When talking about a game like this my mind always goes back to the first Prey game, the end (Yes there will be spoilers) was one of the first times a game really made me feel feelings, or at least the kinds of feelings it made me feel. So quick recap, you're trapped on an alien ship and trying to find your girlfriend and escape, many hijinks ensue. At the end (here come the spoilers) you do find your girlfriend, but she has been mechanically and biologically spliced together with another alien, making her essentially the final boss. One of the main plots through the whole game was you trying to find her, and at the very end you have to kill her to end her suffering. It was super tragic and really hits hard! And I think that is a good way to give out those emotions of suffering, failure, embarrassment, and even instill a bit of rage towards the "people" (aliens) that made you do what you had to do. Very emotional moment in the game, and it was great!
