i'm not a native english speaker, and so far, listening to Ezra's lyrics, i came across terms/words like oxford comma, balaclava (originally i thought it was baklava, the turkish sweet pastry misspelled. Silly me), and cape cod (apparently it's not that famous cape in Africa, ha!). I don't think theres anything pretentious about their lyrics. Sometimes i'm not able to grasp the meaning of their songs though and need to google some proffesional interpretation published on websites like the rolling stones or pitchfork. There are so much cultural references that a non american millennial like me aren't able to understand :'( But hey, isn't this exactly what globalisation is all about, creating more understanding among all nations and bridge the cultural gap through soft power diplomacy that is the American (indie rock/pop) music.
Always took VW as abit of a fad band. But after watching some of their interviews absolutely blown away, every step intentional and greatly executed, a true artist expect more great things!
To further expand on the advertising thing Ezra was talking about, i honestly can’t believe I’m saying this but if it wasn’t for corporations I wouldn’t have ever heard of vampire weekend at such a young age. I grew up playing lego rock band and at the age of like 6-7 I heard a punk for the first time in the game and ever since then I’ve been a fan lol.
Ezra has GOT to be tired of answered stupid ass questions regarding their intentions behind making their fusion of different kinds of world music. Is this still fucking 2008?
The only thing pretentious about Ezra I can gather from this interview is the way he pronounces an "a" sound. What's up with that? And just the general lit-class manner of speaking. I think he knows this; ergo the very intentional counteraction of this with a well-placed smattering of curse words.
is it bad that I watch an ezra interview every day
an ezra a day keeps the doctor away
Pit is said that looking at Ezra's hair saves lives
it's a ritual my friend we all need it to cope with this modern life
I feel really stupid when I watch one of these interviews. He's smart as heck.
well, u gotta be pretty damn smart to get into Columbia
I like to think Ezra is the one who disliked this.

He's so damn smart and pure and genuine and sexy and talented and original. You could ask him anything and he would answer intelligently

I like how I do not know the question but I figure it out from the answer
When he says ''In the 50's and 60's'', I can imagine him giving a history class, JFC.
this is my favorite interview ever, i love how open he is in this
I love his hair and eyes so much and he is like so perfect i cant even
Fascinating point about the relative purity of being approached by an individual adversizer vs more complex corporate relationships.
God made the perfect man, and is call Ezra Koenig.
Have you guys notice that Ezra loves that blue jacket. I guess it's his favorite because he always has it on.
that piece of hair is driving me crazy i want to fix it

Such a vast vocabulary, yet still casually cusses. So real and unpretentious as can be. Idk why but I respect that.
Lol, one of my new favorite interviews
Lol "it'd need to be like gucci or something" bahahahaha
So intellectual
I love this guy on so many levels. : )

Definition: The most perfect life form in the history of the universe.
I love Ezraaaaa!!!
Lol I actually did know what an Oxford comma was but I always thought it was called a Harvard comma.

I agree with his comment on what pretentious means
14:42 lol the shaky
Vast vocabulary and knowledge and still is casual enough to say swear words where they seem appropriate. That makes you pretty UN-pretentious
