Great video Nate as always - I've been using Tube Buddy most of the time but seeing the vidIQ feature realy made me stop and think. I just jumped into my free version and tried it out. Sweet ... great results and some ideas triggered. So, I may just take up the amazing deal you have for us. Till next time - have a great week Nate 😍😍😎😎

Did you say it’s a 98% discount? So regular VidIQ is $50 a month?
I have to be monetized to be able to afford that.

Clean the electrical contacts.. a glaze of grease etc can build up.. use a cotton bud damp with alcohol.
Check electrical connections like solder joints and the cable is in good condition.
If a powered microphone, is the power supply ok? Not just the mic but also the camera.
      Keep the foam clean.
Have you dropped or banged the mic?
Have the settings in the editing software changed also upload settings.
External electrical interference and are there any new gadgets in your house.

You're the ONLY channel that make actual original content in this niche, always coming up with great ways of representing and explaining UA-cam concepts like this video.
If you look at the other channels all they do is insisting on "go to the point" "simple thumbnails" etc, etc.

Nate, I absolutely love the way you approach your videos. I've been watching you for over a month and every video has been a hit. I haven't even completed viewing this one, and decided to pause to leave this comment. The combination of your ability to simplify your unique methods in addition to your positive and energetic, personality, Visual graphs and high-quality videos, I am hooked. I am not just one of those viewers who enjoys the content but never implements it either. Due to your suggestion, I have been using click up, which has been great for my organization, the SEAS method. I have over 100,000 subs and I'm looking to triple that this year with your advice. Thanks again for your amazing content!

The archaeologist in me thought you were going to say, "I have been doing this whole UA-cam thing for thousands and thousands of YEARS..." and then you said "HOURS," and all the awkward tension left my brain, lol. ;)
Great video! Very helpful. I have a couple of channels. This one (where I'm commenting from) tends to have the more time-consuming-to-edit videos about my research, and another one shows hobby stuff that is much easier for me to make and put out. I love them both for different reasons, but this helps me see a little better what's going on with my own process and interests.

I genuinely think that this is where I'm going "wrong" and this is such amazing advice, thank you Nate! Only discovered you yesterday.
My videos that have done well above all others fit within a certain sub category of my niche, whereas everything else I do never lands as well, despite my excitement about the ideas.
It does make sense that potentially I need to use this SEAS method to try and find more in that subcategory to grow myself initially a bit more, before I branch out further. Will give this a go! Thank you!

I don't know if other people had this "problem", but I had a lot of video ideas with very very similar SEAS rating. So I eliminated the 2s and 4s in the ratings. I forced myself to go with 1, 3 or 5 and that created a very clear list of priorities.

I am grateful to have this information for free!
Question: when you talk about “simple visuals”. Do you mean: 1. simple to understand for the viewer 2. Simple as minimalistic and un complex 3. simple to craft for the creator

Thanks for the great help throughout your videos! I literally just posted my first video out of curiosity before having watched any content theory like yours but watching your tips and see you put them into practice in your own videos, got me super hyped trying to implement them into my own niche, and I'm very happy about the huge leap of improvements thanks to your advice (from 1st to 2nd video), you'd probably find TONS to roast still! If you feel like it, I'd be more than happy about your roasting because I really enjoy just doing stuff for the fun of it and then learning from the mistakes I've made and then get happy about the growth.
I do have a question though about spreadability & audience match: Considering a very specific niche (like me creating 1. beginner guides for a 2. specific Pokemon game), wouldn't I always sacrifice spreadability (1. appealing to non-beginners 2. appealing to players of other games/pokemon fans) for audience match? (1. too complex videos for my beginners 2. they already play the game and dont need to be convinced)?

I love how you put the excitement factor into it. It super helpful for the mental health as a creator because the fact that you want to do the video weighs just as heavy as the audience wanting it.

I actually made an Excel idea virality predictor with that exact same principle, of rating these factors from 1 to 5 ( a 6 other factors) then multiplying them or adding them depending on each factor.
And reverse engineering it to predict views on existing videos.
It works by me typing and idea and rating each factors acording to my own opinion/guess on a formular, then it gets into the excel sheet and give me a score + a view prediction. Allowing me to see wich videos are probably really worth doing or not, and the order of priority.
    Works pretty well !
I was a bit schoked seeing the same thing here.
Really well explained ofc, and 4 factors makes it easier to rate quickly and to think of new ideas

Hi Nate! Thank you so much for sharing the SEAS Method. I am a recent subscriber and I really appreciate the thought that goes into helping us grow our channels. I currently have 12 subscribers and feeling like I'm struggling to grow my channel. I have also watched several of your other videos and am trying to implement your advice. Specifically, from this video, I have now created a zoho spreadsheet with the columns you suggested listing spreadability, excitement, audience match, and simplicity, along with calculating the values. I also took screenshots of your drawings and inserted them into the spreadsheet for reference. I plan on purchasing VIDIQ through your link to start getting video ideas from their AI that I can rate. I am VERY committed to growing my channel into a large business. I want, no I NEED to have my UA-cam Channel be my job! I work in retail and I am burned out. I have always wanted to make a living online, and UA-cam is the place to do it. UA-cam already has the audience, we as creators just need to deliver them the content they want! Plus, I am super passionate about my ttrpg niche, as I have been gaming for 34 years, and will game until I die! Thanks again Nate! Any advice you have would also be appreciated.

