Thanks for posting this Sackbutsam - I have had two or three more listens and on reflection they really do a tremendous job here ! FYI - I am the son of a brass bandsman who played at the very highest level during the 70s & 80s (including the Royal Albert Hall) .. never played myself but travelled the country with dad (and mum) when I was a kid to watch him play .. appreciate the art & skill more now I am older & thoroughly enjoy listening to brass bands .. much to my wife's dismay (She is not a fan) !! 😂 Currently living in the USA and watching these videos makes me very homesick indeed. Cheers Matt 👍🏻
Hi Matt. I am born and bred in Saddleworth, home of the Whit Friday Brass Band contests, and have been brought up with bands. We have self catering holiday cottages locally and have visitors from all over the world staying with us- the contests really are a brass-extravaganza! You'll have to convince your wife to come over for a holiday and experience them!
Hi, all. I'm in desperate need of the score to Colonel Bogey, please? Any arrangement will do. I'm in Cape Town, ZA and this piece is a special request; I cannot find it anywhere...
Yes always a big thing , I have a copy of Brassed Off which I think gave more people a wider knowledge of brass bands. Don't see very many here in South Africa.
I don't find the swearing bad, it is hoe the people would have conversed. I was born by the Pennies and went to Greenfield Jazz Club Sunday Evenings in 1958 / 1964 then started my travels through Europe , then Africa to East London on Eastern Cape Coast. Then went into Central Africa Malawi, Zambia, Kenya , Congo, Uganda, Tanzania, then back to RSA. Travel is my pleasure, Mozambique, Eswatini, Botswana, Mauritius. Sudan, Libya, Central African Republic. Each Country leaves an imprint on your soul. I love Africa and raised a family here. Would never change my life style. Just please post more brass band videos so I can sit and enjoy in my garden . Thank you.
The one person who gave this a thumbs down is clearly a violin player, this is a Stella performance
A sheer joy to listen to.

Brilliant ! Including your new principal solo cornet. Len Roberts
Len Roberts, she was brilliant!
Sackbutsam Who is she? Her sound is gorgeous
Sackbutsam ah yes I have seen her play with Dyke before on 4th 'man' down, she sounds more like an end chair to me!
Why no percussion?
It is traditional brass band.
Fantastic
No drums it's a brass band. Traditional in North of England.
Correct Michael - and loved the world over!

South Africa? Wow, I'm struggling to imagine watching Brassed Off in SA! Good to hear you like it though Michael (it's a bit sweary though!)
