Great video. I just got the GLM 20 and was looking for examples of how to use it. Other videos fell far short of what I was looking for. You did a great job of explaining. I just subscribed!
Even as someone that's not really a handyman type, you'd be surprised how many uses a laser measure can handle. My wife and I just moved into a new apartment and they were surprised at the furniture store when I had a little map drawn of the apartment with all the precise measurements, all ready to go. Thanks Bosch! Also this video answered a question that not even Bosch's website answered, this laser pointer measures from the BACK of the device, not the front. Super handy to know. I know there's an icon on the left side of the device but since I'm not a handyman I had no idea what that actually meant.
Thanks for the demo. I’m going to Lowe’s to purchase one, and then go to an open house of a studio apartment today. Gonna measure the space to see how much of my furniture I can put in there. ✌️
If I remember correctly, the tape measure has some play at the hook side, it measures more precisely when it is hooked and pulled versus when it is butting against a wall and being pushed. The later will give slightly lower measurements and it correspond to the laser measurement in this video.
Well if the tape measure is built properly, that play in the tip is so that the tip adjusts for thwn you are pushing and pulling. It should be exactly the same but now I want to run some tests on it!!!
That play is to take into account the thickness of the metal tab. It shifts by exactly that distance so that the measurement is the same whether you are pulling or pushing.
It’s great for getting measurements for struts and threaded rod when hanging duct. Especially when you’re up on a scissor lift. 1/8” difference is negligible in that situation.
does it measure the shortest distance? I mean if you pointed it slightly angled (not 90 deg) lets say from you to the wall but it was pointed downward, what does it measured?
What if you want to measure something thats horizontal from you? Like if i want to measure how long a car is. Or does it only work if im standing in front of a wall
I want to use such a device with a plastic corner-cube reflector plate, which reflects THOUSANDS as much back in the direction of the emitter than a white paper-like surface. (See Lambertian reflector.) I want to measure 500, 1000, 2000 meters, with a resolution of 1 millimeter . Problem is, I don't think the device will 'wait for' such a delayed reflection, even when it arrives late. And, of course, the display doesn't have sufficient digits to display this.
Dude, your short measurement experiments comparing the laser to a tape are flawed. The tape hook moves about 1/16" or 1.6mm so you can measure outside and inside spaces. The scale lengths printed on the top side of a decent tape is usually 1/16" shorter than the bottom scale length. Maybe do the same test using a stainless steel ruler, and for coherence sake, talk in metric instead of the absurd imperial measurements system. Otherwise, I'm interested in one of these little buggers.
I'm not sure what you're talking about with the scale being different on the top and bottom of a tape? As for metric, I never ever use it so I wouldn't even know where to begin with it. 🤔🤷
the hook of your tape measure should move precisely the distance of the thickness of the hook. im confident he had his tape butted up to the fridge gable
As long as you have something for the laser to hit, it is very accurate! I wouldn't use it for precise trim cuts but it's good for getting rough measurements
Would you recommend this laser tape measure to get measurements for measuring inside windows for special ordering of custom blinds where it's critical to get EXACT measurements???
it was pretty accurate but still only within an 1/8" at times so not quite EXACT... Might be worth buying and trying and comparing with a tape measure and seeing if it is close enough. If not you could always return it
Thank you for making this video! Does this work for the outside? I have to measure gas station canopies( length and width). I hate dealing with the ladder all the time, do you think this device could work? Thank you!!
See, your video covers exactly the reason why these are not going to replace good old-fashioned tape measures for the foreseeable future. You need to have a back stop. So it's not like I'm hanging a picture and I know that my anchors need to be 25 1/4 inches apart, it will be awkward to measure this using this device. Until they get the technology to allow for that easily, I won't be a buyer. I'm not out there doing land surveys.

Thank you for mentioning that it measures from the back of the device!
literally what i came here for lol
Same!
This helped me with how to change units- thank you!!

That's awesome! Thanks for letting me know and glad you're enjoying your laser!
I use it for trim and it works brilliantly. My trim cuts are perfect every time
that's awesome to hear!
They have em on sale at Home Depot right now for 30. They’re trying to move the old to bring in the new

awesome! It's super easy to use! enjoy!
This was exactly what I needed. I Bought the Bosch laser measure tape some time ago and needed the 411 on it’s use. Great job!
right on!
It's amazing that just one year late and the new models are so much better
oh yeah?!
@@BorsellinoHomeServices I'm just saying it wild how fast technology progresses
I used to have one of the ones that used bat echolocation clicks. 😂
Those were still great for estimating but this bosch unit is awesome.

@@BorsellinoHomeServices yes, that'll be great and let the viewer know the results!

yes it is! thank you fr this short and sweet info!
Finally! Accurate measurements for my Tinder profile.
😂😆
Thank you for this! Great and well laid out info. Saved me from buying another one!
I just got one of these and I can't wait to use it. Thanks for the video.
oh it is great you're gonna love it! I use it every chance I get and it is such a time saver and way easier to use on long measurements
Thanks! Very good explanation
Great video, nice recap, just bought one!
I just used mine the other day it's awesome!
I love mine and now I know how to use it ! lol

great idea!
this tools going to save me so much time and stuggle from crawling around and measuring baseboard.
It's super handy! And accurate!
does it measure the shortest distance? I mean if you pointed it slightly angled (not 90 deg)
lets say from you to the wall but it was pointed downward, what does it measured?
I got the Hyper Tough version from Walmart for half the price of this and have way more features.
Great review thanks, I ordered mine already and can’t wait to use it
It's pretty sweet!!!
Looking for a video of use cases and this was perfect. Nice work!
Awesome! Thanks for letting me know you liked it!!!
Man!!! That video help me lot… thanks 🙏
You're Welcome! I love that little laser measurer!
What if you want to measure something thats horizontal from you? Like if i want to measure how long a car is. Or does it only work if im standing in front of a wall
you'd basically need someone to hold a piece of paper or something to bounce the laser off of even with the front of the car
I want one that does mm
Thanks for the info I’ll order one of them
it's awesome i love it!
Will it multiply two measurements to get square footage
nope this one is basic. The next level up I believe does math for you

It’s my “go to” . Great tool. Did my attic flooring measurements with this and no issues 👍
awesome!
How do you put hand strap on it?
stick the small rope part through the hole and then pull the handstrap through the opening in the small loop
Great video and review!!!
Thank you!!!
Great video bud!
Hey thanks!!!

you're welcome!
Whats the smallest measurement this can take?
1mm
I'm not sure! I'm guessing the length of the tool itself. I'll have to try it sometime
Painter square footage ?
replied to your other comment
Wel mine I can't go past 50 ft or I get error all the time
That's super lame!!!
Thanks G
Yo no problemo
How does this work for measuring windows inside or out?

@@BorsellinoHomeServices Thank you!
Intended for interior use only, but if you can make it work outdoors; even better.
A quick review?
Don't think we didn't notice that 69" measurement.
LOL! Didn't plan that!
can you calibrate it?
not that i am aware of
