I'm a little different, I guess. I organize by how much I liked a book (favorites top to bottom, on a scale of 1 to 10 with some things under 5 getting traded in for credit for other books), hardback or paperback, author, genre or type, size, color, and language of book. I don't decorate my shelves since I want to see my books. But I put new books wherever they'll fit until I get them put away in my system. Thankfully, I've had very few times when I couldn't find something.
@shelleys.corner I really just put the ones I reread the most at the top. Then I keep going until I get to the portion where I'm unlikely to read them again.
I have my little nook that I’ve been wanting for years. Finally got a house and money and motivation to put it together. As for organization, my books are organized by vibe. As in, do I vibe with the placement? I move things around a lot…
Normally I'm a genre/author type but over the past few years I had 2 rounds of severe pruning & digital replacement. I kept only collector's or out-of-print editions, hardbacks, law books, and manga. I am still working on putting up shelving but my plan is: oversized books, then genre/author. I never planned to prune but I was renovating and realized that not including my law library I had 5 book cases, triple-parked and overflowing plus boxes and my space just is not infinite lol. I am still considering a 3rd round of pruning. The upside is the funds from down-sizing went back into my digital collection. And I now have space to buy more hardbacks if I really like a book.
Author for fic and genre/global location for the nonfiction @_@' I can never find anything otherwise. Edit: I am also 100 books shy of a library and man did it take a while and I'm trying to be selective about what gets added but having them all there just makes me happy. I've also accidentally gotten a reading nook in a sunlit corner of the room with a chaise longue and with the cats and tea I'm just about at the right library for me.... I hope everyone else is able to achieve as much book-lover joy as I've gotten if not more!
hi shelley, i just wanted to give feedback on the subtitles you've been including recently. i feel like they are really distracting, mainly because of their size, colours and emojis. nothing against subtitles in general, for me for long form content this style is making it more difficult to really look at you while you're talking. xx now onto watching the video lol
I go by genre. Lol, rainbow shelves are pretty but i'd never find anything.
I prefer the dewy decimal system which is basically organizing by genre.

Thanks for sharing!! This is pretty cool! I feel like I'd definitely have trouble when it got to the favourites though 🤣

@futoijosei okay I get you! And it makes sense considering it'll be easy to go back to your faves

I’m the misfit haven/Maximalist 😂also an emphasis on rainbow
gotta love some maximalism 😁
Stand alone books: By author. Unfinished series: On special shelves by space
Finished series: Rainbow-isch :)
My books are mostly on the shelves... and that is the extent of my organization
Looool fair
