      @Michael Quaid If you're talking about the 'balls out in the spa' thing, that was proven false. The lady did not record any trans folk nor did she show anyone in the spa and was just yelling and the store owner confirms that the usual trans clients weren't even there that day. There was an entire article written on this.

    That teacher period POV made me SO UNCOMFORTABLE. I had an amazing history teacher who was like, in his 70s, and he was very good at handling these situations and would always be strict with the boys about not degrading or disrespecting the girls. I remember I needed a pad (I bled through my pants) on my FIRST DAY IN HIS CLASS, and when everyone went to lunch, he called me to his desk, and he looked up from his stack of papers to say "hey, you've got a red stain on your pants, it's not really noticable but would you like a sweatshirt?" And I nodded my head. He pulled one out of a drawer filled with other spare clothes, and then also pulled out a plastic bag with all different types/sizes of pads & tampons. He offered me some, and I thanked him. He said "It's okay, I have 9 daughters. I've been doing this for awhile" and he smiled before returning to his papers. As I opened his door to leave, he said "and drink some water & eat something!" I felt so safe and respected, it was really nice and to this day he's still my favorite teacher I ever had.
    Edit: yes, 9 daughters. They were all grown at the time of this story. He had an introduction powerpoint during the first week of school where he showed us his daughters and his grandkids, and his wife, and his dogs! It was really cute! This teacher was a old fashioned family man. I always liked him because even though he was traditional, he was always very open-minded and accepting of the changing times :) I wish more older people like him existed!

It goes against so many rules, the student could have a reaction, it could interact with other meds the student is on and just it’s such a big no-no that I’m surprised a teacher would ever give a student meds, ESPECIALLY female students, the school board would go ape shit

    One time I got my period in Elementary school. Bell ringed and everyone was going to recess, but I stayed because everything was coated in blood. Teacher came over and told me to go with the other kids outside. I stood up, she saw the blood. She asked me if I wanted to go home for the day, I nodded. She called the office who called my parents. My teacher grabbed my winter coat and handed it to me. I tied it around my waist and left as soon as my parent showed up. She then had the janitor come in and clean up the blood on my chair.
    My teacher didn’t make a big deal about it, she understood I was embarrassed, so didn’t talk about it. She helped me out the best she could, and apparently covered for me when my friend asked where I was by saying that I had a dentist appointment, so had to leave. That’s how you help people on their period.
    Also, you can’t bring medication of any kind to school (at least mine) without permission. You also can’t just give people you hardly know medicine, because you don’t know if they could have an adverse reaction to it. That’s just irresponsible.

      @@McJusti it is highly debatable to the point of being untrue that parents can prevent their child from becoming a sexual predator.
      Yes, there are many predators that have a history that seems to provide an explanation for how they came to be so vile. But there are many other people who are predators who do not have the backstory to explain it.
      Likewise, there are many people who’ve been raised by very sadistic parents and yet they have not become predators. So while there is a correlation of sorts, it does not amount to causation.

I kind of agree with the sentiment, I worry for my own daughter, just hate the idea of someone hurting her in anyway. Not to say I don’t fear the same for my son but it’s different for a girl.

They know all about the terrible things they do to them, how little respect they have for them and what they think about and how they act with them. Also, I'd be 100% concerned if my teacher gave me chocolate when I'm on my period. Like why were you carrying that around and why are you so willing to give it away. Also giving a child medicine is also weird.

    One day my mom told me "If a boy goes out with a girl, 'oh yeah it's okay do whatever, just don't hurt any girls' is the only concern. If a girl is going to hang out with a boy, 'you need to be careful, always watch yourself, it's extremely dangerous, don't do drugs, don't get to close with boys"

    • @lizc6393
      @lizc6393 3 роки тому +10

      Pretty much. With a girl it's like "OMG DON'T LET YOUR GUARD DOWN. DON'T DRINK OR FALL ASLEEP. DON'T GO ANYWHERE ALONE WITH HIM. DON'T WEAR ANYTHING THAT MIGHT GIVE HIM IDEAS. CALL ME ONCE AND HANG UP IF YOU'RE IN TROUBLE I'LL COME WITH THE POLICE DEAR GOD I HOPE WE'RE NOT TOO LATE!!!"
      With a boy "hey try not to rape or murder her or both if you can help it, k? k."

    Literally it’s because of content like this that made me wonder why my dad wasn’t possessive or acted crazy when we I talked about guys or boyfriends. Then I realised he’s what ever girl deserves, a dad that doesn’t have double standards and doesn’t have weird thoughts like these tik tok guys

  • @TeganThrussell
    @TeganThrussell 3 роки тому +946

    So glad my parents never had this double standard. When I brought my first boyfriend home, it was the same "Holy shit, she finally has a partner" moment as they had when my brother and sister brought their respective girlfriends home.
    That being said, while they were thrilled that we had partners, they never pushed up to have relationships. They made sure as kids that we knew we were valuable and worthwhile as individuals. They treated us getting partners as a bonus, rather than an expectation. They have no issue in my brother and I being happy single in our 20s, and are not pushing my sister to get engaged to her girlfriend or anything.
    So this is my reminder to anyone out there who might need to hear it.
    You matter.
    You do not need a person to complete you.
    You are everything you need, and your joy can light up any room.
