I think, graphically, it really hasn't aged too badly. The only problem is that if you run it on an emulator that tries to render it at higher resolutions, the image looks somewhat distorted.
+ManWithBeard1990 I know! The graphics have aged very well, I don't know why Mark said they didn't! Heck! I play GT2 now and I think the graphics look amazing!
GT2 is still my fav of all the series. Grindelwald was not one of my faves for sure. we kinda hated it and always called it "grind the wall" instead of grindelwald... I wish they would re-hash GT2 as is and only bump/remaster the graphics I would buy it.
That suspension twitching Gran Turismo had, combined with the hyper realistic vibration the Dual Shock had, is unsurpassed probably even today. The force feedback on Forza sucks so bad...
Oh man that brings back memories.. glad I found these GT1, 2, and 3 review vids. I spent more time playing these games than most people could comprehend.I hope GT5 will be as fun. I know it'll be way better, just hope it's as addicting and "fun" overall...
GT2 was my first game ever. I was confused at first, for getting 2 discs. then i realized i had to complete the disc 2 to unlock stuff on disc 1. thumbs up if this game took over my memory card lol
It's too bad Polyphony didn't have enough breadth of operations to also continue the Omega Boost title especially into the graphics upgrades analogous between PS1's Gran Turismo 2 to PS2 era Gran Turismo 3 / 4 output... I believe they would have had another potential genre-topper .
Oooooh Grindelwald...... sorely missed... I just hope with these '20 locations' that the Eiger Nordwand is joined by this classic... Awesome video review, thanks for putting this online...
I used to have a copy of this game, I loved playing it, and I had almost completed it when the cheap memory card died. This was one of my least favourite tracks until I got the hang of it. Another good review!
beautiful memories,i was 3 years old when i played this first time,i still can remember my favourite car the toyota gt-one,and my little blue suzuki,i forgot the model but i think it was a van wich i tuned to 553hp
I was in uni when this came out and got after quitting my studies, I was bored silly. I got a bag of weed and holed up for a month just playing this....the graphics were amazing to me in the first game, and here they just polished it. I now play it on my psp and it's just the boss of games, ultra condensed pure gaming, on sim mode handling. I love Gran Turismo, it's a pure game, created by a bunch of guys so clever they've nurtured a real pro driver and and created their own actual race cars.
I actually somehow got my hands on this game after watching these reviews from some pretty unknown game store just month back, and I'm not dissapointed! I didn't like this game much when I was younger, but now when I play this game, It's just plain awesomeness!
Your channel rocks Mark, you're pure old skool, gaming cartidge dust, hardcore to your heart from the start. To have lived and enjoy videogames since space invaders has been and will continue to be a great privelage and like a thousand acid trips in so many ways, and you pay homage to the pro's who made the best shit. Only one thing.... You've never given due props to the castlevania series, it's the best ever. Super CastleVania IV is a masterpiece on snes, a work of art. Needs a re-view! :)
This is also my most favorite track in the series, can't believe they never put it in another game. Most of the new courses they made for this game were pretty awesome. I really enjoyed Rome, Rome Night, and Seattle.
Oh, that's it, that is why I loved this track so much too, it has an uphill section, which looks like I'm doing hillclimb racing, which, although very popular in europe, has been left out of gran turismo in favor of the boringness of driving in circles!
what "robot" games do u have cause theres this game where every thing is kinda looks like you a polygon and you fight these robot things that are like one color , green , orange, red, and theres this electric fence thats like blue and if u go through it u die....i thought it was "Armoured core" but i think its not...im prettie sure it was for ps1. any ideas? can u help me? THANKS
What was amazing in this game is the high speed racing. I just can't explain it, but when you're going fast you actually feel like you're GOING FAST. Unlike the new Gran Turismo's, I'm always like, 200 mph? Meh, don't feel it.
I always enjoyed the first game a lot more. The sequel felt like they broke the controls in order to cram in more cars to hit a publishing deadline. Sure, it's a bit more balanced in some respects than the first, but all of the cars felt about the same in GT2. A huge degree of fun-factor and replayability was removed and replaced with tedium. Not to mention, I am almost certain that the graphics (lower res in favor of more objects) and sounds took a step back as well.
