@10akee Peggy knows he has to get Cam to break down his comments. Cam, like most professionals, speaks in professional terminology. He is a professor. Peggy turns him into a textbook
Yeah, this is awesome because the NFL QB is reading everything from the secondary to the LBs to the DEs to the DL& blocking assignments on OL. You got to figure this out before you snap the ball. So you got roughly 10 seconds to check all this adjustments. A QB needs the off season and training camp to learn a brand new offense, if you got a good play caller of a coach
Love when yall/ u break it down like that. Some times ppl forget it’s a job to yall but to us it’s entertainment. More content like this cam. KEEP POUNDING
I freaking love this channel - never played football except in my Aunt's backyard 10 zillion years ago. Our play calling - "Mike, run towards the tree; Carol Go out to your right".... That's as complicated as we could make it. 😂😂🤣🤣
Love how you explaned the adjusments at the snap of ball when play is live! Literally at qb you have your pre read snaps at 3 levels,(oline/dline,linebacker,secondary). Then at snap because defenses now show 1 and go another at snap, ALL 3 LEVELS, or at least 2 change! So now both the wr and the qb both have to have made the same change mentally live and make a play with a defense thats changed! A coachs job now in my eyes is to get all 11 guys thinking on one accord pre snap and live at the same speed!! 😮
Everything Cam explained is why those that think Brock Purdy is a "game manager" in a negative sense have to give him credit. It's not about physical talent ... you have to know what you're doing. If it was about physical talent then Jamarcus Russell would be the greatest football player ever to play the game.
I'm listening to this and thinking of Caleb Williams. People hate on him but have no idea what he's going through. Still broke the Bears passing record.
This seems to really highlight the importance of training camps not just being there for conditioning and getting in shape... this. gives some insight on what it really means to "get on the same page", and what communication really means and how long this takes. Just knowing principles isn't enough but this helps understand why guys really talk about getting in the reps even if they have been doing it for awhile. I hope there is more of this coming from Cam.
More of this, please! Cam needs a session like this on ESPN. No shade to Dan Orlowski, but he ain't Cam Newton. I want to hear and see Cam talking quarterback play.
@@analyticalinsight I think I’ll roll with Cam on this one. I’m not saying you're wrong because I don’t know. Maybe there's some nuance because he’s talking about the NFL. I don't know-but, I’m going to take the opinion of the MVP NFL quarterback every time. Now if you balled out in the NFL, I’m all ears. Otherwise, I’m out on any opinions that aren't coming from someone who matches that man's resume.
@tramayneyoung297 I've called in high school, semi pro and coached and tutored...Hooks and Curls work from the slot very well against Cover....Right in between the 2 linebackers down the middle.....WR has to see the sight adjustment like the QB.....crossing routes don't work, 9 routes work and corner routes can work but the wr has to take more of the 45°.....
@tramayneyoung297 Not sure if Cam was the greatest at reading coverages from the pocket....great runner, scrambler throws on broken down plays, and was good at certain concepts but not that nuanced....When his athletic ability fell off, he fell off a lot
8:20 I remember when my coach said that if the defense had an extra guy on the line, the O-line would call it out by saying "Texas" so that we can pick it up and not screw the play up. Some coaches urge you to call out the alignment of the opposite side in order to change the play or adjust.
Years ago, I clicked on a video called "LSU Zone Clinic" & it scratched my itch for wanting to how coaches handle "adjustments" & assignments for each player...football is a beautiful game, truly.
Cam, This podcast is the very top of the Line!! ESPN needs to give u more days per week & an upgraded Contract & pay u more for more Days! I am so glad u finally got a tv Contract, even if it’s only 1 day. I can’t wait for your shows! 🙏💕❤️💕👍🔥
To add to Cam's great insight, the player the offense designates as the Mike on that play is the reference point so the linemen know who they should block. This is esp important in half slide protections where part of the OL blocks in one direction and the other part in the opposite direction. Typically the strong side blocks man while weak side blocks by zone rules
I hated how Cam got the raw deal in NE. Him not knowing the playbook was so logical, being that he had just got there. Wish he would've had more time to watch him succeed.
Everything you saying was explained to me in highschool. The QB and the receiver has to be on the same page. If talked about it in practice if you see a certain defensive you know to go to a certain route
The middle linebacker is designated "Mike" (or "Mac") and two outside linebackers are designated "Sam" and "Will" according to how they line up against the offensive formation. If there is a strong call, the linebacker on the strongside is called "Sam", while the linebacker on the weakside is called "Will"
Cam and Peggy can ya'll please get this message out to the world that Jason Whitlock owes coach prime and the buffs a visit to the Alamo bowl because he promised that if the buffaloes made to a bowl game he would be there with his family in full colorado buffaloes gear!!!!!!!!!!
Speaking truth Cam, just ask Geno Smith, is DK Metcalf running the routes he is supposed to run. Sometimes not. Interception makes Geno look like a fool when it is really DK not having route discipline.
A few years ago a person on social media made a comment about a NFL football player that the player was stupid and needed to go flip hamburgers because that's about all the player could do other than play football. I called the person a racist because she obviously did not know about all of the learning that is required to play college and NFL games. Cam's explanations just describe SOME of the stuff that players have to know to compete successfully in the games.
A certain person on ESPN said Cam is crazy and doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Sounds like bro knows his stuff to me. Gotta know your stuff to win MVP. 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
In the play, the shell was a cover two with two high but they rolled into a cover 3 with one high. A corner doesn’t bail if he has safety help over the top.
Cam should get credit for his football IQ, not that he doesn't but it seems like not enough because the more I watch him talk about reading defenses, it's obviously he studied and prepared, on top of being great as an athlete and teammate anyways.
Much love here, and not sure if youve covered this before. There were several reports from around the patriots that Mac Jones was picking up the offense in greater depth in the short time he was there vs you after playing the prior season. Reports he was out playing you in practice and had a better understanding of the offense. I hear you needed more time, but do you feel that there was a simplicity at Carolina because of Auburn lack of preparation that relied on you just being a bit of a freak athlete.
Peggy be a asking the right question tho Cam get's annoyed like we supposed to know this..😆😆 thanks for the knowledge Killa Cam"
The curse of knowledge is real
I think it’s just his passion… when I speak of something I love and did at a high level I get the same way,
REAL TALK SHAWTY
@@UriyahMcCrayyou ain’t done nothing at all high level 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Peggy asks great follow-up questions. He and Cam are an incredible duo.
I was thinking the same. Peggy asks the questions that the normal fan wants to know answers to.
@10akee Peggy knows he has to get Cam to break down his comments. Cam, like most professionals, speaks in professional terminology. He is a professor. Peggy turns him into a textbook
Whats his name? Lol
Need MORE content like this, Cam! These breakdowns for us mortals are excellent

