anymore. Injury prone does not mean unable to bring it. It just means bringing it intermittently. And if you do it for an entire season, welcome to the Cy Young party.
No reason for anyone to believe he still had cy young potential in 2024. Idk I don't see why you would think his 2024 was predictable. Maybe a 12-8 w-l 3.5 Era was a hopeful expectation got him. Beyond that was very unexpected, objectively

I feel like castellanos should be neutral at worst. Sure, he had a decent year, but as a bona fide DH/terrible fielder, you need better than slightly above average with the bat, and he’s been better than that in the past. I personally give you credit with a thumb up for that one
blaming the pitching coach is a little weird; you're clearly forgetting the stretch in which the triple-headed monster of alcala, jax and duran dominated. i'm just saying if you think it's Maki's fault, you're going to be disappointed when things go bad next year. that's all i'm saying

First 3 thumbs up ever for Chris Sale (human anatomy won't allow it, but it also hasn't allowed a healthy Chris Sale season in a while so whatever)
It also didn’t seem like human anatomy would allow sale to pitch a full season ever again so I think 3 thumbs up is fitting

If you ever want an easy "Players you dislike" pick, just find the Mariners' biggest offseason offensive addition, and put that player on the list.
Don't worry seiya suzuki will cook
or, just make the entire list mariners offseason additions if you want to play it safe