Haha i'm from switzerland. And yes Grindelwald actually exists. Its about in the mittle of switzerland and pretty high up in the mountains, you can go skiing and snowboarding there or mountainclimbing in summer and evidentally DRIVE CARS! I wonder how the creators of this game came up with that track^^
Gt1-2 were way ahead of their times, Gt 3-4 were with the times.. And well, Gt5 has shown that Polyphony if falling behind the times a bit.. I still love me some Gt5!, tearing the green hell up in Gt5 is awesome!!! But the constant updates were quite necessary to at least bring it up to date.
apparently the Bleemcast Emulator on Dreamcast makes the same game twice the resolution and with anti aliasing. Amazing but true. Apparently there's a stand alone download but to game save you need the retail version of the emulator, Bleemcast. Apparently it runs sweet, and probably a unique thing in that it looks better than the original.
im going to clean the dust from my PSone and play this game again :D still have my save with almost all game completed and plenty of cool cars in the garage
@PranksAreUs83 no when i meant impossible, i really meant impossible. its a glitch in the game. the most u can get is 98.2% complete bcuz they rushed the game and left out drag racing with was the remaining percentage of the game.
I have to find a copy of GT2 with the case and everything, right now I only have the Arcade disc and basically it's the only one of the GT series that I don't have
The Gran Turismo series is possibly the greatest racing game series of all time because what other racing game single handedly started the gray import market for north america? What other racing game introduced you to such cars as the Nissan Skyline or the Lancer evo or even the nissan Stagea? If it wasn't for this game, the Nissan GT-R would not have succeeded in north america like it did, hell maybe if it weren't for this game the Nissan Gt-R would have simply cessed to exist.
Idk I havent played this game in like 5 years. All I can say is try hard to beat the tounaments and stuff, and whenever you save up enough, buy the escudo. I think it costs about 500k credits. Not too awfully hard to obtain.
The Nissan GTR didn't succeed in the states, wasn't responsible for the gray market which started in the 80's and was curtailed before this game came out, and the GTR was released in 1989 and would've succeeded perfectly fine without the Gran Turismo series as it was dominating motorsports in Japan and was doing well internationally. Who have no clue what you are talking about and neither do the others who gave you so many thumbs ups.
My Gran Turismo/simulation mode disc for this game broke in 2001... I havn't played GT2 since, not once!!! I agree with Alex, bring me the PSN download!!! Although we will miss out on one of the defining features of this game... The actual CD has a scratch and sniff rubber burning thingy on it, how cool is that!!! No other game thought of that. At least not that i know of.
Wow, this trakc was soooo difficult for me! Even if I had a superior car, I couldn't win there. One day I was in a championship or any important race for me, and the last race I needed to do was there. "Ok, I need to learn how to race here!" and this was what I did. Now it's a piece of cake! nice track though.
@FriendlyCroock No, just that the graphics have not aged well since its a PS1 game. Its still great looking in its time, but compared to some of the games of today, its nothing compared. I love this game, but I lost my memory card and my game... D:
Glad this vid wasn't given a copyright strike with GT2s BGM, which is a big part of the game.
Playing it on CRT tv and it looks good enough.
I don't know why Mark said the graphics in GT2 haven't aged well! They have most certainly aged well! They look amazing!
Now this is 8 years ago, damn.
16 😢
I am currently playing through Gran Turismo 2 and I have to say that I love the way the cars bounce in the turns.. I don't know why though...
'Let's make a part 2, nearly nine years later...'
Amateur really compared to Gaben.
Back when Rob Zombie Dragula was in every racing game.
GT2 is still my fav of all the series. Grindelwald was not one of my faves for sure. we kinda hated it and always called it "grind the wall" instead of grindelwald... I wish they would re-hash GT2 as is and only bump/remaster the graphics I would buy it.
+MET-AL MIKE Gran Turismo 2 is my favorite racing game ever!
