Even though Shaker and Spoon might be my first subscription box I ever get, I was hoping for ridge wallet tie in. "Buy a ridge wallet so you can retire your old wallet to be your decoy collateral for stealing your bike back from thieves or the slightly less sketchy back pocket decoy for over-seas travel."
@@CallanChristensen Haha!
I grew up in NYC. I simply can't believe you left your bike out on a rack. My bike shop told me: "If you want to leave your bike out anywhere, buy one lock for each 5 minutes you intend to be away from it." Super glad you got your bike back, great story!
Haha, that's a great saying!
It was also locked with an (albeit bulky) cable lock, and I have since invested in a chain lock.
Thanks for watching!
I heard a similar saying, buy a lock for every $50 you'd spend replacing the bike.
My guy. You tell stories so well, my heart was racing like it was my bike that had been stolen and I was about to steal back!
That’s awesome to hear! Thanks for watching ❤️
Such a great story! I was at the edge of our seat the whole time. Despite not having filmed it at the time, your storytelling alone made for a great video. Glad you got your bike back!
Thank you so much!
So glad you got it back safely. I also have some bike recovering stories, but mine are all helping to recover other people's bikes. With some extensive digital forensics and Google maps, myself and the bike owner were able to scare the suspect into dumping the bike at a local PD.
That's amazing! Thanks for watching :)
Love it, especially the big bolt cutter on your wall. Statement piece!
Thanks, Jesper!
Great story and so glad you got it back. Every moment is a moment to learn.
Awesome video, Morley! Glad you were able to get your bike back, and even better that you found a way to share the story with all of us. Kudos! 🎉
Thank you so much!
The story makes that old, rusty bike hard to replace, even though it's on its last legs!
Morley easily became one of my top favorite Y-Tubers 🙌🏼
This was cool. I like how you made the video anyway to flip the regret
I had my bicycle stolen while I was a middle school student living with parents in Panama. I got in the bad habit of not locking it up at home and someone stole it from our carport. Six months later my dad and are driving past the police station and my dad sees a bike with blue packing tape wrapped around it in the impound lot. We go in and talk with one of the officers.
Long story short, three thieves had stolen my bike then one of them called the police claiming that one of his buddies stole it from him. The police impounded the bike until someone could bring a receipt for the bike. We went home and dug through boxes of receipts until my mom found it and two days later my dad took the receipt back down to the police station and got my bicycle back.
Thank you for triggering a 50+ year old memory.
BTW, I'm glad you got your bicycle back!
Wow, I can't believe you found the receipt!
Thanks for watching :)
I absolutely love the huge ass boltcutters als background decor. Great story and a great telling!
Thank you so much!
They really tie the room together ;)
Just the fact that you’d attempt to steal your bike back (involving pedalling furiously) in flip flops boggles my mind! Great video man!
Thanks man! They were Chacos, not flip flops ;)
You're such a vibrant and interesting character! Great story!
Omgosh talk about anxiety through watching this video! 🤣🤣 I'm so happy you got your bike back! Great video even without recording it! 😃
Bro the story telling got my heart pumping ngl
I still remember this coming up in CLAMP. Great retelling Morley, and a lesson or two about life construed too ;)
I have done the same journey as you but in reverse. Started as a woodworker, then worked on restaurant and now I'm a swe. Loving the new career so far.
Looks like you got a video out of it after all! I love the story and the storytelling!
Thanks for watching!
I live a rough hour away from Toronto and we assume all the bike thieves come from Toronto to steal our bikes while all our thieves go to Toronto steal your bikes...
Holy crap I was nervous for you listening to your story. Very cool!
That's exactly what I want to hear! Thanks for watching :)
“Wait! This potentially life threatening moment of my life would make an excellent YT video and get millions of views!”
Sign of the times.
To live above a pot shop and directly next to a sushi bar sounds like a literal dream
haha
Amazing story, I’m glad you recovered it.
Really well done video!! Hard to believe it was two years ago. Wow time flies!!
Thanks, Christy! I know, right!
Glad you got your bike back Morley! The only video I would have loved to see is the reaction of the thief when he returned to an empty rack!
2 years later and I'm glad to know you got your bike back!ima need to learn from that now
Great story! Glad you got your bike back! I was really hoping at the end you were gonna show if any text messages after the guy arrived at the meeting spot. Did you tell the guy that it was your bike and that you took it back? Dying to know!!! lol.
great storytelling morley! what a story haha.
Thanks man!
Oh man, one of the things I hate most in my life is unjust and robbery. I am glad you had the guts to get it back and God protects you always from bad people 🙏 🙏🙏
Glad that you got your bike back and are safe!
This was very exciting, I was shaking with anticipation lol 👏🏻👏🏻
Yes!!
