- I'm going to spend a night in Tokyo Japan, sharing some useful information for first-time visitors. This is not a guide video. It's a POV vlog. I wanted to try my simple idea and enjoy the stay. It turned out to be really good. I hope this helps your future Japan travel.

Should admit that folks in Japan are ones of the most helpful I've ever encountered. During my first visit I got lost on one of those metro lines and asked for a guidance to a random stranger. The gentleman put his travel route aside and kindly escorted me to a proper line and waited along with me to make sure I hop on the right one))) And yet he didn't speak any English at all. For a sake of comparison, when I had asked for a guidance in Lima, Peru, a person grabbed my map and runaway 🏃♂️ 🤣.
Same thing happened to me, I got to Japan a few days ago and a really nice guy helped me all the way from the airport to my hotel, even with my heavy suitcase, I'll always be thankful, it would've taken me all day without him
Not just when you're in Japan, either. I've never been there, but I've known some people from Japan who helped me and some of my friends out when we got our car stuck in some mud. They were wearing very nice clothes, but they didn't hesitate to stop their vehicle and help us get the car out. They said that they were from Yokohama and that this was their first time in Canada. Also, there have been other times when I've heard of people from Japan being very helpful when away from their home. I've also known some people from Japan personally, and they've always been kind and gracious and very polite. A lot of fun as well.
Man if only people like that were in USA 💀💀😭😭
I'll be in Japan for the first half of Feb 2023. This will be my first trip outside of the US and I really appreciate this video's existence.
I truly hope you have a wonderful experience! I know my first trip was amazing so I send good vibes for yours :D
Enjoy your trip, gonna be fun 😁
Safe travels
just don't be a creepy weird asian fetishist
Have fun and safe travels!
I love this channel. My father was raised in Japan because his father worked there. He spoke fluent Japanese, and knew many of the customs. I've always had a fascination with Japan and your channel is the best one ever for travel and seeing Japan. Hopefully I can visit one day. Thank you.
We hope to see you in Japan soon!
I like how you set your priorities. Cut corners where you can (like cheaper hotel) and be more efficient with your time so you have more time and money to eat! Perfect!
I have been waiting to watch this until I became brave. I have now booked my flight into Haneda for last week of March - first week of April! It will be my first time in Japan and alone. I'm terrified in a good way. I hope there will still be sakura in Tokyo. Thank you for all your vids that help me understand Japan.
Do not be stressed, its totally okay think of it as an adventure. Me also I am going alone to Tokyo for the first time in the 1st of March, yes many things are confusing but I am excited for the experience
Hanami time (sakura blossoms) should be right there when you visit Tokyo as it usually starts end of March first week of April, I would recommend the wonderful Shinjuku national garden (Shinjuky gyoen) to watch it and also at the Ueno park, but there are many other spots. If you can travel to Kyoto it's even better during Hanami. Enjoy your trip !
You will love it! Enjoy your trip.
@Yami do your research and you'll be fine 🙂
When I was in Japan, nearly 30 years ago I stayed near Shinjuku. I landed at Narita and was met by one of the guides from the RENGO organisation which I was visiting. I was with a group of Union women, some from South Korea, me from New Zealand, and one from India. We went to the hotel by bus. I happily ate everything that was put in front of me! After 10 years of Aikido I had "dojo Japanese" so I could be polite and find my way around. I even knew the word for those "rotary" sushi trains.
I'm glad you clarified that that green powder was tea. My first thought would have been powdered Wasabi. I would have made quite the mess of my meal.
I love Japan.. But I never been there.. Saw ur videos.. My love for Japan growing day by day.. Really Japan is awesome country.. Arigato gozaimasu for ur videos 💓.
As a American who’s been in the US for 20 years. I would love to go to Japan so much!!!!
i recommend staying in the Ueno area for Tokyo newbies rather than out by Skytree. Transfers make it tiring if you have any luggage. Ueno is on the JR Line YAMANOTE Loop (great way to get around to all the tourist spots) The area is fun, there are MANY inexpensive hotels, Ueno park has beautiful shrines and temples, and the Ameyokocho entertainment area along the train tracks is great for food and shopping and old Tokyo ambiance. Plus you are only a few Ginza Line metro stations from fantastic Asakusa and from there one stop on the Toby line to Skytree. Ueno Station connects easily to the airports and Tokyo Station for the Shinkansen as well.
this is so thoughtful to do especially because tokyo train travel is overwhelming. solo travel vlogs like yours are so cozy and encouraging, thank you!
A good vlog! Even if I cannot afford to go just now, knowing how chill it can be to travel solo makes me feel like I can do it easily. Shame about the weather over the two days, but it's no problem if you're going to be indoors a lot and have an umbrella
Hotel crew:
'Good news: we have another guest staying today'
Bad news: He is 'all-you-can-eat' STJ
Bad bad news: He is tired but hungry
Very bad bad news: He will eat all of our sushi tonight... :)
As always great vid and another great journey. Thanks for sharing :)
With Japan slowly reopening to the global public, your video gives us a good idea of what it looks like!
