Illegal Mahim Dargah Demolished After Raj Thackeray’s Threat | ISH News

- Raj Thackeray, the chief of a political party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) showed a drone footage on the 22nd of March, Gudipadwa while addressing the citizens of Maharashtra and said that an ‘illegal dargah’ is coming up in the middle of the sea off Mahim coast. He threatened that if it is not immediately demolished, he will make a huge Ganpati temple in the same place. When Raj Thackeray played the clip and claimed that a dargah was built on an encroached land, he said, "Whose dargah it is? Is it of a fish? It was not there a couple of years ago." The video showed an island-type small land near the coast with a few poles. We also see a few people visiting there through the sea water and offering their respect at what Raj Thackeray claimed as an ' illegal dargah'. Many social media users also shared the footage of the structure that Raj Thackeray showed and some claimed Mahim's mystery dargah was even available on Google Maps. The video was later shared by the Twitter handle of the MNS which said a 'new Haji Ali' is being prepared in the middle of the sea in broad daylight and yet the police and the municipality did not see it or they must have ignored it.
“I want people like Javed Akhtar and many more. I want Indian Muslims who speak against Pakistan and tell them our power. Javed Akhtar does that and I want Muslims like him," Raj Thackeray said. The BMC, on Thursday, 23rd March, only one day after their warning, the BMC reached their with bull-dozers and started demolishing the dargah. The decision is believed to have been taken at the highest level of the Eknath Shinde-Devendra Fadnavis government. The team visited the spot early in the morning and with the help of JCB, the structure was removed. More than 100 civic workers and officials and police personnel were deployed. The structure was constructed during low tide and the demolition too was carried out during low tide and debris was later removed from the place, said the sources. They also took action on 40 to 50 illegal huts along with the shoreline on the rear side of the Mahim dargah.
