In California our two cats would speed through the house knocking over lamps...trash cans..and climbing up the curtains three days before an earthquake. Somehow they sensed an earthquake coming and so we learned to take down pictures from the walls and also made sure we had bottled wayer and ready to eat food stuff. We also slept in our clothes at night. We were always ready for the earthquake. Thanks to our cats.

I used to live in Santa Rosa ( about 50 miles north of San Francisco )....and I remember a guy who was frequently a guest on KGO radio in the 1980s.....who noticed that the number of 'missing pets' ads in the local papers, would rise dramatically in the days before a quake.

No ladraba ningún perro, no había viento.

Thank you for the captions so we'd know when and where it was! Dogs and cats have a far more sensitive sense of hearing and smell than humans, they can often hear the rumbling below the earth before it reaches the surface. They can also smell the change in the air, ions and they can sense the electromagnetic force before we can.

We had a 5.3 at 2am. I was up, sitting downstairs. My dog was between me and the kitchen. I heard a loud BOOM which seemed to come from the kitchen floor, it sounded like our wooden floor broke. I got up and saw nothing, went back to where I was sitting, and my dog came running in with her tail between her legs, and hackles up, ears back to wards me, as soon as she reached me the quake started. I had to hang onto the lamp and hold her as we rocked and rolled. Then my husband yelled out from upstairs in bed “ EARTHQUAKE” The epicenter was less than a mile from us.
It amazed me that my dog felt it way before I did, and I know how the earthquake waves work. She felt the primary wave, which I didn’t feel at all.
