Hi Guys! Today, we’re heading to the official opening of River Hongbao, an annual tradition in Singapore that has been celebrating Chinese New Year with vibrant festivities since 1987. Originally held along the Singapore River, this beloved festival has grown and evolved, with recent editions taking place at Gardens by the Bay. In 2025, River Hongbao runs from January 27 to February 5, marking its 39th year. This year is particularly meaningful as it coincides with Singapore's 60th year of independence, featuring special SG60-themed attractions that beautifully merge tradition with modernity.
Visitors can enjoy more than 20 illuminated lantern displays, nightly stage performances by talented local artists such as Joanna Dong and Shigga Shay, and captivating shows by a troupe from Yunnan, China. The event also boasts a food street with mouthwatering treats, family-friendly amusement rides, and interactive exhibits, including a fascinating showcase of how early Chinese migrants sent remittance letters to their families. One of the standout moments is the firecracker show, a first in Singapore, where up to 60 strands of firecrackers will light up the night on select evenings.
Best of all, admission to River Hongbao 2025 is free, with varying operating hours throughout the event. As one of Singapore's most iconic Chinese New Year festivities, this event continues to delight families and friends with its perfect mix of cultural heritage and contemporary entertainment.