OMG! Kura is soooo much cheaper in Japan! Here in the U.S. it's something like $3.69 per plate! If the prices were the same as in Japan I'd probably eat myself to death like a goldfish and end up floating to the top of my fishbowl....
I like that you can get a PASMO card now as a foreigner. A lot easier than carrying around a pocket full of change for the Vending machines/busses.
Yay! A new video! Always enjoyable. ❤️👍🏻
Watching your channel keeps me excited about my trip to Japan in October 2023. So super excited and I can’t wait.
Travel can be exciting/exhausting, travel to a new place even more so. A stress-free first night with good food and good sleep will set the tone for the rest of the trip. A simple, but very important idea.
Thanks for the videos!
ahhh it's very good there is a Japanese person who made a video on how to adapt to Japan for the first time coming, it's normal for the country to be more sophisticated and advanced like Japan for outsiders to feel overwhelmed wanting to deal with
That looks like so much fun! The sky tree is beautiful! And I have to say, the plate eating machine may be the coolest invention I have ever seen!!
Perfect! Very informative and just filming with real sound adding info on screen. And most important: showing the real place instead of filming selfies! Keep up the good work!
Thanks again for a great VLOG. We were supposed to be in Japan right now, but had to cancel a few months ago because of the travel restrictions (now lifted, darn the bad timing). It's nice to see something not from a ferry. Showing train and bus options from the airports is of great help as well as budget friendly hotel options! I am not looking forward to the confusing train terminals. Now I wonder what your next great VLOG will be about.
I think one of the reaosns I enjoy your videos so much is that you and I share the same all-you-can-eat philosophy - try it all! Great video, as always
Watching this brought back many fond memories of flying into HND and eating at the sushi conveyor restaurant in Yokosuka. Never had any sushi back here in the states that compares. Thank you for another great video!
In case anyone is wondering, The song playing at the station at Haneda is Paprika by Kenshi Yonezu. I heard that and was like "Ohh my gosh that's so cool!" Took me a few minutes to recall the name.
I've lived in Tokyo for 6 years now, NHK had a special segment for this song about a year or 2 ago.
Been to Japan twice , had such a wonderful experience .
Thank you for sharing your plan! I've been to Tokyo five times and I think this is really easy to understand.
While the chances of me ever managing to go to Japan are incredibly small, I enjoyed this video a lot, and I'm sure it will be very helpful to a lot of people. I love living the Japan travel experience through your videos.
Thank you so much for all the useful tips and information.
i find your videos very relaxing, but then I get hungry watching you eat all the yummies.
I was thinking about go to Japan someday, i really appreciate this content. I would like videos like "must go" in japan like this! Thanks a lot about the time you take to give us great videos! Greetings from Spain!
This is a very helpful video, showing things like how to get your train pasma that is the type of simple thing that is completely confusing when you have done a 10 hour flight and arrive in the middle of the night in Tokyo. more videos like this are very much welcomed.
this was stunning to watch it makes me so happy and to travel once in my life
im travelling solo to tokyo in january , can't wait
I grew up in Tokyo (9 years) but just started college here in the US...your videos are super helpful since I feel super homesick so I just wanted to say thank you :)
Thank you for the very helpful information 👍
I love your vlog, and it's really helpful for me as I am planning my first trip to Tokyo soon...
I started watching your videos last year. We will be in Japan for the whole of April and can’t wait to finally see everything that you’ve shown us!!!
Planning on visiting Japan for my 25th birthday next April, thank you so much for this video!
Nice to see tips for first visitor! Metro and train travelling was good info and especially for direction part.
The Edo Street at the Haneda Airport......I had witnessed better days
Heh heh, Paprika as the station melody at Haneda... Throwing seeds into the sky. Nice!
I really enjoyed this. Kura was amazing looked fun.
That was a good tour 👍 I’m really looking forward to visiting Japan 🇯🇵 next Summer.
What a fun video! Thank you!
I’m heading to my first trip to Japane next April. Your videos are so helpful and informative! Thank you and I’m taking 📝 that Kura sushi place!👍

Great travel guide..You make it easy to understand...The view from the tower was stunning. The Sushi looks 😋 Hotel room comfy...Excellent vlog..Thank you
Good timing for use by foreign travelers who are now able to visit Japan
Thank you for the informative video !!
Tokyo is absolutely beautiful 😻 I’d love to visit some day. That plate slot was so neat!!! I’d order a lot just to slide the empty plate into it 😂
Awesome video, its very clear you enjoy making this content, very enjoyable and appreciated.
The sushi does look delicious! Thanks for the informative guide.
Thanks a lot for letting us take part a lil bit 😉👍🏻👏🏻
What a fantastic video idea.
So much good advices in teh comments. Love it
I'm hoping to make it to Japan next year!! I've been wanting to attend a SuperGT/Super Formula race for a long time!
Excellent pointers for newbies. Excellenter cuisine!!!
Legitimately cackled at the bad news / good news 😆
Thanks for sharing, maybe one day I'll get there
Thank-you for this video. If I should ever be blessed enough to visit Tokyo, then I now have some ideas of what to do and how to get around a bit.
I don't like sushi, but the conveyor belt restaurant is a great idea. The food arrived fast and good, and I love the slot into which you put your dishes when you're done. Also, you can play a game while you eat if you want. Fun!