That suspension twitching Gran Turismo had, combined with the hyper realistic vibration the Dual Shock had, is unsurpassed probably even today. The force feedback on Forza sucks so bad...
Mark! im with you on this, this is the GREATEST track in gran turismo history and probably the best gran turismo in the series :)
Oh man that brings back memories.. glad I found these GT1, 2, and 3 review vids. I spent more time playing these games than most people could comprehend.I hope GT5 will be as fun. I know it'll be way better, just hope it's as addicting and "fun" overall...

thumbs up if this game took over my memory card lol
i spent so much time playing this game.completed even all the endurance races and won every single race
suzuki escudo was the beast in this game
It's too bad Polyphony didn't have enough breadth of operations to also continue the Omega Boost title especially into the graphics upgrades analogous between PS1's Gran Turismo 2 to PS2 era Gran Turismo 3 / 4 output... I believe they would have had another potential genre-topper .

This is my favorite game on any Sony console. Well made video man!
beautiful memories,i was 3 years old when i played this first time,i still can remember my favourite car the toyota gt-one,and my little blue suzuki,i forgot the model but i think it was a van wich i tuned to 553hp

I'm not that big of a fan of Grindelwald, but I do love the hell out of this game here. Gran Turismo 2 #1 A-Spec next and then 1 and newer GT games.
I wish I still had my old Grand Turismo *3* game and a PS2! But I'm still so happy I still have a PS1 and Grand Turismo 2.
yooo do you have anymore tips? like what car should i use for every single race in the game? im trying to beat it.
My favorite car of gt2 was the Suzuki Escudo! I even put street tires on it and never came close to loosing a race
justensr harmon I loved the 3000gt aka "black death"
thx for makin this video..this is the best game in history
Grindelwald, SS11(GT3 Version), Red Rock Valley Speedway, Tahiti Maze, Grand Valley Speedway, Trial Mountain, Deep Forest Raceway were my fave tracks
i remember when i got this for xmas! I love GT to this day. And will shell out 400 just to play gt5
what`s the name of the song playing at around 1:24?
The greatest thing about Gran Turismo 2, was that it had Mercedes Benz, I was thrilled, when I was 8!!!
That RUF sounds just like the Toyota GT-One
Man this brings back memories.. My favorite car was an alfa romeo touring car, it was a beast :D
It's cool how this track is only a few minutes away from the Eiger Nordwand track in GT5 in real life.
what "robot" games do u have cause theres this game where every thing is kinda looks like you a polygon and you fight these robot things that are like one color , green , orange, red, and theres this electric fence thats like blue and if u go through it u die....i thought it was "Armoured core" but i think its not...im prettie sure it was for ps1. any ideas? can u help me? what was the first song in the first race?
Someone needs to tell me, does this game still sell, and where? I WANT THIS GAME!
I bought this game for like $5 5 months ago, and still play it alot.
What was amazing in this game is the high speed racing. I just can't explain it, but when you're going fast you actually feel like you're GOING FAST. Unlike the new Gran Turismo's, I'm always like, 200 mph? Meh, don't feel it.
I don't really like racing games, but I like GT2's soundtrack.
I always enjoyed the first game a lot more. The sequel felt like they broke the controls in order to cram in more cars to hit a publishing deadline. Sure, it's a bit more balanced in some respects than the first, but all of the cars felt about the same in GT2. A huge degree of fun-factor and replayability was removed and replaced with tedium.

i remember playing this game when i was about 7-10 and my main goal in the game was to buy the dodge viper
Gt1-2 were way ahead of their times, Gt 3-4 were with the times.. And well, Gt5 has shown that Polyphony if falling behind the times a bit.. I still love me some Gt5!, tearing the green hell up in Gt5 is awesome!!! But the constant updates were quite necessary to at least bring it up to date.
this is by far one of the best track on the game along wit red rock valley and laguna seca raceway. to bad there was no nos
man i wish i was born like 5 years earlier. but, man i just missed this stuff. 1999. >.>
Hey guys, does anyone know where I can get this game in Tacoma Washington?