Fantastic storytelling! Will definitely have some questions during your next Q&A
Thank you so much! Looking forward to it 😊
I feel your pain. My bike was also stolen in Toronto in 2020. I made a quick stop the Michaels at Richmond and John around 2pm on a Saturday. I come out and I don't see my bike on the bike parking pole thing. But I do see some cops there because some good Samaritan reported the theft to the police. I filed a report but I knew I wasn't going to see that bike again. It didn't turn up on Kijiji or anywhere. I bought a new bike a few weeks later and upgraded to a much better/more expensive lock. I still do get nervous leaving my bike parked somewhere for too long.
Dang! Yeah everyone says the Toronto police are no help re: bike thefts.
I stole my bike back from a thief too! Back in the 90’s, in Oshawa. Idiot lived in the building next door. Oh, AND he was in the same college program as me. LOL, what a tool. Glad you got your wheels back Morley!
Bike thieves are the worst! Glad you got your wheels back too. Thanks for watching!
Did you report him?
@@valeriehancotte-galan4790 Nope, clothes-lined him off my bike as he drove by 2 or 3 days after it got stolen. Told him what time it was and walked away with my bike in hand while he was seeing tweety birds. Never saw him again at school.
The ending was amazing 😂
Yea!! Thank you 😊
Goood story time! Thank you morley! Sometimes its the hard stuff that makes us a little bit better.
Morley: "Toronto is the bike theft capital of the world"
Argentina: "Hold my beer"
We not only get our bikes stolen all the time here, in some cities it even gets towed by the city because it's been "parked chained to a public tree". They cut the chain off, take the bike and if you weren't there at the time, you don't even realize it was towed, not stolen.
I was hooked from the first beats of the intro music! what an adventure!
Yes!! Thanks, Nicola 😊❤️
I congratulate you on getting your bike back. Did the thief ever try to contact you after that???
Thank you!
When I was riding home, he called me to tell me that he had arrived.
I told him that I had stolen my bike back, hung up, and blocked his number.
I would have called the guy and asked to meet tomorrow once I decided to get the bolt cutters 😅
That ending haha, loved it! Keep going Morley!
Thank you so much, I will!
Your surprisingly a great story teller 😅👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you!
@Morley Kert I must explain by "surprising" I mean I'm new to your channel after watching 5-6 projects of yours a few days ago and this was unexpected 😅
Nothing but love here! Keep doing your thing, were all here to support you👏🏼
@@Wasted-Life That's great to hear, thank you so much! :)
Awesome story but totally triggered by the boltcutters not hanging square 🤣🤣😭
An amazing story, thanks so much for sharing 😊
Thanks for watching!
I can't believe Kevin Costner is one of your patrons!
What a great story men 😂😂😂
As a Dutchie I've always been told, make sure your lock costs more than your bike ;)
Great story!! Bravo!! 😂😂😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
oh my God what a long story
This make me question one thing. What if you stole someone else's bike while the thief bringing your bike with a van?
That was a surprisingly good video! You were really able to show the excitement of it all. I could absolutely relate to all your thoughts. Well done! I wouldn't have been able to confront the thief either. Did he contact you afterwards?
Thank you!
When I was riding home, he called me to tell me that he had arrived.
I told him that I had stolen my bike back, hung up, and blocked his number.
What about the theif, were there any further messages?
One of my favorite stories!
Heck yeah! You called it 😉
loved the video, wish i could have gotten the person that stole my bike down by the toronto brickworks, really messed me up losing it.
Thanks for a little bit of closure on it atlest!
Thanks for watching!
I wish you could've gotten your bike back.
Good on ya! Did the thief call to see where you had got to? I bet your neighbors plan would have worked too 👍
Thank you!
When I was riding home, he called me to tell me that he had arrived.
I told him that I had stolen my bike back, hung up, and blocked his number.
@@MorleyKert ha ha brilliant 👍
Just clicked onto this video. Don't know what happened to your bike yet But I actually had my motorized bicycle and heavily modified pocketbike stolen from my house. Someone sent me the fb sale ad for the pocket after they were stolen. I met up with them and took it back, then had them take me to my bicycle to get that back too. Live streamed the whole thing on fb lol
Nice video, Morley! I like the handwriting and drawings! Also, that ending was funny!
Thank you!
nice story telling, love the way u bring it!
Thank you so much!
Interesting thought exercise, at what price is the tipping point where the bolt cutters become expensive enough that you just pay the man and don’t even mention the theft? As a non-confrontational / risk averse person, myself, it would certainly cross my mind. I think he wanted $130? If the cutters were $130 do you just buy them anyway as an FU to the thief?
