As Rob Talks Hockey mentioned, Buffalo hasn’t been signing Veterans to help the young stars for what it takes to have a winner mindset. Detroit on the ontherhand, has signed Veterans for their young stars which they will take that experience to the upcoming stars.
You’ll have Edvinson, Johansson, and Berggren on the roster. AJ and Bergs are no longer exempt. Steve will waiver whomever he needs to regardless of their cap hit. You’ve got Kasper, Mazur, and Danielson knocking on the door. Then ASP and MBN and others behind them. The youth movement starts this season. You’ll see 2-3 make the roster each year for the next few seasons. Red Wings will finish the same or better than last year. This is the best top 6 they’ve had in a long time. Edvinson will eat some deployments freeing Seider up a bit. No one is safe on the blue line. Steve will ice the best team he can regardless of who he has to waive to get there. Laggeson for sure is AHL bound and either Holl or Petry are right behind him. Unless, of course, Yzerman pulls off a trade. Can easily see Yzerman using Berggren as the bait to move out Holl or Petry even if moving Holl requires cap retention.
Can’t retain on Holl and burger would be a huge price to pay in order to move him. Petry is on his last year and for 2m bux he’s just fine. Waiving matta, holl or husso will free up cap and spots. I’m guessing matta gets claimed, holl and husso end up in GR
He was also a great guy to have against the more bully teams ::cough cough:: sens & panthers ::cough cough::, always willing to go at the other team, like Ras and perron do as well
The let Ghost walk counting the GR kids, they have plenty kids that are ready. Walman wasn't playinmg late in the season. For some reason the Red Wings decided he didn't fit in their plans. Yzerman will sign those other three players pretty soon. He's always been a poke when it comes to contracts with important players. That's his history.
@@williammontroy9024 Sounds perfectly feasible to me, I just haven't heard any of the details. All of as sudden he was out of favor. He proved himself to be a pretty solid player and they really needed him down stretch. It wasn't money either. He just signed a contract recently.
@@karlheinzvonkroemann2217 yeah I was shocked he got shipped out couldn't help but like the guy . At least of what we as fans know of him . Stevie is big on character though and locker room atmosphere. One of those things we'll probably never know really
Johansen will likely be on their 3rd pair and Yzerman said Gus is an option on the right side for the second pair. PP and PK for Detroit are going to be really good. They are also going to be an extremely hardworking team with bottom 6 players like Rasmussen, Fischer, and Motte setting that tone. They are sorta building their identify moving forward and as they inject players like Kasper, Mazur, Danielson, and MBN in, this team will be a mfer to play against. Once that group is in, we can start to truly critique the Yzerplan for real.
As a Red Wing fan pretty fair video. Buffalo, Detroit, Ottawa are all pretty close and Montreal could surprise. A fall off from TB and Boston is also very possible. I think you could put all those teams in the mix and take a wild guess. Detroit could finish as high as 3rd or battle Montreal for 7th
Detroit is unfortunately ahead of us. Didn't think it would happen after the 2023 season. However, here we are and unless Lindy can make everyone perform at peak level, they will be the team in and will be the team out. We have the edge in goaltending and defense, but they play a better team game then Buffalo.
Chiarot played with seider on top pair most of last season, walman was in and out of the lineup. Ghost was also the biggest defensive liability on the ice for the wings. Also with Raymond and seider needing big contracts the couldn't afford to keeps ghost or walman. I say Detroit has a descent advantage in the Forwards especially top 6. The D will be very close and Buffalo get the edge in Net. Detroit finishes 5th in the Atlantic, Sabres 6th, Ottawa 7th
Yzerman didn't get lucky in the draft like some teams did! Hint! Hint! The Sabers should be much better if only because Lindy Ruff is back. The Devils GM took too long to fix the goalie problem in N.J. A lot of key defensivie injuries that forced the Devils to play two Rookies as the number one pairing showed why it takes three years to make an NHL defenseman. Hughes and Nemec were an outright disaster film constantly losing the puck in the high slot. They looked lost on the Ice! No NHL level goalies and no veteran D-men somehow became Lindy's fault. Well, the Sabres can count their lucky stars. Lindy hasn't had the talent he has now in Buffalo for many years and that team is ready to take the next step and make the playoffs. The Sabres needed a different voice and this is the right one. Washington, Montreal, Otawa I don't think any of them make the playoffs. Pencil in the Red Wings if they stay reasonably healthy! Yzerman was a great player and a great GM in Tampa. I have complete faith in the man.
chiarot did not play on the red wings during seiders rookie campaign. their first season (2023) was terrible but they were re-united down the stretch at the end of last year when walman sucked and they were much much better
Coming from a Wings fan, if you look at Chiarot's advanced stats last year, they were barely any better than the previous season, it's going to be a long season if he and Seider are the top pair again.
Top 6: looks good except for Compher. He already proved 2C is too much for him going back to Colorado. Maybe the wingers can carry him? Defence: Mo Seider and a bunch of bums. Maybe worst D in ATL. Goalies: 3 mid goalies. Should be league avg unless the Defence sinks them. *WHY do you keep flexing on your bottom 6? Are there some numbers or stats that back up your saying BUF's bot 6 is better than OTT, MTL and now DET? Please show your work! That being said, my 5-8 in ATL: OTT, BUF, DET, MTL
Yea Detroit’s bottom 6 being underrated, Rass-Copp-Fischer was the best shut down line in the whole league last year. Over 150 minutes without giving up an even strength goal, only one other line even made 100 mins.
D, etroit would immediately match that deal. That's at least 1 million under what they are hoping to sign him for long term, it would be doing them a favor if Seider signed that.
You’d have to come with over 9.1M to Seider, get him to sign it, and then be willing to give up two 1st round picks, one 2nd, and one 3rd. Those are unconditional picks. Anything under that threshold the wings will automatically match and would likely go higher depending on term. It’s just not going to happen.

Redwings are built like a playoff team this year! Their scoring lines look scary good!
Detroit could, and would, match any offer for Raymond Buffalo could offer.
That was a very fair assessment. Good video
Chairot was solid this year, don’t get it messed up he was much better
He was also a great guy to have against the more bully teams ::cough cough:: sens & panthers ::cough cough::, always willing to go at the other team, like Ras and perron do as well
Detroit could not have held Ghost or walman. The 17.6 million will go towards Seider, Raymond and Berggren. That doesn't leave 3 million.

Walman apparently alienated himself somehow at the end of the season. Some kind of locker room situation

I agree but I think the Wings are going to look at some other combinations too.

Could be a long season for the Wings. GM did not manage the payroll well which forced the cap dumps of two quality players.

Low quality take.

Youth movement is more likely to include Mazur than Berggren.
Then Berggren would have to be traded, since he’s not waiver exempt anymore. Berggren’s much more likely to start opening night