I don't even watch football and I'm fascinated by the way Cam explains things
Listening to Cam breakdown ball is like poetry. We miss you big dawg
No cap, Cam be helping me murk dudes in Madden. I used to be so trash, but now even if I’m down I know what look for.

More of this. Football 101 could be its own podcast.

Lmao
What? Lmao
well in SF they don’t let the qb do everything for example they don’t let them change pass protections
Horrible 😂anyone but Bust Russ😢
This was a horrible comment …I hate the internet 🤦🏽♂️
I’ve grown to really like this show. Cam and Peggy are a great duo. I also love how Cam talks about / teaches the game of football to the viewers.
I'm listening to this and thinking of Caleb Williams. People hate on him but have no idea what he's going through. Still broke the Bears passing record.
And that’s why QB is the hardest position
Excellent break down on football 101. Too many knowledge from one the best QB this game. Thank you guys
yes, the NFL is really that fast.
i love these breakdowns; they let us fans see the game from the perspective of a QB. it's really interesting

Cam, thanks for the inside info from your experience. Very cool.
This is the cam we didn't get in the media. Much respect is gained.
This was so good to watch especially when you breaking down the plays and identifying the mic.
I love the way Cam broke everything down and I love the questions Peggy asked
Sundays is just the end result of lots of practice and reps through the week.
9:27 I love the shot out to Coach JB! 😂😂😂
Love the honesty cam, ppl need to hear that perspective
💯 QBs and WRs need to know all of this. That’s all the difference between career/season ending injuries or successful plays.
Years ago, I clicked on a video called "LSU Zone Clinic" & it scratched my itch for wanting to how coaches handle "adjustments" & assignments for each player...football is a beautiful game, truly.
Damn! The game of football ain’t as easy as I thought it was. Thanks for the knowledge Cam
QB is the coach's mindset on the field. This is why you can never argue with their pay, good stuff Cam.

8:06 aye this so tough to watch as a college athlete what cam is calling the mike we say that’s the point man
Btw I’m not a qb I’m a receiver but I take pride in knowing that
This is the breakdown most fans need to see in my opinion.
6:34 😂😂😂 I felt that

I want to see More of Cam newton in Carolina
7:05 mark I just think about the movie BlankMan😂
Do they have a award for co host of the year !?! Peggy got it! 💯🚨🕶️🏆
In the play, the shell was a cover two with two high but they rolled into a cover 3 with one high. A corner doesn’t bail if he has safety help over the top.
Cam newton next job will be a head coach. He knows the game!

How do you know who the “Mike” is?
Too bad he couldn’t do this when he was playing
