People hate on opie a lot, and he deserves it because he's such a buzzkill asshole, but he led the show from bit to bit , to commercial break, etc. Nowadays Ant and Jim will be on a show together on compound media and even though theyre both the best radio hosts ever, it just doesnt feel the same. Opie had to be there to be the one with the reigns.
although Sams job isnt physically demanding in any way, like most of ours are, I still feel kind of bad for him. He, like many others there, enjoy radio and the creative things they can do with it, so the company just shits on all of them and knows they probably wont quit. That corporate mentality really sucks when youre on the losing end.
And in the end. The hard work did pay off for Sam when they fired Opie. Opie is doing this just to start trouble. He’s not funny. He was always a bitter angry man
The saddest part is that Sam brings way more to show than Opie. Pulls more weight behind the scenes and is way funnier. Despite this, Opie is the costar making 100 times more money. Ant, Jimmy, and Sam would make for a way better show. Shit, a mannequin would do a better job than Opie since at least it wouldn't interrupt to drag the show down and take dumbass callers.
If my maths is right (which it almost certainly isn't) then based on OnA apparently having a 3 year contract worth $3.5m I think that would work out they made roughly 700-800 per show each which is about $170-190 per hour. Apparently Opie paid Sherrod Small, Vic Henley and Carl the chef about 700$ per show which would rough match how much one of OnA would make a show so presumably Opie paid then what Anthony would have made (if that was accurate)
I like the way they break down what Howard gets paid per hour but don't break down what Opie and Anthony make. They are all way over paid for what little they do, especially Opie...
Sam's a grinder. So many people look at guys like him and say, "how in the hell did they get this position or how do they make this money?" whenever they finally do make it, but even as the guys are putting him down they acknowledge how ridiculously hard he works and is constantly trying to make it and help out. Even in a company as crazy as this one, Sam's perseverance did indeed finally pay off. I guess Jess knew what she was doing after all.
sam is so annoying man . He works hard and does everything right for his career but man his nasally voice and "nyahaah" laugh he does , followed by the corny childish pointless instigations between staff members that were boring as fuck, being a "yes man" for opie and anthony. Dude seems nice but ive never enjoyed him on the show
He looks like a white version of that black guy that wants to run for president with the white afro...I knew his name as I was typing this and forgot it Never mind.
This has always been my favorite OA graphic even though it totally misrepresents their personalities. Anthony looks like the every man and opie looks like he rides a Harley into work every morning
Jess sounds like a younger version of Sam’s mom. Seriously, go listen to his mom on the show and tell me she doesn’t! I’m not surprised in the slightest!
Say what you will about young Sam, but he's a workhorse. What he lacks in talent and charisma, he more than makes up for with bullheaded persistence and sheer volume of output.
Shows there is a God and he is cruel and funny for giving someone the ambition willingness to work incredibly hard but gave him an awfully annoying voice, a total lack of charisma and no interests in anything beyond wrestling. It goes to show that being a diligent, hard-working brown noser is no substitute for being genuinely funny, interesting or entertaining. Based on Jim saying Sam made $15 dollars an hour after Sam said he works a 60 hour work week (if those numbers are accurate) I think that roughly worked out to be around $40-50k a year so the company was even telling him they recognized how little he was worth to try to force his hand to not continue. They probably now only use him as an example of someone who started at the bottom as an intern to have their own morning show so maybe he has value in terms of being able to attract talented interns in the future but if there were any talented people today they'd probably already have their own podcast and make money from that so he probably isn't even especially useful as a "success" story. Maybe he's a great person off-air but, personally, on-air I found him to be an annoying, brown-nosing creep with a nasally voice who had nothing funny or insightful to say
lol @ Sam pretending like he was happy that the staff was wrong and he had no black in him. Total bullshit. He wants it bad. That's why he keeps the horrible afro, which is the ONLY thing that makes anyone thing he could possibly be even the smallest part black.
So Anthony whined about his girl getting hit on by Gene Simmons, but he does the same to Sam's girl, and he's in a higher position so Sam really can't complain... what a douche.
Well, the reason Sam makes so much less than Howard Stern is obviously that he sucks at math. He forgot to move the decimal point over in his mind when he concluded that Stern makes about 100,000 times more than he does.
God opie at around 10 minutes is so god awful. He just barrels over Jim, completely missing the point. Hes so self absorbed and me me me its ridiculous
