    This month’s bujo theme is all about my newest hobby - knitting! I’ve been loving relearning how to knit over the past month or so, and I hope you enjoy this soft, whimsical bullet journal theme. I’d love to know what hobbies you used to do as a child that you’ve picked up again as an adult (or would like to!) Because it’s never to late to rediscover our love for a hobby and work to reawaken our dormant skills 😊

      That’s an interesting point, they definitely weren’t as intrigued by the circular needles! I hadn’t put it together but the ends moving is probably a huge factor. I guess it’s good I’m learning how to use circular needles 😂

      @@PlantBasedBride, fun fact: you can knit flat panels as well as tubes with circular needles. (It's a total myth that circular needles are only for tubes... like socks.) 💖🌞😷🌵

      I have my sock yarn scraps in two glass vases. We had to put them on a shelf with command strip stickers because one of my cats would tip the vase over and make off with a bunch of them all the time
      💀 I especially enjoy when they unravel them all around the legs of our dining room table and chairs. 😭

    Yay, I love that you're diving back into knitting! I'm an avid knitter, so I always include knitting pages in my monthly bujo setups, to track current projects and commissions, things I want to cast on, and a knitwear tracker (to see which hand-made sweaters/tops/socks are most worn each month).
    My best tip for knitting with cats is having a distraction (a toy, a treat, etc); my cat loves a certain blanket, and as long as she can sleep on my lap with the blanket, she usually leaves the yarn alone.

    I learned to knit probably when I was around 8-9, but I didn’t really enjoy it because it was too easy to mess up lol. But last year I learned how to crochet, which I find much easier than knitting! So far I’ve made a few stuffed animals and some purses, but right now I’m working on a cardigan 😊

    Antique baskets can be beautiful, but some times the inside isn't the best. Once you get it home you can use mild dish soap, cool water and a soft brush to get some surface grime off. Choose a sunny day for it's bath, because sitting it in the sun to dry insures it will dry well and the sun's UV will sanitize.
    Fixing a hole is easy if you can find similar reeds.
    But if after a good scrub, the inside is still not perfect or there maybe bits of reed ends poking out... when you go to purchase fabric for the lid, get a little extra to line the basket.
    It will be soooo pretty opening the basket to see the matching lining. And the lining will prevent those pokey ends from snagging your yarn balls as they spin around inside your basket. And the lining will cover any unsightly stains. 💖🌞🌵😷

  • @suzisaintjames
    @suzisaintjames 2 місяці тому +2

    I made a lid for my basket out of some pretty fabric, wadding or batting for padding, some ribbon for ties, and a piece of cardboard for a solid bottom. I used a hot glue gun to make it a no sew project. I used an elastic hair tie and a button for a closure... surprisingly, it turned out very professional. If you have a nice basket, just make a lid for it! 💖🌞😷🌵

    I like you did a bit of knitting as a child but I’m allergic to lanolin but didn’t realize till many years later so when I tryed to upgrade my materials to really get in to it my hand would burn so I never really got anywhere then school ramped up. I have however started crocheting recently and honestly i prefer it cos there only 1 ‘working’ loop so it much easier not to worry about it unraveling if you put it down

    Cute theme as usual. Watching the video felt very familiar 😂 like you I learned to knit as a child, then let it go and picked it up again when my friends starting having babies a couple years ago. And like you, I called my mom way too many times. No idea how to help with the cats but I would advise to have a couple projects on the go, with one being easy, especially if you are attempting something big like a sweater. I found that it can get very frustrating when projects take a long time so having something else finished in the mean time helps. Good luck with the knitting!

      Aw I’m glad we’re both finding our way back to our childhood hobbies ❤️ the yarn I’m using for the sweater in this video is a recycled acrylic from Loops & Threads! They’re carried at my local Michael’s and very affordable. I’ve done a bit of research, since I also don’t buy/use wool and other animal products, and most common seems to be cotton, acrylic, and more niche natural fibres like bamboo (which is pricier). My mom recommended acrylic because it’s easier to care for in a finished garment than some natural fibres that can be more finicky in the wash, so finding recycled acrylic yarn was awesome!

I have never used markers to color in my drawings and as hard as I try not to I keep going out of the lines and its so hard to keep the pressure even so then there are a lot of streaks. Just what I wanted-streaks and going out of the lines. I feel like I am in Kindergarten again. Did you or has anyone reading this have this problem? Its making me feel kind of bad.
