Howdy Folks!
This is the first video from a series where I make a Mini Sterling Silver Vice. I have donated the finished Mini Vice to the Metal Museum for their yearly Repair Days Auction which was held live online on Saturday, October 21, 2023. It sold for $800.

If you're new here welcome! My name is Laura Mullen Vermilye and I am an iron casting metal artist. Being a cast iron artist is an interesting - and at times tough journey, but the rewards far exceed all challenges. While working with cast iron to create my art I am exposed to an amazing community of artists who are as dedicated and passionate as I am. The cast iron art culture is a major influence in my life and on my work and I want to share this artistic adventure with anyone who is interested in seeing hard working people make amazing art with a hot and dangerous material. To do this, I make vlog style videos on this channel that chronicle the artwork that I am currently making and my journeys in Metalsmithing and iron casting. In between casting and metal art videos you may also see some behind the scenes footage of me roaming around the heart of the Midwest and the Ozarks. Thank you to all you folks that are as interested in my small metal project as you are in my cast iron art! Thanks for tunin' in, and as always - I love you. - Навчання та стиль
Lovely work! You should do a second one and send to Jason - I would not be surprised if he'd send a big red one in return... ;)
Oh wow! Even if he just watched the video series would be amazing! I hope I do him justice 😅
Good morning Laura hope you and rob are doing well. Thanks for taking time to make us a video
Hi Daniel, I’m finally getting around to responding to comments! Thanks for always taking the time to watch my videos and always commenting with such positivity. Whenever I get discouraged I think about you and a few others on here and remember that I’m just making these videos for you!
Sending love and have a blessed day!❤️❤️
Super excited to see another tiny tool, I love you sharing your process with us all.
I’m so happy that you and others are interested in watching the process! It gets lonely in the basement sometimes but if I am making a video I feel like I have some company and a purpose to connect with others 😊
I'll enjoy watching this to the end. No pressure.
Thumbs up for the blooper reel at the end. Great work as always.
Glad the bloopers went over well! It’s a new thing I’m trying but I don’t always have bloopers to add, I think episode 2 doesn’t have any😢
Thank you Laura beautiful work as usual. I love seeing your videos you tell a great story.
Thank you so much!
Yeah, you still got it. Love (philla) to Mr & Mrs V.
Thanks for saying I’ve still “got it”! Not everyone is as kind in their comments so I’m glad to have someone who is truly rooting for me!❤❤
The vice is going to look great. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much for watching and being interested!!😊
V block. Nice and square.
With all the filing I thought this was a Tom Lipton video. 🙂
What a great compliment!! Thanks so much for comparing me to such an amazing maker!!😁
Hey that's really cool.. liked and subbed
Awesome thank you! I went over and subbed to your channel! I promise that sometimes I do post videos about my iron casting travels. 😅
love to now have reconnecting with your site
I’m so glad you have reconnected!!❤🎉
Nicely done! Is ther a reason you went with doing the strips vs. cutting V's into the sterling silver and "folding" it into the shape and then soldering the joints?
Hey WreckDriver99!! I used strips instead of scoring and bending because I wasn’t confident that I would be able to consistently cut a ‘V’ in that long of a length. Maybe next time I’ll have a mini mill and a “V” bit!!😂🎉
I think this is my favorite mini tool so far. Love ya kiddo.
Question: do you use oxy/acetylene or oxy/propane, for your torch?
I’m actually using an acetylene torch.
No one had complained yet about how my torch hose is the wrong color yet lol!
When I went to get a tank and hose to go on my regulator and torch hand piece the welding supplier was out of the red hose so he gave me green but do not be fooled- it’s not oxygen!
You save silver swarf for your home-made nail polish, right? :)
It's good to see you start another one; this was fun. Blade breaking could have been in the mainline edit... Just sayin'!
You are too funny!! I’ll take this into consideration in the future episodes (I’m still editing them) and maybe leave in more saw blade breaks!🤣
Cześć ... powiedz proszę 🙏 co robiłaś w tym kociołku 🫕 przez 15 min. co jest wewnątrz kociołka ?
The “crock pot” (cauldron) has an acid called sparex inside and kept warm.
The sparex solution removes any leftover flux residue and any oxidation that comes from when the metal is heated up.😊
@@CastIronGypsy 🥰Thank you very much 😊, and greetings from Poland 😉😊
If you were younger lol your a baby compared to me lol
With as close as I am to 40 it’s encouraging to hear that I’m young!!❤❤😂
Nice work!
Love your nails, but they are a bit distracting from the project in the close ups! 😅
Sorry about that! I just wanted to cover up the dirt that gets under them!😅😂
@@CastIronGypsy Never apologise for being fabulous, but yea, that sounds reasonable... 🤣
