Once supposed to be the greatest hip-hop artist in SA was Reason. I've had all 5 albums by Reason. Audio 3D, Audio HD, Audio ReDefinition, Love Girls and Azania. Still have some of the physical CDs today. The reason he didn't live up to his own expectations is that (I think) he is from Joburg. Most musicians from Joburg struggle to blow beyond Joburg. Their mentality is different to Cassper (NW), Nasty C (KZN), AKA (WC), Blxckie (KZN), etc. BUT Reason earned his "right" to experiment with different genres.
Could it maybe be that he's boring? Very skilled but just has never been 'that guy', doesnt have 'that thing'. I dunno what it is about him but even this interview, he's doing nothing wrong but Im already sleepy. He's like Proverb, amazing MC but no personality or rather the personality is just not the one to be in front of the camera.
Lol DJ SBU must say click once…if you click! click! You subscribe and unsubscribe 😂😂 shout out to @SBU and @Penuel. You guys are awesome. Mkhukhu nation for ever we building one zenke at a time 🫡
Every place has a story and like Reason said artists from Katlehong seem to be in tune with telling stories indigenous to them and their Kasi. Every place in South Africa is special and rich in culture - its just that people have been so violated and subdued they lack resources to even realize what they are capable of. You too also are capable no matter where you are, your story deserves to be told no matter which corner of South Africa you occupy! you too are special.
Arguable the best interview on Virtual Mkhukhu. Something different from the ussuals, not even one word about Government 😂Credits to all 3 of y'all, but mainly the guest, he was amazing 🙏
Hala to all visualMkhuchillers, Sbu is here, Panuel is here everybody is here✌S/O to Reason ❗ Wow Happy birthday to u TaSbuda i didn't know u share a birthday with my sister🍾have a great one in advance.
what i like about Sbuda, he always keeps his promise. He promised to deliver and hey he's doing exactly that. and he's not just dropping episodes but hes bringing exactly what we want and subscribed to
ANOTHER BANGER!!!! Pls come back Reason! A milestone was reached today! As hustlers we will hold all 3 of you hustlers to that Masterclass/ Crash Course for musicians. It' s important! That's the takeaway from this show! Thank you guys!
As much as this was a music masterclass, a lot of what was discussed can be applied in real life situations. BE REALIBLE being one of them, people love dealing with someone who is reliable and SHOWS UP! That's one of the factors that get you promoted or get more sales in your business - be reliable.
Interesting youvshouls call it a masterclass thats what they do in Harward, they call industry experts to lecture their Mba Students. Much of that lecture would be based on experience as qualification.
Yhoo Sbu🤝🔥🔥🔥U summarized it beautifully... SYSTEMS, PROCESSES AND COLLABORATION. Most us really fumble a lot when it comes to these things... Yes u can have a great idea, but can u build sustainable systems that can make the idea come alive? My love for engineering lies here, it's always about systems and applications.
Great episode. Refreshing to hear Sizwe’s story. Been following him since 2005, when he was doing rap battles on YFM with AK and Lee on The Joint Remix. Good to see the growth. Sbudda and Pen when are we getting Sizwe Dlomo, Vusi Thembekwayo and Cassper?
I'd love to see Cassper agreeing. And his story is inspiring. These guys must stop hating interviews because these interviews have even us the 80's class learning some pros and cons.
Man when Sbu said the first thing you do as an artist is open your own publishing company I got goosebumps. That is where the money is folk, don't play yourself
Thanks for promoting non alcoholic drink, in a nation challenged by Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, SA is a No 1 country of children born with this syndrome, i.e with alcohol in their blood. We will not conquer with the same patterns, we need to break the cycle.
Super Dope episode, really educational and Informative, shout out you Grootmans. And “The I Industry crash course “ is a brilliant idea, we definitely want to contribute to it. Using Colleges and the infrastructure available to make it happen. All best 📚🎥👌🏾
Will never understand why would you starve yourself for just a genre...while being versatile will possibly bring you bands...Piano is like an evolved Rap-Deep house musiq...Go all in guys😎😎😎
I was so happy to come across MOFAYA here in Lesotho and even took a selfie with a can of Mofaya, am one of citizens of the universe fŕom who follow this Platform...Good work DJ Sbu
This interview was sad Sizwe was not engaged properly in the conversation. It ended being a conversation between Sbu and Penuel. He consistently had to tap into they discussion. This niggah has been through alot treat him like a guest bafwetu.

And actually he was one of the few to show us that hip hop SELLS!
Reason also had the craziest production! just innovation that South Africa was not ready to hear.

This Episode deserves more than flowers. This deserve Stars🌠🌠🌠 The education here! Top tier
A hate it when other people criticise reason for switching to amapiano but a rapper like Drake can make house music songs but they do not say.
It was conversation that has nothing to do with reason but education.
Man when Sbu said the first thing you do as an artist is open your own publishing company I got goosebumps. That is where the money is folk, don't play yourself
Dj Sbu you are putting the work

21:50 In his defence, I would argue that 4:44 is more "educational" than the majority of his prior works.
