This just might be the one I’ve been waiting for. I do a bit more than city driving. My trip into town and back is 260km But I only do it every 6 weeks. Other than that I do maybe one 30km trip a week. I’ve been waiting for one that has enough range to do the big trip without a charge stop, with enough wiggle room to allow for some battery degradation. I think LFP has a better chance of being able to do that a lot longer. And all in a package that’s about the same size as my current Mitsubishi asx which is just right for me. 😁 But, I haven’t seen this mentioned yet. Do you know if it will have V2L? I’m out in the country on pumped tank water and if the power goes out I have no water. It would be so great if I could just drive my car around and plug in the pump. I can make do without lights and appliances (although maybe I would also use the little microwave rather than the camping stove), but no water becomes a problem very quickly.
Also look at the Ora EV - the long range is only $1000 more than the standard range and you get over 100km extra range. Very similar price to the ZS EV now
@ isn’t that more of a hatchback than a small SUV? It’s so hard to tell without going to see them in person. I had a Mazda 323 hatchback for about 10 or so years. Loved that thing. So reliable and economical to run. But I have arthritis in my knees and getting in and out got more and more painful as it progressed. I bought the asx because the seat height made it so much easier on my knees. That’s my biggest criterion. If it’s not easy for my old lady knees to get in and out of, I won’t consider it. Overall comfort is a big factor too as I have another pain issue. So I won’t consider the model Y even though it ticks every other box, because I’ve heard so many bad things about the seats. Plus I can’t figure out if it’s low or tall either. I will happily spend an extra grand or even a few for the comfort factor. I’m even considering a Merc EQA because of their reputation for comfort. But I don’t think the 2025 model of that will tick all the other boxes, and I’d rather not spend that much if I don’t have to. But a car that doesn’t hurt me is the biggest requirement.
@@moniquem783 The ES5 is a medium SUV like the Model Y. I, too, had to move from the Model 3 to the Y as my arthritis in the spine was making it very difficult (impossible to get in and out of the back seats) so had to change cars
@@grumpyoldmanandhisev oh damn. In your spine? Oh that must be awful. I’m so sorry. And the model Y is much easier? How do you find the seats for longer drives? I’ve gone down a UA-cam rabbit hole with EV reviews which it had stopped recommending for a while. Turns out the BYD SeaLion 7 should be here next year too, so I’m going to start having options soon. Test driving is going to be the tricky part. There’s an MG and Mercedes dealership about an hour and a half away, but I’m looking at a 3.5-4 hour drive to get to a BYD centre. Need to consider that for servicing too. I’ll just be patient and make sure I get the right one for me. I’m hoping whatever I get might last the rest of my life, so I’d rather wait a little longer and be sure I’ve got the right one.
@@moniquem783 Honestly the Model Y is fine. Just went on a roadtrip last week - 640Km there, 200km driving around then 640km back all within 4 days. No problems at all with the comfort in my 2022 MY. I think test drives are a very good idea
Could this possibly be a solid state battery that MG are developing. We are looking to change our 20 zs which has been excellent,If it right and price will be ordering one on release. 👍
I wouldnt hold your breath for a solid state battery. Many manufacturers and battery companies are talking it up but there are NONE that are ready to be manufactured in sufficient quantity. The Rimaz has SS batteries but it cost millions!!!

The higher the population the less they need to worry about a few million dying from unsafe cars, I have travelled the world and seen just how worried different places are about road safety and following any road rules. The first time I saw five people on a motorised scooter with a baby sitting on the floor in front of the driver was a surprise and my Granddaughter laughed out loud as well, it was amazing to see people on scooters moving everything from a chair to a fridge as though it was a normal thing to do and the only Police we saw talking to motorists was when it was a visitor to the Country as we found out that the Police in most of these Countries side on the natives side as they explain if the tourist wasn't there the accident couldn't have happened lol, which I suppose is very true. There is no way an Aussie could drive in those Countries with the same attitude as they do here as they would be in an accident every time they tried to move ten feet :). India was even more of an eye opener and my Grand children realised just how lucky and spoilt they are in our home Country.
@@grumpyoldmanandhisev Our minute 25 million requires a very high safety rating as we can't afford to lose even one citizen :) especially if they are on my side of the political bench ;)
I quite like the look of it and considering I still love the look of my 2008 Peugeot 407 Twin Turbo V6 Diesel, it's definitely in the eye of the beholder :) most new cars look great, unless it's a ford or GM and then they just look like they copied some other brand at the last minute to make their very basic offering look a better option and fail miserably :)
Thanks, definitely worth looking at especially with. LFP battery
Definitely
Thanks!
Many thanks. Really appreciate any help
Nicely looking car, good specs -- for the everyday city run. Thank You, Nigel.
What type of battery this car uses? is it new-gen CATL battery or some in-house development battery?