For me, the big issue with the vid iq AI, is that it wants me to sew terrible items that I absolutely do not want to sew, OR the topics are just wrong or impossible or the volume of hours required is nuts. Basically, AI does not understand the literal craft it's suggesting.

I try to use the shorts to tease what's going on daily so maybe they'll look for the long format build and ride videos. complexity is all over the place. The build/ride after vids being the most time consuming. The editing the tie videos has gotten more complex but has also paid off a little. Consistency seems to be one of my hardest walls. I'm editing every night and still barely getting one LF vid out a week. IF it was easy everyone would do it, is what I keep telling myself. Subs and watch time are all growing steadily, just slowly.

You say we should look for; whether the video will spread and do well (what else do we need besides this after all but whatever,) whether we are excited about producing the video, what our audience will think of the video, is the video complex to produce? First off, what audience? If I am posting my very first video on a new channel I will not have an audience. And the complexity of the video is only a problem if you are not up to the task. It is not a problem in and of itself.

Nate, I kind of laughed at this one because I was using a somewhat similar system. The funny part for me is that if I targeted a video for the 10% part I get high views. And if I target a video in the 60% range I get very low views. So the views were in reverse of the graph.
So someone would say why not continue making the videos that gets the views? Well that’s because those videos are outside my niche.
Think of it this way. The videos are just loosely associated to the niche. Where the hope is to find topics that relate to the niche and try to pull people in to my niche that might not of known my niche existed. It’s a technique I’ve been attempting to do.
I laugh because yes it’ll attract views but fails on its mission to bring people to my niche.
And when I niche down and really get into the weeds of the topic within my niche the views are never there. It’s a weird thing for me to process.
I’ve been at this for nearly 4 years now. And the analytics have always been great a confusing me.
Lately I’ve found momentum in increasing subscriber count. Which is good.
But I haven’t been able to fix my problem with watch hours, which means I’m getting eyes on my content but they aren’t sticking around.
And I’ve been super hard at work trying new ways and different things to spice up the videos but the audience have not been very receptive.
I’ve recently been able to increase my ctr from around 1.9% to 5% on recent videos. Which increased views and subscribers. But watch hours only increased from 1 minute to 2.5 minutes. So essentially they get passed the hook and ditch the video.
But it’s funny to see I was using a slightly similar thing that you talked about.
Great video as always! Been subscribed to you for a few years now since you were with the other channel. And plan to continue. Your information is invaluable and I always learn something new.

Nick... I mean Nate. You rock! I've been watching you for a while, and always enjoy your enthusiasm.
The EAS I think I can rate easily, but the first S. Spreadability. That seems to me to be a shot in the dark. A year ago I made an experimental video that went "viral," with over 30k views. I've had other videos that I felt were going to spread well that got 30 views. I'd love to see more about how to figure spreadability.

seem to do better with views, comments, so intern that’s what is growing my channel. So I’m going to incorporate that style of content with with my main content within the same niche primarily, that gets my subs returning 😁

Interesting video, great system and actually I also was trying to rate my ideas and videos on how they match the audience, my enthusiasm about making them and complexity (1 to 10 scale). I quickly realized that many video ideas were way too complex to produce, e.g. either required lots of b-roll or text on screen, as well as research and editing time. And in the long run they were not worth the time. Simpler videos often are easier to digest and can appeal to a broader audience. But the main thing also is to understand who your audience is and what they want to learn / watch on your channel. I kind of got lost the way in my own 500+ ideas. As I realized many of them are for different audiences, even if it is all about wellness, healing and self development.

I'd want to follow up and say that the SEAS method can be applied to any type of content, especially to self-publish books, courses, blogposts, websites, infographics, posters, shorts, reels... basically any content. WOW, this is blowing my mind!

This video is really good you’re very good at this and I’m glad I knew about this channel post channel makers cause this is great content. You put a lot of specified energy into these vids and it’s not click bait. I know it takes a lot of brain power too so not every video can be like this. But I’m so glad when these gems arise. Also I get what you’re doing w the ending for watch time etc but it’s so jarring on this one lol

This is a good episode. Viral in my opinion should be viewed to the creator as something that exceeds your expectations. If your video does anything more than what you ever dreamed of ( be humble) if you continue to produce such videos then the numbers grow naturally. I like this video SEAS lesson I will start doing that.
By the way I started this UA-cam channel im commenting from less than a year ago. All my learning was through Nate since he was in Channel Makers. I have now over 20,000 Subs and ive had some hard hitting videos with 100,000-400,000 views...
    Pay Attention people.

Hi Nate, mate I think you put so much value in this incredible. Roasting time on YOUR video 😂 it through me off when you talked about vidIQ when you did. I personally would have put that a little later in the video. I usually watch everything of your video. This time I dropped off and came back later because I thought it was another AI video which it is really not. Hope that was helpful. Thanks for all your help.
