@@mickyr171Fair enough. Hi Sergio, can you shoot all your videos with high shutter speeds, thus not have to hassle with NDs, with the benefit of being able to stabilize un-blurred video better and just add a realistic motion blur in post?
Sometimes the "digital motion blur" can create strange artifacts, I wouldn't recommend using it 100% of the time. However, shooting at high shutter speed is much better if you need to stabilize or track later. (Especially in cases where you need to track.)
Thanks for the help. I tried this in the free version, my computer must be too slow as once it's applied to a clip it's not even playable anymore. Wish you had showed how to apply it to a only a speed ramped portion of a clip. Ughhhh......this was 100 times easier to do in Final Cut.
but why is it not rendering through? I have M1 Pro so I figure I have a powerful enough computer. ive been waiting for 15 mins and its still playing back extremely laggy frame by frame
In the latest version of DR it seems this has been removed from the free version - if you select the blur amount then it tells you that it is only available in the paid version.
That's the method for the paid version. In this tutorial, I explain how to do it in the Studio version and the free version. I show how to do it for free in the second half of the tutorial.
@@SergiomotaENG I guess I was confused to, I heard "This is how to do it in the free version" and assumed that would be the following clip, thanks for the clarification!
@@OnyxOxyde You're right, I've watched the video, and it seems to be a translation error. In the original tutorial (in Spanish), I say: "First, I'll show you how to do it in the Studio version and then for free." I think ChatGPT shortened the phrase when translating it, or I may have removed parts while editing to sync the audio in different languages 😅.
This effect is resource-intensive and difficult to reproduce in real-time, similar to the "optical flow" function, for example. To play it back in real-time: ua-cam.com/video/mf_8mrxq1OA/v-deo.htmlsi=S9xm0EhpAHfxVxTX (Render cache)
Time to switch to Windows-just kidding! It's normal not to play this effect in real-time; you need cache rendering or proxies to save resources. But it's odd that adding Motion Blur slows down the whole timeline; that shouldn't happen.
@ Thanks, yes it was making Resolve completely unresponsive for a few seconds at a time with a short 4k30 clip. I guess resolve studio has no such performance problems when applying motion blur?
i'm going to assume u went for the "free" version based on the unplayable part... long story short, any motion blur done VIA FUSION will result in lag and not by a little... i mean A TON of lag depending on quality and the more element overlap, the more intensive the render. On the flip side, the "Studio" blur is the most efficient but sometimes it tends to smear borders and what not like mentioned in the video so it might not alwys be the better option
@@sasaawd1 Thanks for this. I'll try again next time and see if I can get enough of a preview working to at least be able to select reasonable parameters before hitting render. Cheers
@@earthsgrip Yes, it's normal. It can't be played back in real-time unless you render it to cache. This usually happens with the more demanding effects, like denoiser, optical flow...

Hey. Are you using an M1 with the Pro chip ?
Set playback quality to quarter.

Use proxy, probably it can handle it smoothly.