That restaurant with the food on the belts is so cool!
I love your videos!
Thank you, that was fabulous and now I'm excited about planning a trip to Tokyo from Australia! I love your videos.
A great plan. And a great help. Thank you!
I've been in Japan since January for work (with alot of time off). You captured alot of what I love about Japan. I tried driving the other day and I still preferred the easiness and reliability of taking the train. Hotels are simple and nice with alot of good amenities. And oh my god the food. The hard part of finding a place to eat is that there are too many good options, and they are sooo delicious for their price! I've been staying in Mercure this whole time and I stand by their brand, Accor. Mercure, Pullman, and Swissotel from Accor have all been absolutely amazing here.
How much per night?
Great insight for people who travel to japan, bravo.
Thank you for the tips.
An introverts dream restaurant 😅 I love that you don't have to interact with anybody.
I was thinking the same thing
Easy and useful plan. I am going to use this for my trip.
With Japanese borders opening up, this is a nice video for a start
Very useful information, especially for those of us who have no idea how to speak Japanese. Thanks
Love your beautiful video n plan thanks for posting
wonderful! Thank you!
Looks like a fantastic stay in Tokyo, thanks STJ.
That room price is unbeatable in Tokyo and those sushi's are basically the same price as you get them when they are on sale after 6pm in the supermarkets, these are really good deals
I was delighted to see you go to Kura sushi! We’ve got one of those here in Northern California! They’ve been opening a lot of restaurants around the US. Prob not as good as actually being in Japan, but it’s still pretty tasty! 😊
Now that was a lot of fun 🏌️
Wonderful and very helpful video. Subscribed and thanks for posting.
It's interesting seeing Kura Sushi in Japan. We have them in the US as well, but they are much more expensive at 3.10 USD (451 JPY) per plate. Green tea is also not complementary and costs the same as ordering any drink. It's a bit disappointing since green tea is usually complimentary at many restaurants in Japan. I'm glad that Japan has reopened and I'm planning a trip this November. Your other videos have convinced me to try taking a ferry somewhere and I'm looking forward to it. Thank you for sharing your videos.
OMG thank you for mentioning we have Kura in the US - there's one in DC I could go to! I had no idea!
I went to the one in Las Vegas and loved it, but yes - at least twice as expensive as in Japan!
The train part was extremely useful - good to know some of the nitty-gritty of what the transfers look like, how the maps are laid out, etc.
Oh! Asakusa! I want to go there to visit Mokuhankan where Japanese woodblock prints are made! Amazing!
Great video …. The city is interesting and the tower is tall! Have blessed travels 😊
👍🏼 STJ-san knows how to travel and eat well on a budget! 😎✌🏼
I respect anyone who learns japanese and gets on a plane to get there.
Thanks for taking us all long. Be safe and God Bless.
Hope you'll create more Japan videos like this. I appreciate POV videos more than ones with narration ❤️
I will come back to Tokyo again next year. I plan to stay near Shimbashi station. 😉
Please write a travel guide. It would be so handy . I'm hoping to visit Japan next year with my friend. Her husband studied for a year in Japan and then went to teach for 4 years in Korea. He's trying to teach me some basic Japanese script ! My friend , she speaks fluent Japanese, but I so want to learn even the basics. Thankyou for showing that there are ways to save on travel . I can plan our trip using your vodka. Thankyou for doing this for us.
Going up into Tokyo Tower is a bargain compared to Skytree. I did the tower once in 2019, was worth it. One of the coolest city views has to be the Asahi Beer Hall where you can relax in the bar at the top of the building and drink beer while the city slowly slips into night mode just before dinner.
I'm going to Tokyo on 12-22Nov. Will stay near Tokyo Tower. How difficult to go to Shibuya?
@@bekind3050 just hit a subway and you'll get there. Google maps worked great for me.
Holy moly, 16 plates?! And a slice of cake on top? That's quite the sushi night you got there. All that for so cheap too!
But yeah, looking at the colour of the salmon belly, I can sort of tell it's a cheaper sushi, but hey, it's fresh and cheap, so no problems there
If you’re coming from overseas with large luggage, and can afford the ticket, the Keisei Skyliner or Narita Express (N’EX) are usually more friendly to traveling with luggage.
N’EX has in the past had ticket bundles with preloaded Suica cards (similar to PASMO), but that may have been discontinued.
That ding always makes me happy
I love this channel ❤❤❤❤ thank U so much
Thanks for the video. I am flying into Haneda in April visiting Japan for the first time. I am nervous because I do not know any Japanese but very excited to visit.
Fantastic and informative video! I strongly encourage you to make similar videos for some of the other cities you frequent.
As for me, I'm getting ready for my fourth assignment in Japan, this time back to Sasebo in Nagasaki prefecture. I couldn't be more excited! Your videos have always made me miss Japan, and now I'm hoping to use them as inspiration for my own adventures.
good video learned alot thank you
Going to Japan for the first time this October, 22 days. I really appreciate this kind of videos since i worry a lot about not being able to understand how to move around there or how to eat on restaurants. You make it look trivial.
