Bear Enrichment

Brown bears spend a large amount of their time foraging for food in the wild. Here at Wild Ireland, we spend a lot of time coming up with ideas to make our bears work for their food, just as they would do in the wild.
This keeps our bears active and mentally enriched all day long whilst in our care. It is our main objective to enhance the quality of our animal care by identifying and providing the environmental stimuli necessary for optimal psychological and physiological well-being of each of our animals.
Each of the techniques we use are intended to trigger our animals senses just as they would in the wild.