I still play this a little bit!! Its still pretty realistic, except for the graphics and perhaps the speed of the cars. !
apparently the Bleemcast Emulator on Dreamcast makes the same game twice the resolution and with anti aliasing. Amazing but true. Apparently there's a stand alone download but to game save you need the retail version of the emulator, Bleemcast. I miss the excitement I had seeing those little dots on the track layout way behind me...I just miss everything...
GT 2 and Destruction Derby 2 was the best PSX games :)
TVR Cerbera LM... so much fun with this car!
how the hell did you make your Ruff CTR 2 SPORT like a Juragur
AGH! GT5Prologue is a Prologue of 5! Stop wondering why they didn't include loads of old tracks!
where did you work back then?
im going to clean the dust from my PSone and play this game again :D still have my save with almost all game completed and plenty of cool cars in the garage
I LOOOOOOOOOVE THIS GAME! I WILL NEVER GIVE IT AWAY AND LOVE AND TAKE CARE OF IT 4EVER!!
Best GT2 track.
Part 2 finally came out?
No, I live in Finland. It wasn't a brand name shop, I would have mentioned that if I would live in United States.
Whats the name of the song in 1:10 ???
@PranksAreUs83 no when i meant impossible, i really meant impossible. its a glitch in the game. the most u can get is 98.2% complete bcuz they rushed the game and left out drag racing with was the remaining percentage of the game.
Yamauchi Kazunori sure does know how to make an awesome game.
não tem a parte 1 meu velho???
I have to find a copy of GT2 with the case and everything, right now I only have the Arcade disc and basically it's the only one of the GT series that I don't have
I want GT6 to be not an evolution of GT5, but a mixture of all Gran Turismos (All cars, all tracks, all events, etc.).
The Gran Turismo series is possibly the greatest racing game series of all time because what other racing game single handedly started the gray import market for north america? Wasnt this the version that couldnt be 100% completed due to a bug?
The music in GT2 was probably best in the whole series.
I wish I could get back my PS1 with it's memory card and all my cars. Just thinking about how far I went in the game, it's just sad.
Idk I havent played this game in like 5 years. All I can say is try hard to beat the tounaments and stuff, and whenever you save up enough, buy the escudo. I think it costs about 500k credits. Not too awfully hard to obtain.
1:05 saleen sr by far my favorite track
best game ever! please make more reviews
It's interesting that the cars still sound the same in GT5

Who have no clue what you are talking about and neither do the others who gave you so many thumbs ups.
Ah, Grindelwald...; this was my test track for tuning and buying new cars...this BETTER be brought back in GT5!! :D
HOW MUSIC IS STONE TEMPLE PILOTS??

is this song in the game?
so your the one in the white aND blue pixel?
Best Game Ever. Period.
@FriendlyCroock No, just that the graphics have not aged well since its a PS1 game. Its still great looking in its time, but compared to some of the games of today, its nothing compared. I love this game, but I lost my memory card and my game... D:
This game gave me lots of amazing sundays.
I love the ruf sound in gt3
man, got some nice drifting skils there
i also play sometimes gt 2 just for the tracks like this one oder red rock valley
@BillyCauseyjr You'd expect them to be on all the PlayStation Stores now that GT5 is released... Sony Sony Sony...
My Favorite Gran Turismo Games Was:
Gran Turismo 1, Gran Turismo 2, Gran Turismo 4
@alexcheetah79 yes, i agree with you but there were some movies who helped out too... like Fast&Furious for example
I was just thinking, the outline of Grindelwald kind of reminds me of Goodwood.
i really love this game
Sum great cars u have there. I'm playing the game myself now and I have filled my garage with only Unique or Rare cars... Cool rewiev tho 5/5
This is great. Thank you..
I love Grindewald, reminds me Sega Rally for some reason : )
To me it feels like something out of Screamer, or an early Need For Speed game.
I hope they bring this to the ps3 "ps1 classic" download, that would be great. As well as 1.
i miss the 'racing modification' they had for gt1 and gt2.
GT2 + Colin Mcrae Rally 2.0 + TOCA =
This Game Has Really Good Graphics for ps1. and new one on psp its really awesome
