When studios remaster old movies, some crop the original aspect ratio to fit the current one. It's a shame and a terrible decision overall, but this is the only version in good quality

Japan is in top 5 of whaling countries. They commercially whale under the guise of "scientific" hunts. Most of the whale meat goes on sales because it is expensive, doesn't taste great, and if consumed more often than once a month, will slowly lead to mercury poisoning. But there are still cosmetics made out of whale fat and oil, despite production and cost-wise better alternatives. Ambergris (processed whale fat) is superseded by ambroxide. Back when this cartoon was made, Japanese were in breach of multiple anti-whaling and whale-preservation programmes, and still are to this day. Other offenders are: Canada, Denmark, Norway and Greenland- which hunts mostly to export the meat to Japan.
