This game is absolutely stunning as far as the artwork goes. Im a huge fan of these type of games. I just beat it and had fun but there were sooooo many frustrating parts. From the janky combat at the start to the piano puzzles that are very hard to complete with a controller. I enjoy puzzle games and alot of these were so complicated that i had to revert to guides lol the combat gets better once you upgrade your companion powers, gun and bayonetta. It's more of a puzzle game over anything, the movent gets better as you unlock your companion but it will be very frustrating with the OP enemies you will encounter that can stun lock you and kill you making you lose your ink (this games version of xp). Overral, i think its a fun game if you take your time with it. There will be times when you think your softlocked but just read through your notes and document for clues. If they make a sequel i think the combat is the one thing that i would want them to improve upon.
great review! perfectly captured how the game is. I usually play games on hard but i found the experience to be better when setting it to default due to the frustrating combat but the exploration i recommend setting it to the easiest otherwise you will be backtracking way too often only to get to a dead end again and again.
Other reviewers completely tore the game apart for the combat experience and lack of rewarding mystery solving...? Really have no idea what to make of these results.
I honestly hate the map and lack of direction (I don’t want my hand held like a baby, but at the same time…give me something! My time is limited…) One part early on in the other world, I actually got somewhere in the map where I couldn’t escape no matter how hard I tried, had to close the game, and lost a good chunk of progress. That, with the bad combat and aforementioned lack of direction, immediately turned me off.
the game has some bugs on a couple of places, that I am sure that it can be upgraded on a future patch, the art is amazing, there is a shield ability too that can be upgraded
Did they fix the bugs and stutter issues on PC with a patch? Been really looking forward to this one but the performance issues on PC from what I herd kept me from getting it
En XBOX ONE es una basura, el juego crashea y se alenta en varios momentos de la aventura. Una lastima, porque se ve que bien optimizado es un buen juego.
I dove into this one day one when it dropped for a good 3 hours, but I’d say I had enough after that. This was a big disappointment for me. I hated the controls and just nothing felt good. Even playing it on invincible mode just so I can focus on the puzzles wasn’t even fun. Oh well. This and Redfall, just absolute disappointments for Game Pass. I’m hoping whatever they show me on June 11 is good. But I still got Tears, Star Wars, Street Fighter, Final Fantasy, and Ravenlock I believe it’s called, so I guess I’ll be okay till Star Field.
Do not buy into the stunning artwork, every other aspect of this game outside of it's graphics is garbage. I have played plenty of Metroidvania games and this game does a terrible job at implementing each and every aspect of a metroidvania game. Constant stop and go due to the pause menu being the only map, objectives that are so vague that it will make you hate the game due to the amount of time you feel you are wasting, there is less than no guidance to anything and most of the time you stumble upon something through sheer luck after hours of exploring, the story is flat and don't even get me started on the so called "climax". The combat was janky, the hit boxes are scuffed, and the placement of enemies at times makes it so that you can't even load the area before you hit and get killed. Double jumping, although purposely limited to tie to the companion, is a terrible design choice as it breaks the flow of the game. When you intend on double jumping to ground-smash, an ability you worked to purchase, you can't because you cannot jump high enough, this is worse when an enemy corners you and you cannot jump over them. Literally the only reason I forced myself to 100% this game is out of a habit to beat games I start, and the art style which by the end only served one purpose: to remind me how much of a wasted opportunity this game was. I have never hated a game before, but this game was absolutely terrible. Pretty? Sure, but also very very bad. Go play the Ori games, Guacamelee, Hollow Knight, Legend of Tian Ding, Ghost Song, Eastern Exorcist, any other Metroidvania besides this unless you just want to take pretty screenshots.
Cool art. Terrible combat that feels off. Quite a few random sudden crashes currently that keep you playing over sections. Story line is literally thrown in and not in good way.
Wow! (6:30) The ground pounding ability breaks through weak floor boards! Really? amazing... This game was (in my opinion) a disappointment. Not a huge one. just mid.
It looks good but at points lacks direction. I think if people put this up against other metroidvanias they will come away disappointed. I uninstalled after about 5 hours. Loved the vibe but the gameplay not so much.
6:30… IGN literally said the opposite. Said the jumping, combat and physical mechanics were wonky, sluggish and poor. Weird to hear the distinct differences in reviews
This is the game MS should have been advertising. Stunning artwork
I have to give credit where credit is due. This review was stellar point on and professional. Thank you.

Haha! The indie scene is crushing it with just a few on staff, while AAA studios can't even get their games to work on time..
A 70 MC score and 67 OC score is hardly "crushing it."
I deduce the developers of this game are fans (for lack of a better term) of Benedict Cumberbatch
Yes, very good game 👍

@@dec2567 yeah I'm loving the game right now.
Yea the combat is ass but the art derection is really good
@@RogueMoJo combat in a Metroidvania is kind of necessary…

If the combat really start to annoy you theres an option in the settings that allows you to one shot every enemy...

Is their no volume or is it just my phone

I get it. You expect triple A titles on the gamepass for literally free. Catch a cold and stay in bed.

Big disappointment here. Combat is bad. The introduction is confusing. The art style is fantastic, but not save the overall game.
Yup, I didn't like it either. Thankfully it was on gamepass and was an easy choice to uninstall
