The outdoor filming location of Elvis Presley's "Blue Hawaii (1961)" was a place where memories and lingering memories of the last scene remained for a long time,
so I would like to visit Hawaii before I die. Thank you for using good video to capture the current state of the place. .
I hope that in the future it will be reborn as a wonderful place and become a tourist attraction.

    Good video
Brings back lots of memories when I was around 14 years old and it was a neat place to go too when there was not much to on Kauai back then
Looks like it going to come back to life again and get lots of good people there 🤙🤙🤙🤙

It’s good to see progress! One question, though. Will they demo and rebuild the old Seashell Restaurant across the street?

Wonderful footage, Bob. As always...thanks for the time you are taking to record this for all of us. Your dedication is appreciated. Who owns the restaurant property now? Any plans for that site, as well? Keep the updates coming! Mahalo

If you are talking about the Sea Shell, Coco Palms still owns it and will restore the Sea Shell.

Great footage. Ive been waiting years to stay at Coco Palms again. I am hopeful this time. The coconut grove is looking great. It was nice to see the pools finally drained. I have great memories from when i stayed in the 80s. ❤

There's an old Hawaiian saying "The Missionairies gave us religion and we gave them our land"... in the development or rather "land grab" of Hawai, it was stilli just another chapter in a whole world history of land-grap's!
There was probably the same amount of protest when the original Coco Palms was built... and as we know the people of Kauai later learned to love it as it brought steady work that was a lot better than the back-breaking work in the sugar fields. The Coco Palms brought prosperity and wonderful memories for both islanders and tourists alike...
For 32 years it sat idle, a total eyesore with questionable ownership and legal liability issues since the hurricane. Now it has a good chance of rebirth, of course the cost estimates are going to rise, but with better buiding codes and the watchful eye of the locals it could easily become the best Coco Palms ever!
I'm just a British observer who has spent most of his life in California working in HOLLYWOOD... Hawaiians must still despite what they did to Captain Cook, still think highly of the British for what they attempted to do, especially as they gave us a place on it's flag!
This is a good presentation video of the progress, it's historical footage that no one else is documenting. I'll be making my first visit to Kauai in May, so I'll see for myself. I've already done 8 months of research on the island andits history and attractions, seen literally scores of videos... the Coco Palms is truly a part of modern day Kauai, it deserves another chance to make wonderful memories for new generations.
It was developers like Henry Kaiser, movies like South Pacific and an iconic TV show called HAWAII FIVE-O that really introduced for good or bad, Hawaii to the world... and good or bad, it is tourism that keeps things going on a remote series of islands where so much has to be imported, where there are no big factories, just big hotels.
Naturally the chickens have the best life and total freedom on Kauai, and the big usual CATCH-22 is that living in paradise for everyone else always comes with a catch... trafficwise at that busy intersection will need a bridge to the beach no question, as this development will bring in tourism big-time!

My family and I stayed at the Coco Palms Hotel the year before the hurricane hit, and I hope one day it will revive a great place to visit.

Great progress to what is a
massive project and I'm amazed at the amount of heavy machinery..
All the best to everyone concerned.
Can't wait to revisit kauai once it's completed.
We will be there in a few weeks from Australia

You're getting pretty good at using that drone KB! Great video - thanks! I'm wondering, how will future guests get over to the beach across the street? Will they build a pedestrian bridge, or will they just cross at the light?

No bridge but they have talked about taking people across in shuttle vans.