I was expecting to return the bolt cutters to the store, but I learned afterwards that they’re a non-returnable item!
In the end, it wasn’t about saving money.
I came out of BART once to find some kid trying to get my bike lock off where I’d locked it. He actually had the balls to argue with me about whose bike it was and then retreated to yell insults at me - I guess to make himself feel better for being totally caught red handed and looking like an idiot. Needless to say that was the first and last time I locked my bike outside a Bart station
Wow!
And this is why I have at least 2 lock on my bike if I’m leaving it outside anywhere for longer than 10 minutes. A solid d lock and a heavy chain lock, plus a cable to secure the front wheel, both wheels on through axles not quick releases (more secure plus through axles last longer). But in general I try not to leave it locked outside.
Suspenseful much. Glad you took matters into your own hands dude🙏👏
Great Story!! ride safe always!!! I hope you also make a tutorial how you design 3d parts on your apps. I got into 3d printing thru you! Fan from the Philippines!
Subscribed to watch your project videos but I didn't expect it to turn into Casey-esque vlog videos. I will wait for the project videos.
Fun story with an insipring end. Good job Morley
Thanks, Josi!
Cool story. Did the thief ever contact you? Also, what happened to the fake wallet? Do you still have the note you put in it?
Used this video to steal back my buddies one wheel for him!!! The decoy wallet worked!!!!
💪
Cool story and those drinks looks good
I’m a teenager and you’re right it’s so freaking hard to get me to do my homework although I do have adhd which makes it harder
Shouldnt your biggest regret be not going back to PROPERLY thank the construction workers who helped you steal a bike?
great story packed in a nice video. thanks
I was waiting at the end to see if you ever heard back from the thief or was that it.
This was a great video, you're a great storyteller!
Thank you!
When I realised this was a storytime I almost exited the video. But for some reason I decided against it and I'm glad I did as your a great storyteller. Great video even with no footage
Thank you so much!
One of his biggest regrets. Congrats. You live a blessed life.
Enjoyed this tale telling style video! One question:at the end did you call the thief back to tell him you beat him? :)
Thank you!
When I was riding home, he called me to tell me that he had arrived.
I told him that I had stolen my bike back, hung up, and blocked his number.
@@MorleyKert Just what i would have done! Well played! :)
Great story Morley!
Thank you!
Morely, GREAT STUFF!!!
Great job telling the story!
Thanks, Dave!
Morley! Really killer storytelling my man! hope you’re well
Thanks, Ben!
Love the video and the story !!!
Second, Great video!
Thank you!
Well i think he has more than two great videos but okay
@@dj_nio235 I was saying that was the second comment
Says great video 2 min after the video was posted 🤣 and the vid is 16 min
Good video though Morley! Been here watching for a good little while
Fair play man I’d of done the same if I was in your shoes keep up the videos dude im looking forward to plenty of your wood working ones 👌
i knew the was a story about those blue bolt cutters
So was there ever anymore dialogue from the guy in regards to why you didn’t show up lol?
damn. my escooter got stolen last friday from espoos railwaystation. i shouldve known not to leave it there
Awesome video pal.
did the guy not call you asking where the bike was ?
Lmao bro ur like me fr 💀
Only difference is that my anxiety would jam my legs
I have few questions tho...
Btw how far was the thief from your location when you finally were able to cut the lock and run away? How long did it took to cut the lock?
And where did you stored that big cutter? Did you had a really big backpack with you?
Also how did you travelled to that location? Did you just walked there? Was it nearby?
The thief was probably 5 minutes away when I cut the lock.
I didn’t bring a backpack so just carried the bolt cutters over my shoulder as I biked.
I walked to the location, it was about a 30 minute walk from my apartment.
great vid, story, and ending. Do a reenactment, who's going to know, 👍✌🖖🥃 I noticed a Kevin on that page, is it a coincident or the actor himself? maybe he'd star in it.
Thank you!
That was a great story
Denzel Curry what a great choice
He’s awesome!
Did you hear from the guy after you got it back?
Fuck. Yeah. Awesome. You tell it way better than your brother. Safety first. Being more aware of your surroundings rather than the content was probably in your best interest regardless of where you were in your life at that time.
❤️❤️
Should’ve returned the bolt cutters
That was the original plan, but when I got home, I saw on the receipt that Canadian Tire doesn’t allow the return of bolt cutters. Makes sense - most people who buy them probably only need to use them once!
Liked, shared and commented 🍻
Did he call u back since he knows ur number?
THIS 👏 NEVER 👏 HAPPENED 👏
Lol
But wait! What did the original theif say when he got there and it was gone??? Surely he contacted you??
Actually just saw you replied to someone else with the same question! Great story, great outcome!
