It just depends on your preference. Most gongs tend to be either Bronze (copper and tin) or Nickel Silver (copper, nickel, and zinc). Nickel silver gongs tend to be more expensive, so people associate them with "higher quality", but that's not necessarily the case. Bronze gongs tend to have a more raw, uncontained sound, where nickel silver gongs tend to have a very focused, contained sound. I like both of them equally - I feel sometimes like large bronze gongs offer a bit more range if you're wanting to experiment and explore all of the different complexities that can come from a gong. But nickel silver gongs are very consistent and are very good for focused meditation.
This 48" Chau Gong isn't listed yet, but it will be soon. We just received this piece a couple weeks ago and it's still moving through our intake process, but it should be listed soon. When it is, it will be listed here, where we list all of our one-of-a-kind 48"+ Chinese gongs: gongs-unlimited.com/products/unlimited-giant-48-to-52-healing-gongs
Most of the mallets we offer from them as a part of a set, we don't sell individually. We only offer some of their mallets as individuals. In those cases, yes, I think the sets are slightly cheaper by a few dollars.
To be sure, I'd recommend reaching out to our customer service team at info@gongs-unlimited.com and they can help you find the right mallets and make sure you're not doubling up!
B Love flumies are the BEST!!!

Which metal is the best for the gong?

B love Flumies?
Exactly!
@@gongsunlimited Nice thank you. While I have you here, do I save anything by buying their Flumies as a set?

So it would be better for me to buy a high set, medium set, and low set, rather than th "essentials" otherwise I might end up with duplicates
